Good morning. Your annual income is 1,680,000 Naira, which translates to 140,000 Naira per month, yet you want to travel to the UK for 2 months and spend 3,000 GBP? To be very frank with you, your earnings are quite low in Nigeria to be thinking of travelling abroad. Hence, I'd strongly recommend not applying until your monthly earnings hopefully increases to at least 400k or 500k per month and even if it does increase to at least 400k or 500k per month, you shouldn't be planning to visit the UK for more than 2 weeks because if applicants who earn about 1 million Naira are planning to visit for just 1 to 2 weeks, there's no plausible reason why someone earning 500,000 Naira or 140,000 Naira per month (in your case) should be visiting the UK for 2 months!

Oluwatomisin90:
Please, help me with this refusal letter. We only put 3000 because the website wasn’t allowing us to proceed and we stated that we will be fully responsible for their upkeep. Please how can this be rectified. Thank you

Good to be back on here after a wonderful vacation in the UK. I must say that London is only very expensive if you'll be paying for your own accommodation, but if you have accommodation already covered, then you have nothing to really worry about. If you have a relative, close friend, boyfriend/girlfriend who'll be accommodating you while visiting, then everything else becomes quite affordable. I was in London from March 21st till March 29th and spent about 693 GBP, which included fine dining with my girlfriend in Bishopsgate (an upscale area of London) for her birthday, lunch at a Vietnamese restaurant in the Greenwich area, lunch at a Thai restaurant within the 02-arena area, transportation on the underground train, bus and occasional Uber rides for a week, drinks and snacks for my girlfriend's house party. However, there were some minor grocery expenses and miscellaneous expenses my girlfriend willingly incurred even without me asking, which helped keep my total expenditure below 1,000 GBP. My round-trip flight on Qatar Airways from Lagos to London via Doha and via Frankfurt (due to a flight diversion after Heathrow was closed) was about 682 GBP, resulting to a total cost of about 1,375 GBP for my vacation, which didn't significantly exceed the 1,200 GBP I budgeted on the application for visa purposes. I hope this helps prove that it's very possible to visit London without breaking the bank..

Yes, it can fly. There's no hard and fast rule about how many months the account statement should cover, but it's advisable to submit at least 3 months. I submitted account statements covering the past three months and was recently granted a six-month visa. I can't disregard the fact that a strong travel history of visiting the UK twice within the last 10 years strengthened my case. Meanwhile, there are applicants who have even been denied after submitting account statements for 6 months and longer. Regarding your fixed deposit, please ensure the fixed deposit is liquidated right before your visa application, so you can prove access to liquid funds for the duration of your visit.

babstanley:
Can you guide me through my application? I intend to use 3 months statement of account and a fixed deposit of 8m. Will it fly?

Good afternoon boss. Apologies for the delayed response as I have been offline for a few days. No, you don't require a transit visa with Qatar Airways unless you'll be transiting for a minimum of 5 hours in Doha and you intend to leave the airport in Doha. However, if you only want to transit in Qatar, don't waste time and money applying for a transit visa, especially if your transit time is less than 5 hours like mine. When I checked for available flights late last month for a travel date in March, Qatar Airways was about 1.35m, while Air Peace was about 1.33m and I believe this is because March isn't usually a peak season for travellers, so flights tend to be more affordable compared to flights in the summer period (June to August) or in December for instance. However, I'd still strongly recommend Qatar Airways, despite being slightly more expensive, due to the fact that they have better hospitality. Hence, you'll be getting value for your money. As someone who has previously visited Qatar, I can attest to the fact that Hamad International AIrport is a very beautiful airport, so it's worth flying there too. Hope this answers your question.

Nysckits:
Good morning, Boss.

Would a transit visa be required when flying with Qatar Airways? Also, would you recommend them, considering they are slightly more expensive than Air Peace for the intended travel period? Airpeace is around 1.560 while Qatar is around 1.650 or 1.7 for the intended period.

Kindly advise and recommend the best option. Additionally, I’d appreciate any insights on their stopover experience, as this will be my first time traveling to the UK, and I want to ensure a smooth journey without issues at any entry point.

The planned travel month is still June 2025.

Thank you.

Hi, for authenticity, it's usually advisable to go to your bank and kindly request for a stamped and signed bank statement to be generated for the past 3-6 months. You can also attach a bank reference letter with the bank statement

b31164707:
Exactly! For instance, I paid about 1.35m for my Qatar Airways flight from Lagos to London via Doha, knowing that I'd obviously be getting much more value for my money by flying with Qatar Airways compared to Air Peace, even though I had the option of purchasing a cheaper flight ticket from Air Peace costing about 1.3m. 1.35m isn't even bad sef when the likes of BA and Virgin Atlantic are still charging 1.6m+ for a round-trip in this economy.

Sentiment is one of the wrongs we do to ourselves.

