American President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle reported about $600,000 (about N90million) in income last year and were taxed at the rate of 18.4 percent, the White House said Friday. It noted that Obama has called for a 30 percent tax rate for wealthier Americans like himself. Two-thirds of the $608,611 in adjusted gross income reported by the Obamas came from the president’s salary of $400,000 (about N63m) a year. The overall figure is down from 2011, when the couple made nearly $800,000, thanks in part to proceeds from book sales. The Obamas also paid nearly $30,000 in state taxes in Illinois, where they own a home in Chicago, and donated $150,000 to charity last year, said White House spokesman Jay Carney. Carney also noted that Obama supports the so-called “Buffett Rule” — a minimum 30 percent rate for individuals making more than a million dollars a year. Named after billionaire investment wizard Warren Buffett — who famously complained he paid a lower effective tax rate than his secretary — the idea has been rejected by Congress, where Republicans opposed to higher taxation control the House of Representatives. “Under the President’s own tax proposals, including limitations on the value of tax preferences for high-income households, he would pay more in taxes while ensuring we cut taxes for the middle class and those trying to get in it,” Carney said in a statement. Vice President Joe Biden and wife Jill, who works as a university professor, reported $385,072 in adjusted gross income in 2012 and paid $87,851 in taxes, the White House said. President Obama pays for his own expenses out of his $400,000 annual salary, including food, drinks, and dry cleaning. The president is presented with a weekly menu, and they buy the groceries. It is so for all American presidents http://www.informationng.com/2013/04/white-house-declares-the-obamas-2012-income.html |
WoW!, a 60yrs old man, not only abuse racially but also physically assault a child...This act is disheartning & deserve the punishment....To me, He's emotionally pathetic & need go through rehabilitation after serving his term. But alas, reading through all comment,I'm forced to ask myself if its not the same NIGERIA I'm living in; Or is it not the same country where some mother/father spank(hit) their child for one reason or the other, or they consider that not being an assault?!! Ooh NIGERIA. |
Highbros: My heart is still beating faster. Which kind coconut be this??Its just like the normal coconut, thou i can't explain the seed, i've seen such before and on many occasions, well i ate it thou and its harmless to me..but i'm not advising you to do the same as its freaking you out. |
"I'm not Afraid to Fail, I'm Just Afraid of Repeating my Mistakes"... And "FAIL" to me means "First Attempt in Life", Repeating the same mistake will then make me a failure.. I've no fear thou, but its not a bad thing to be afraid, like an Author said, "The Bravest Man is He Who's Scared" |
doppler777: I HAVE SAID IT BEFORE, NOW I WILL SAY IT AGAIN. THIS THE REASON WHY I WILL NEVER SET FOOT IN THAT GOOD FORSAKING COUNTRY CALL NIGERIA.GBAMEST....I PREFER THE SUFFERING AND SMILING STATE OF MIND; AND THOSE IN THE DIASPORA REALLY THINK WE ARE SUFFERING AND SMILING TRULY FROM WHAT THEY READ IN THE NEWS.. |

SO, GET YOUR INFORMATION CORRECT, BEFORE YOU START OPENING YOUR DIRTY MOUTH. AND I WILL SAY IT AGAIN, I WILL NEVER EVER EVER ENTER NIGERIA UNLESS IF I HAVE TO COME AN DO SOME BUSINESS OVER THERE. I LOVE AMERICA AND AM STAYING OVER HERE. YOU ARE JUST JEALOUS BECAUSE YOU ONLY HAVE PERMANENT VISA. GO EAT GARRI WITH BEANS FOOLThe Dude is making my day with his post mehn.. But on a more serious note, what you type here make no sense to me, but coming down to your level to comprehend your post, if true, i commend you for that; but I'm against your unpatriotic character and remember, even if you have a DUAL Citizenship Passport, doesn't make you a "Son of the Soil", which implies that you could be bounced at anytime and Nigeria would still be the one to take you in.. |

abubello: However, an aggrieved defence contractor Alhaji Rabiu Hassan alleged that the contract has been inflated. If true, then i guess someone is about to get rich again o. Alhaji Rabiu Hassan, who is the chief executive of Hypertech (UK) Limited, said he had petitioned the Presidency and other public agencies on these contracts which he said have high security implications for Nigeria. If true, Alhaji Rabiu should please state its implication and how it could be curbed. |
I was just about updating this, saw it via Sahara Mobile Report too, If true.....R.I.P & more light should be shed on his death, cos he was reported piloting the Aircraft at the airport and it never stated if it crashed. |
I'm Glad she's back....But I'm very sure she went to Learn English(doubt it was germany she went to sha).. |
Money can't buy love, it can only sustain the individuals co-existence, when there's money they both would be comfortable and that comfort may reflect on how much they grow strong in love(in some case)...Again it shouldn't be mistaken for happiness, cos Happiness is Spiritual and it goes a long way with connection to a man's state of mind in which his physical man must be at peace with the inner man and with so doing, he would be happy and also would be able to give out love and create room for it being returned. Money can neither buy love or happiness, but it sure can sustain the individuals by providing comfort and when you can give a woman comfort, you'd have her support and attention which i believe almost all men want. |
k2039: If you take a survey you will realise the gender(that loves more) changes from one relationship to another and also in every relationship one of the partners tend to love than the otherI quite agree with you on that, but looking at it from afar cos i can't necessarily go nosy in people's affair, they both love differently i know, but i want from your own angle or experience how you've seen it. Chubhie: Listen to Shaggy's Strenght Of A Woman and then R Kelly' When A Woman's Fed Up...... Iam a witness the very pure love of a woman...tiz one of the most amazing things of life.... I give it to ANUI've listen to both and i found those interesting and base on my experience with my ex and current gf, i feel we do love differently and they tend to get attach more emotionally, maybe cos they are of a fragile and vulnerable nature and i really don't know what they feel inside of them thou cos I'd have to go with the Solipsism philosophy on that, as i only know myself and not the other person. |
Through my few years of Relationship experience, I've since found out that 'apart from first love experience' (which we all assume to be the first true love),the feminine sex tend to love more deeply by getting more emotionally attached, I'm not saying men don't love truly or get attached too, but i sense female tend to get more involved emotionally.. Me being a psychologist in the making, I'm personally working on a research to determine how true my thesis is and would require all concerned and more experienced Nairalanders to help me with their experience or better still help analyze this from their own view logically. Do they love differently or equally and why? |
Ricky_Ross: The boy try sha, but this na old newsOld but not over 3 month, but still he did a good job and hope he would be recognized for his wonderful innovation.. |
A 24-year-old Nigerian has completed the building of a working helicopter out of old car and bike parts. The guy who achieved this feat is a Physics student, Mubarak Muhammed Abdullahi. He spent eight months building the yellow model seen here, using the money he made from repairing cellphones and computers. Some of the parts were sourced from a disused plane. A camera beneath the helicopter connected to a small screen on the dashboard gives the pilot ground vision, and he communicates via a small transmitter. Mubarak says he learned the basics of helicopter flying through the internet after he decided it would be easier to build a helicopter than a car. Mubarak is now working on a new machine which “will be a radical improvement on the first one in terms of sophistication and aesthetics.” http://yada.com.ng/blog/2012/09/11/nigerian-youth-builds-working-helicopter-from-junks/
