President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday has said that Boko Haram members and other terrorists groups are no Muslims. He said that their violent activities such as murders and bombing have no basis in Islam.

“Boko Haram killing innocent children and women in market places, in mosques, schools definitely has nothing to do with religion. What is happening globally now has no religious basis,” he said while receiving a delegation of the Muslim community during a courtesy call on him on the occasion of the Eid-el-Kabir, in Abuja.

“A number of things that has to do with our belief system suppose to encourage us to see our neighbours as ourselves. on friday, a British Aid worker was slaughtered by ISIS and that is not Islamic,” he told the delegation led by Vice President Namadi Sambo.
He also added:” For us as a nation, this period we should use it to charge ourselves, call on ourselves, encourage ourselves to continue to pray for the forgiveness of those who are doing things that are not religious and for Allah to see us through.

“I believe in this country, I believe that Nigeria has a lot to offer not only to Nigerians but to the world and that surely we will get to where we want to go.”

Abubakar Shekau, has release a 36 minutes video claiming he's alive that nothing will kill him unless Allah takes his life, meanwhile the (defence head quater abuja) and (Agence-France-Presse) has claim that the Nigeria military has killed a man posing as boko haram leader. it is good that they claim he was posing as the boko haram leader, but not him.


Shekau, in the new video, dismissed claims by Nigerian military that he has been killed. In fact, Shekau said he and his boys have started implementing Islamic law in towns they have captured in Nigeria:

video, adding that Boko Haram is “running our... Islamic caliphate” and strictly administering Sharia punishments...
It would be recalled that the Nigeria’s military said Shekau was dead and that a man who had been posing as the group’s leader in the videos had been shot dead after fighting with troops in the far northeast.

Nigerian women forced to work in the sex trade has been highlighted by Paris-based photographer Elena Perlino, originally from Italy. These Nigerian women are being trafficked to Italy under the pretence that they will be working as nannies or in factories – but often end up working the streets as prostitutes.

She began to notice the presence of young African women working on the streets during her commutes from Turin. She said:

‘I decided to start from this surreal vision to tell a story. I have been working on the topic for several years, focusing mainly on the Italian connection.’
Perlino reveals that many Nigerian women come to Italy hoping to make enough money from honest work as nannies or factory workers to support their families back home, but are tricked by traffickers into working in the sex trade. Arrests, violence and abuse often follow.

Traffickers demand on average more than 50,000 euros (US $60,000) for travel expenses and accommodation, with the women having to work as prostitutes until their debts are paid off. Eighty per cent of women trafficked to Italy come from Benin City, Edo State, in south Nigeria.

The Australian priest who tried to negotiate the release of the over 200 Chibok girls abducted by Boko Haram,says he will in due course name ‘bigger sponsors’ of the sect.

Dr.Stephen Davis who has already named former governor of Borno state, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, and former chief of army staff, Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika, as backers of the sect told the on-line publication ,The Cable,that the sponsors “epitomise all that the Boko Haram fighters are seeking to eliminate from Nigeria.”
He dismissed insinuation that Boko Haram commanders named the All Progressives Congress (APC) as their sponsor.
“ I have been in close contact with the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) and Boko Haram over several years. In that time, I have never heard any political party mentioned by any Boko Haram leader as funding or being associated with Boko Haram,” he said.
“The JAS leaders and Boko Haram commanders have only mentioned individuals like former Governor Sheriff. I heard Sheriff was APC and now PDP but his political party is irrelevant to me. I have never mentioned political parties in my discussions with the JAS and Boko Haram. The names of individual sponsors were given by Boko Haram leaders, not their political party association.”
He added: “Former governor Sheriff was specifically mentioned many times. For example, Sheriff was mentioned as sponsoring trips for the boys to go for the Lesser Hajj. There the boys are “reorientated”. “In effect they are recruited to Boko Haram. When they return to Nigeria the recruits are then taken off for further reorientation by which they mean teaching and for training. Some of the training took place in Mali by Tuareg leaders but now more training is conducted locally.”

After the collapse of the Hotel building (SCOAN) premises, which resulted in the death of over 80 people, Lagos state government announced that the building was substandard, hence, the collapse.

For one, it smacks of indecency and intemperate language to liken our dear nation Nigeria, to hell fire. That cannot be true. We believe that Nigeria is a growing nation, green and largely peaceful.

While the Nigeria Police and other operators in the criminal justice sector are undergoing systematic reforms, and aligning themselves with the demands of democracy, there is no gain saying the fact that the Nigeria Police Force has since improved its operational efficiency and effectiveness. Since the dawn of democracy in 1999, the Nigeria Police Force has significantly improved on its human rights records, owing largely to training and re-training, community policing, attitudinal change and structural transformation.

Governor Fashola hosted some Ebola survivors in his office today at the state Secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja. the governor commended them for coming forward to share their testimonies. he says that they are the proof that the disease is not a death sentence. thank God for their lives.