Imagine sitting in Air Peace and my seat doesn't have a charging point or my screen isn't working, after lots of reviews confirmed this and Air Peace has refused to change, but feeling too big, I should continue to patronise them since I want to promote local organisation?

If any importer is willing to sell PMS to me at ₦800/litre and Dangote sells at ₦860, I would save ₦60 by buying from that importer.

If I can't get value for money, what's the essence of patronage?

Good evening.

It'll be very difficult to ascertain why exactly you were refused and difficult for me to advise how to strengthen your application without knowing specifics about your financial profile. It seems like your savings might have been extremely inflated compared to your monthly/annual earnings, making the visa officer question how you actually accumulated such savings. For instance, if you earn about 11 million Naira per annum, and your savings account shows a USD savings balance of at least $50,000, this will very likely be flagged and highly scrutinized, compared to an applicant earning about 11 million Naira per annum, who shows a USD savings balance of around $5,000 or $6,000. Additionally, you need strong justification explaining why you need to be in the UK for as long as one month, especially when most visitors typically only visit for about 1 to 2 weeks on average. Hence, if you're travelling for an exam, you'll need to provide documentation from an exam body/institution administering the exam, which clearly proves why you need to be in the UK and when you are expected to be in the UK.

xaves:
I was sent a refusal email not long ago.
I am going to the UK for a fully funded training. I attached my payslip, salary account, letter from my employer, letter from the organisation sponsoring, family photos (I have 4 kids)
I am going with my 3 months old baby and my husband supplied letter of support and his statement of account.
I clearly explained that I work for the government and other private facilities at my convenience and I explained their payments in my salary account. So I don't know why I was refused. Because the dollar account they complained about is savings and I explained that to preserve the value of my money I put some of my savings in a dollar saving account that was why I attached it to my application. This is my second application, the first they refused me because I didn't attach my savings. I don't know what these guys want ooo.
Please I need help on how to go about this.
Thank you.

TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by b31164707: 10:41am On Feb 20, 2025
Good morning and sincere apologies for this refusal. You should have averaged your expenses over the period covered in your salary account statement, then reported this average amount as your stated monthly expenditure on the application form, then explained the debit of 1,000,000 Naira in your cover letter, since this amount significantly exceeds your monthly salary.
In addition to the letter of invitation from your friend and photographs, you should have also attached screenshots of WhatsApp chats with your friend who you're planning to stay with to prove you have a genuine relationship with your sponsor. If I were you, I wouldn't apply immediately, I'd wait till your application incorporates everything I've mentioned before re-applying in like 3 to 6 months from now. Good luck!

Okots:
Good day Gurus in the house, pls how soon can I reapply to address the reasons for refusal?

REASONS FOR REFUSAL NRA v 1.0
You have applied for a visa to visit the UK.
In deciding whether you meet the requirements of Appendix V: of the Immigration Rules for
visitors (https://www.gov.uk/guidance/immigration-rules/immigration-rules-appendix-v-visitor-
rules), I have considered:
• your application
• your immigration history
The decision
I have refused your application for a visit visa because I am not satisfied that you meet the
requirements of paragraph(s) V4.2 to V4.6 of Appendix V: Immigration Rules for Visitors
because:
• You state you are travelling to the UK for 9 days for tourism and visiting friends.
• You state you are employed earning 339542.00 NGN (178.37 GBP) each month. you state
you spend 120000.00 NGN (63.04 GBP) each month. In support of your application, you
have provided a bank statement for account ending in 5716. I note a debit of 1000000
NGN (525.33 GBP) on 03/12/2024. This single debit is significantly higher than your total
stated monthly expenditure. In the absence of further information, I am not satisfied that
you have provided a true reflection of your circumstances in your home country. This
damages the credibility of your application.
• Additionally, you state you will be staying with a friend at her accommodation for the
duration of your visit. I acknowledge the letter of invitation and photographs you have
provided in support of this. However, I note this does not demonstrate the stated
relationship you have with your sponsor. You have not demonstrated that you have
regularly kept in touch and have subsisting relationship. As such, I am not satisfied you
have a genuine personal relationship with your sponsor, and they will provide the stated
support during your visit. This also damages the credibility of your application leading me
to doubt your intentions to travel are as stated.
• The factors mentioned above have not been taken in isolation but considered collectively.
They damage the overall credibility of your application, leading me to doubt your intentions
in seeking to visit the UK for the limited period and purpose stated. From the information
on your application form and the documents you have submitted, I am not satisfied that
you intend to leave the United Kingdom or that you are genuinely seeking entry as a visitor.
Your application is therefore refused under paragraph V4.2 (a) and (c) of the Immigration
Rules.
• Additionally, I am not satisfied that you have a genuine professional or personal
relationship with your sponsor. Furthermore, I am not satisfied that they can and will
provide you with support for the intended duration of your stay. Your application is
therefore refused under paragraph V 4.3 (a) and (c) of the Immigration Rules.
• Rate of exchange 1 GBP = 1901.78 NGN (as on www.oanda.com 19/02

