Wow, wow, wow! I'm so sorry to hear this. Did they lose your bag on the Lagos to Istanbul route? After hearing about this unfortunate incident, I'm not going to bother flying with Turkish anymore. Can't risk having an airline lose my bag in 2025. My choice is between Qatar Airways and Air Peace now. Arry110: |
Yes, you can include it as other source of income. A mutual fund account in this case would be classified as an investment on the application form. kentdealer: |
Thanks for sharing. I'm considering flying with Turkish Airlines from Lagos to London via Istanbul. Would you recommend their economy class? How was the service quality and hospitality generally speaking? Were there any cases of flight delays or missing luggage when you previously flew with them? Please let me know before I decide. Thank you.

|
Yeah I'm aware. Air Peace is about 1.2m Naira, but I'm still reluctant to fly with them. A work colleague who recently flew with them complained about their inflight entertainment system not working, though food was good. Air Peace also has a negative reputation for delays, so I'd rather not bother to be honest. Gd0007: |
Thank you. I agree Qatar Airways is very good, but I'm inclined to give Turkish Airlines a try since I've never used them before and since they appear to be quite affordable. I also noticed a significant price difference between the two airlines. Turkish Airlines is about 1.2m Naira for a round-trip (not bad), while Qatar is about 1.8 to 1.9m Naira for a round-trip after choosing seats, hence I'll be saving good money by using Turkish Airlines. Hopefully, they won't disappoint me. Arry110: |
Take the appointment confirmation letter with you to the VFS center sannies: |
Good morning everyone. I'm currently debating between using Qatar Airways to London via Doha and Turkish Airlines to London via Istanbul. I know they're both good airlines, but can anyone who has used both recommend the better option especially for layovers in Qatar or Turkey? Turkish Airlines is the more affordable option, but I'm also prioritizing excellent customer service, hospitality and safety. Thank you |
Congratulations man. Can we please discuss offline if you don't mind? My WhatsApp number is +2347058559550. I'm highly considering applying for a skilled worker (health and care) visa in the near future and so would need some guidance/tips on how to successfully navigate the process of applying for a skilled worker (health and care visa) in order to immigrate. As the sponsor, you must provide your bank statement (covering at least a 3-month period) and the person you want to sponsor must also provide his bank statement (covering at least a 3-month period). To strengthen your case, a bank reference letter can also be provided to confirm the legitimacy of funds and the banking relationship. Kwati: |
Yes, you can. I used Kenya Airways to show my flight itinerary for the visa application and was granted. However, you can also use Qatar Airways and Turkish Airlines. When I checked yesterday, a round-trip flight from Lagos to London via Doha on Qatar Airways was about 1.3m and Turkish Airlines is even cheaper, assuming you're planning to travel in March. onile1975: |
Yes, assuming you and your wife don't plan to spend extravagantly. You can budget an amount between 1,500 and 2,000 GBP for you and your wife, which is still conservative for two people since I budgeted just 1,200 GBP for myself and was granted. Look for a cheap round-trip flight for two people and try to keep costs minimal for the both of you, then if your visa is granted, you can choose to spend more. It's best to be as conservative as possible with your budget to maximize your chances of being granted the visa.

Ah this amount you quote for 2 people ?? |
Your finances and disposable income are not bad at all. There aren't many Nigerians with an average monthly disposable income of at least 600,000 Naira, so you're obviously comfortable financially. If you end up staying with your brother to cut costs (which I highly recommend), I'd say budget anything between 1,200 and 1,500 GBP for a week (including a round-trip flight), but if you choose to stay in a hotel, I'd say budget between 1,500 GBP and 2,000 GBP (max) for a week. Try to be as conservative as possible when budgeting for your trip to increase the likelihood of a successful visa application, then if your visa is granted, you can choose to spend as much as you want to spend in the UK. Good luck! Gd0007: |
To answer this question, may I please know what your average monthly earnings are like (including any additional income from allowances/bonuses) and your average monthly disposable income? You need to ensure that your proposed budget isn't significantly disproportionate to your average monthly earnings and average monthly disposable income when applying, or else wahala go dey. You can, but I would strongly advise obtaining a stamped and signed copy of your account statement from one of your Bank's branches, then upload a PDF version of this stamped and signed account statement as supporting documentation. Having it stamped and signed proves authenticity and reduces the likelihood of them having to conduct background checks, especially if your Bank is a reputable one. Also try to include a reference letter as well, if you can. borryworld: |
Haha I know right? I guess my strong ties to Nigeria, financial situation and the fact that I've been to the UK twice in the last 10 years made them overlook a minor calculation error in my cover letter. Thank you! LadyCaplin: |
Thank you so much. Femolapasta01: |

