Thanks alot, will sure do. will try to attach me NoA after filing for my tax and also explain my full time job as my primary source of income rather than the parttime job (24-44hrs) that was used as yardstick for refusal, also a bank statement that shows the breakdone of my savings and monthly income. I hope my explanation and documents will be sufficient for reconsideration bullstriker: Do the following to address the Officer's concern about insufficient funds,
If you have started working full-time (minimum of 30 hrs), get an updated employment letter from your employer stating that you are now a full-time worker (minimum of 30 hours per week). If you made a decent amount last year, provide your Statement of Remuneration Paid (T4) and Notice of Assessment (NoA). Transfer the POF into your spouse’s bank account and provide a gift deed stating that the funds are for your child’s living expenses in Canada.
The above documents attest to the source of the funds and should allay the VO's concerns. All the best. |

Do you think the $16000 balance can be used for them i.e $4000* 3= $12000 and $4000 for caregiver and miscellaneous expenses. Yes, an autorized consent letter from their dad will be submitted as well and also as a co-sponsor JMG12: As earlier stated, you need to add their dad as a co-sponsor, and also obtain their authorized consent for them. You also need to factor in the caregiver fee based on your work schedule in your POF. You need to submit an account statement for yourself, not a letter. Work on the POF submitted from Nigeria. Each person will need like $4,000CAD per year, multiply that's $12,000 already for them for a year, with caregiver charges and other miscellaneous expenses. |

Okay, thanks you, will sure work on this JMG12: What you should do is add a sponsor, maybe the dad or a close family member, and proof of relationship. You will need consent from the dad too because they are still minors. |

Thanks for your response once again but Unfortunately, i work as a homecare which is a Teer 4 ( full time job), the community Service is a part time job amnotapervert: That’s good. Working both as a PSW and a Community Service Worker means you may qualify under the Healthcare and Social Services Occupations draw.
From my understanding and a bit of research:
(1) NOC 42201 – Social and community service workers (This covers Community Service Worker roles.)
(2) NOC 33102 – Nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates (This typically covers roles like Personal Support Worker (PSW), when the duties match.)
That’s a very good position to be in. It may even be better if you take your time and apply for PR for yourself and your kids that could be the best option for you. Work for at least 12 months, write the IELTS, and make sure your CRS points are high enough.
All the best. I hope and pray you come back soon so we can all celebrate you getting PR for your family.

Reasons for the refusal of your application To help you understand why your application was refused, below are the Officer Decision Notes (ODN) specific to your application as they are displayed in IRCC’s system. These notes were entered by the officer who assessed and made the final decision on your application. • I have reviewed the application. The purpose of the applicant'svisit to Canada is not consistent with a temporary stay given the details provided in the application. Applicant is a minor travelling to Canada with only one parent. They have not provided a signed declaration of consent and passport from the non-accompanying parent. The applicant's assets and financial situation are insufficient to support the stated purpose of travel for the applicant (and any accompanying family member(s), if applicable). The applicant is a minor who has applied for a study permit to join parent in Canada on a work permit until 2027-05-17. Applicant's expenses to be covered by their parents. Inviter parent has provided a bank letter that confirms account balances captured on the date of letter issue. Transaction history for these accounts, demonstrating the flow of funds, has not been included. Nigeria bank statement shows routinely low funds. Employment letter indicates that the sponsor parent works between 24-44 hours weekly depending on available shifts. Inconsistent schedule noted. Based on the documentation provided, I am not satisfied that the sponsors have provided sufficient evidence of their unhindered access to a stable source of funds to support their dependents and themselves during their proposed stay in Canada. Based on the financial documents submitted, I am not satisfied that the applicant has sufficient funds to pay for living expenses for the proposed studies. Weighing the factors in this application, I am not satisfied that the applicant will depart Canada at the end of the period authorized for their stay. For the reasons above, I have refused this application. bullstriker: Could you state what the ODN mentioned as the reason for the refusal? |

1. The 15 & 13 years old are meant to be enrolled in Government high school (which are tuition free) and the 10years in an elementary school 2. Tuition free because they are minors 3. Average of $5800 per month 4. Yes, I am JMG12: I have some questions to ask you. Below are my questions What institution? What is their tuition fee? What is your pay? Are you the only sponsor? |

Thanks alot for your response, my husband isnt coming with them, so he was used as the strong ties at home. I work as both PSW and Community Service worker Will try and explore the attached link . Thanks once again amnotapervert: I am sorry about the refusal. I know that can be very frustrating, especially when it involves your children.
If I may ask, what about your husband/ Father of the kids? That can help us understand the scenario from IRCC’s perspective.
Since you are on a temporary visa, the officer may believe that if your children come to Canada, there would be fewer ties to Nigeria. For “insufficient ties,” because your children are minors, the officer mainly assesses ties through you.
They may feel that if you do not get PR after your work permit expires, you may have little reason to return to Nigeria.
Regarding insufficient funds, bringing three children on a single income can raise concerns. Unless you are in the top income bracket ($120,000 above) supporting a family of four in Canada is expensive.
For a family of four (you + 3 children), officers may expect to see approximately $25,000–$35,000+ in available funds (depending on the province and whether tuition is involved). If you showed only $16,000 in total savings, that may have contributed to the refusal.
To strengthen a future application, you would need to clearly demonstrate that you will leave Canada if you do not obtain permanent residence when your work permit expires. Strong ties to your home country (employment prospects, property, spouse, extended family, financial commitments, etc.) can help.
It may be wise to have a professional review your case. You can search for a licensed immigration consultant in your city to properly assess your situation and advise on the best next steps.

kobobay: On 31st of December, 2025. Ontario, an healthcare worker (PSW & community service worker)
When did you apply? What province are you? What do you do? How much do you make? The officer puts all of these into consideration while access your kids applications. I'm in the same shoe with you. I applied for my three kids since November 2025 but not heard back from them. |

Greetings to everyone on this thread. Please i need assistance.
I am an international student of a college in Canada ( already in Canada & its a 2nd course) and would love to bring in my children but Im skeptical of using the direct study route for them. Their ages are;13years, 12years and 8years.
Please, my question is , what is the route of application to bring them in for study and also with this new rule limiting college international students, is study application for them advisable?
Will look forward to the gurus in the house response.
Thanks in anticipation |
