What you are going through is not unusual or uncommon. I suspect that there are several Christians facing the same challenge but who are not able to come out and speak of their struggles. Hence they suffer in silence.

There have been a number of valuable coments on this thread already around the themes of starving the addiction of whatever is feeding it, that there is a spiritual dimension to this issue and also the need to actively work at breaking free from this addiction.

No temptation has seized you except that which is common to man. Many have gone through this before and have eventually come out safely on the other side. You can learn from the experiences of others and come through safely also.

There is a Christian movie entitled "The Smell" that deals with this issue in some detail and it should help you a lot.