Why are you weird?
You never use the 6 months visa yet, you are talking about 5 years?
What do you want a 5 year visit visa for when you not a grandma going to the UK every year to spend holiday? Lol

You just got 6 months, there are other countries you can visit. Ah abeg.
You are asking someone who got a 5 year visa if he or she submitted a 3 or 6 months bank statement? Does that sound right for someone who claimed they just got their visa too?
If they gave you 6 months visa with your 3 months statement and explanation as you claimed then use it again for the 5 years when time comes..
It worked for you so why do you need someone else info to know what to do? Nawa oo

Fair enough.

Yes, you can > I just made the argument that i intend to be travelling more frequently going forward (for exploration and to see family) and want to avoid the hassle of having to renew frequently.

I submitted bank statements for 4 months (wanted to submit for 3 but needed to show salary increase in the 4th month).

Other documents submitted included:
Employment and salary review letters
Payslips
Proof of investments (mutual funds, shares, eurobonds, crypto)
Pension statement and TCC
Certificate of medical coverage from employer provided insurance coy
Cover letter explaining significant credits/debits in my account and pattern of account operation (conversion to/from USD, transfers out to investment account etc)
Detailed supporting evidence for significant transactions (e.g. for large purchases i added receipts, for credits related to reimbursement of work expenses i included source receipts, screenshot of approval of the expense from the expense app, remittance advice note from employer all for the same amount etc >> I told visa officer in the cover letter that i would only provide this detailed paper trail for a sample of the significant credits/debits, not all transactions, which was deemed fair enough)
Pictures of myself, my parents, my younger ones for home ties
Pictures with and details of relatives in the UK

Big congratulations! I just recently secured a 6-month visa myself and was wondering if I could go from a 6-month visa to a 5-year tourist visa without applying for a 2-year visa first. So you can actually apply for a 5-year tourist visa without first of all applying for a 2-year tourist visa? Did you submit bank statements for the most recent three- or six-month period?

Ithaca:
Visa alert!

5-year tourist visa.

Biometrics date: 5th of Feb
Decision date: 18th of Feb
Collection date: 19th of Feb

Previous visas - 6 month UK visa used once.

My advice > whenever anything is not clear, over explain. Best case is to have clean account statements, but even if it's not, as long as the transactions in your account are genuine and you can clearly explain the pattern of account activity (backed up with evidence upon evidence), you will be fine.

Visa officers are reasonable people, just make clear, evidence backed claims to give them enough to work with.

TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by b31164707: 8:02am On Feb 18, 2025
Good morning and sincere apologies for this refusal. You might want to reach out to the UK Home Office/UKVI via email to appeal their decision. If their decision doesn't change, then in your next application, please ensure you clearly highlight all salary credits in your salary account statement and make sure you explicitly state in your cover letter that all salary credits have been highlighted in your salary account statement. You might also want to consider providing account statements covering a three-month period, so reviewing your financial evidence is less time consuming for the visa officer. I submitted account statements for a three-month period clearly highlighting all salary credits and was granted. Having a strong travel history also helps, so if you've been to the UK before or any other highly regarded country with stringent visa requirements, e.g. the U.S., Canada, or a Schengen country, you can easily get away with submitting financial evidence for the most recent three-month period like I did.

KristyTO:
Please I need an advise on my Visa application refusal, it stated the reason was that my personal bank statement shows no salary credit but I have evidence of salary credited each month on my bank statement and I also included my payslips for the last 6 months. I’m think the UKVI omitted checking all my statements attached. How can I go about resolving this issue please.

I'm checking on the websites of these airlines, but the price will ultimately depend on when you want to travel to be honest. When are you planning to travel? I'm seeing these prices for a travel date in the week of March 17th. Note that there usually isn't high demand for air travel in March compared to during the summer season (June to August) and Christmas season (December), so I guess that's why.

Jolene474:
Personally I always strive to use National Carriers when I’m visiting a country, except they don’t have.
I would always advise anyone traveling to also use Qatar Airways, they serve good jollof rice from Lagos route to Doha, I’ve not used them to London but when someone I knew went to London with Qatar, they flew 787 Dream Liner from Lagos which is super comfortable and the fly AirBus A380 (the king of the skies) aircraft from Doha to London, this plane don’t come to Nigeria because of our airport structures, only Ethiopia and South Africa this special plane can fly into, and he said it was just the best flight. So if you can’t afford British Airways, then take Qatar.
Turkish Airline from Lagos has bad food and they use an old AirBus A330 or so.
If you don’t use BA or Qatar Airways then certainly go for AirPeace.