Not sure. You can find out by including the courier service as one of the additional services provided by VFS before you pay to use the VFS application center for biometrics. Gwinz: |
Appointment confirmation letter and document checklist ayo23us: |
After you complete the application form and pay, there's an option to save the completed application form, which you can upload as one of your supporting documents. onile1975: |
Good afternoon. You can upload a completed copy of your Visa Application Form under 'Proof of Application', then a copy of your passport's biodata page under 'Other'. Please just ensure all documents which will help support your case are uploaded, so UKVI doesn't have to contact you for additional documents/information, or even worse reject your application for missing documentation/information. Why not? Do anything you can to make the visa officer understand your mum's situation and your situation better. Chudycharles: |
Try this link: https://visas-immigration.service.gov.uk/applicationInProgressWarning/visit-visa-ooc-standard Please ensure you get an invitation letter from the UK government agency (your sponsor) clearly articulating why you'll be visiting the UK and the purpose of the meeting. Regarding your last question, I’m not a visa officer, so I can’t say for certain whether the visa will be approved within 15 days. Honestly, it depends on the specific application. Some applications are more complex or may require additional background checks, which could extend the processing time beyond 15 days. However, in most cases, decisions are typically made within a 15-day period. ayo23us: |
Good afternoon. Is this going to be an employer-sponsored trip? Why are you attending the meeting? There has to be a clear purpose for attending the meeting, which should be demonstrated by your employer, then attach the following supporting documentation: Bank statements (at least 3 months) Pay slips (at least 3 months) Letter of introduction from your employer/Employment contract Proof of ties to Nigeria, such as a letter from a family member in Nigeria, or documents showing property ownership/assets (if you own property/land), or/and a letter from your church, etc. Birth certificate Invitation letter from the organization/agency hosting the meeting These are the most important documents you should start collating. ayo23us: |
I really hope they don't notice or make it a big deal (if noticed). I'll indeed keep a positive mind and pray about it. *Fingers crossed* Thank you. Jolene474: |
Thank you! Mistakes are bound to happen, no matter how careful one might be. Hoping and praying for a positive outcome regardless. Do you think I should contact UKVI via a paid email to address and correct the minor typo or not really necessary at this point? Jolene474: |
Hi everyone, so I noticed a typo in my cover letter after my biometrics appointment, but not sure if it's minor or serious enough to negatively impact my chances of being granted this visa. Here's the typo: "Total Expenses (From December 1st to December 31st) = 934,870.75 Naira Disposable Income = 2,038,233.50 Naira - 936,870.75 Naira* = 1,103,362.75 Naira" So basically the asterisked 936,870.75 Naira should have been 934,870.75 Naira instead to accurately reflect expenses. Please how can VFS be contacted after biometrics before my application is forwarded to UKVI for assessment? |
VFS website seems to be malfunctioning. This is the message I've been seeing for like the past 30 minutes now: "Your appointment is not confirmed and your payment is in progress." Anyone else notice this? |
If you're in Lagos, please just go to their office to make any enquiries. Gabsy77: |
These UK visa officers can be weird people. The fact that applicants have to prove every single inflow, even if it's just a 2,000 Naira inflow from a transaction reversal is really so weird. |
The transportation budget isn't so bad for a week assuming he's only planning to use the bus/underground train as mode of transportation. It only gets really expensive when you start using the Black cab taxis/Ubers everywhere and from the airport for instance. If I were him, I'd just budget 500 GBP for a week (for food, transportation and sightseeing free attractions), and 350 GBP for accommodation, so total budget of 1,505 GBP (including flights) sounds more realistic for a week.
