HOLD YOUR BREATH!
As Federal lawmaker builds 4 stadia in Borno

By
Yakubu Ahmed-BK

It is unheard of, for a federal lawmaker to become an all-rounder in the execution of constituency projects in Nigeria. One has emerged in Borno state.

Muktar Betara Aliyu, a member of the House of Representatives has proved that, with the utmost love for his people and a selfless mien, a lawmaker can fill that gap where local, state and federal governments - for obvious reasons of too many competing areas, could just not jell.

He has already scored brilliantly in the area of provision of infrastructures like roads, hospitals, water supply as well as scoring more highly in humanitarian and human capacity building initiatives. It is on record that he has done much more than any single lawmaker, at whatever level, in the way he commits his entire constituency projects funds to the development of his constituency. This is aside his penchant to lobby for projects all around federal authorities where such provisions are available.

He represents Biu, Bayo, Shani and Kwaya Kusar federal constituency in Borno state and his people in all the nooks and crannies of the four local government areas have attested to the fact that no one, in the history of representation has done as much in all facets.

After executing many multi billion Naira projects to the satisfaction of his constituency, Muktar Betara Aliyu went a notch higher by building four mini stadia in four locations across the four local government areas.

The world class mini stadia, one each in Shani, Kwaya Kusar, Mirnga and Biu have already been delivered. Only the one in Biu, that is being rehabilitated, is at 80% completion stage currently. The other three, started from the scratch, have fully been completed and are ready to go.

Sports stadiums in the Biu area are important facilities that could become decisive in the overall development of the area. The entire landscape making up the constituency is known as Borno’s most educationally advanced. With the benefit of education, the youth in the areas require standard sports facilities to develop their mental capacity and test their sporting prowess. The idea is for those who could excel in sporting activities to make a career out of it even at international stage, by having access to standard training grounds and facilities.

Do you know that during dialysis, blood is removed from the body through the red tube, passed through the dialysis machine, and then reintroduced into the body through the blue tube.

This process is repeated for four hours while the patient remains immobile in bed.

The procedure is carried out three times a week, which results in twelve times a month, and each time it takes four hours, which results in a total of forty-eight hours a month.

For those not affected, this process of flushing your kidneys occurs automatically 36 times every day with zero effort or discomfort.

Always be grateful for what you have.

BETARA: The Federal Lawmaker Who Built 72 Roads in Biu
…His infrastructure outlay will awe you on end

By
Yakubu Ahmed-BK

Borno, the home state of Governor Zulum and Senator Shettima - the two most active governors of their time and architects of modern Borno, has produced, arguably the best performing House of Representatives member and one of the best three performing National Assembly members in Nigeria.

Muktari Betara, representing Biu, Bayo, Kwaya Kusar and Shani federal constituency in Borno state has, by the records of his activities in the National Assembly and in the area of projects execution in his constituency, outboxed any other member in the history of presidential system of democracy representation in the country.

The records of his achievements are simply legion, unprecedented and unbelievable. He represents four local government areas in the House of Representatives, with one of them - Biu as having the most educated people in Borno state. At the last count, there was no local government in his constituency that has not benefitted from one form of mega infrastructure or the other that have defined his courage, sense of justice, fair representation, generosity, selflessness and broadmindedness.

In Biu, the biggest of them, Muktari Betara has constructed a total of 72 roads, all of them fully asphalted with full complement of standard drainage and in some instances, walkways. Biu has suffered from lack of network of roads, a situation that had worried residents for many years.

The Betara roads in Biu are just a tip of the iceberg of his performance overall, and just one critical sector that he has touched in his constituency. It is on record that he has, arguably, done far better than any federal lawmaker in Nigeria in the quantum of his interventions and the broadness of his infrastructure outlay.

His youths and women development and empowerment initiatives covering the entire length and breadth of the four local governments are unparalleled.

How has the lawmaker sourced the funds to execute these multi billion naira projects and programs in a country that is largely bereft of such achievements? Aisha Ibrahim, one of his media aides and a respected journalist in Borno state and Nigeria at large explained that although funding from his constituency project budgetary allocations have played a significant part in the delivery, Betara’s connections, reach, restlessness in locating several funding outlets and his personal resources among others have all accounted for the success he has recorded in alleviating the suffering of his people and dividends of democracy delivery that is second to none in the country.

Next in this series of showcasing “The Betara Magic”, we shall dwell on how far he has gone to, to construct several standard sports stadiums in strategic parts of his constituency as a way of promoting sports to engage the millions of budding sports talents in his constituency.

Iran Votes to Execute Protesters, Says Rebels Need 'Hard Lesson'
BY THOMAS KIKA

IRAN

EXECUTION

After numerous calls for harsh punishments in recent days, the Iranian parliament on Tuesday voted overwhelmingly in favor of the death penalty for protesters.

Iran has been experiencing unprecedented levels of protests and civil unrest since the death of Mahsa Amini on September 16. The 22-year-old Kurdish woman was arrested by the country's "morality police" for supposedly wearing an "improper" form of hijab during a visit to Tehran and allegedly beaten severely while in custody. The beatings are believed to have led to her death from a fatal head injury, but Iranian authorities have denied the accusation.

In the wake of Amini's death, there have been large-scale nationwide protests the likes of which Iran has not seen in decades. Female protesters have notably taken to burning their hijabs and cutting their hair in public in defiance of the rules imposed by Iran's Islamic government, under the leadership of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei
Iranian lawmakers have, in recent days, called for strict punishments for the protesters who have been arrested. On Monday, CNN reported that a letter signed by 227 members of the Iranian parliament urged that the protesters be given harsh punishment that "would serve as a good lesson in the shortest possible time."

Here is the follow up to the earlier story

YUSUF IBRAHIM FISH SELLER FORGIVES SHEEP

Malam Yusuf Ibrahim, the fried fish seller who caused a stir by causing a sheep to be arrested and detained by the Police in Maiduguri, Borno state has forgiven the offending sheep. It has since been released by the Bulabulin Divisional Police Headquarters on account of a settlement brokered.

The fish seller had complained bitterly that the sheep belonging to Luba Mohammed of the same Bulabulin neighborhood had caused him losses by raiding his selling point and taking mouthfuls of fried fish for upward of five years.

The raid yesterday, he said, was huge and he cannot just forgo it. As a result, it was arrested and detained by the Police yesterday.

Yusuf confirmed to a reporter that elders in the community succeeded in talking him into forgiving the transgression. The owner of the sheep, Luba Mohammed had mobilized community elders to intercede.

The fish seller said he has given conditions that what happened should not repeat itself. He extracted commitment from the owner to take care of her animals. Any repeat, it was agreed, will lead to legal action for redress.

FISH SELLER WHO FORGAVE SHEEP GETS N50,000 REWARD
…Hon Hussaini Monguno asks for account details

By
Yakubu Ahmed-BK

Yusuf Ibrahim, the Maiduguri based fried fish seller who made news yesterday for causing a sheep that had eaten his fried fish to be arrested and detained by the police is N50,000 richer.

Honorable Husseini Monguno who is member of the Board of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) and a member of the APC presidential campaign council, appeared to have been impressed by the magnanimity of the fish seller and he got across to me to source for the man’s account details for immediate remittance of N50,000.

Hussaini Monguno said that the big heart exhibited by the fish seller and the capacity he exhibited of tolerating the sheep’s endless raids for five years, was impressive and highly magnanimous and thus deserving of his reward.

He remarked that his intention was to help Yusuf Ibrahim to recover from his loses and recapitalize.

He noted that small businesses such as Yusuf’s have the tendency to fall under the weight of being eaten up intermittently and can easily go under.

He called on animal owners to take care of their domestic animals by feeding them and disallowing them to roam the neighborhood to cause havoc to small business owners.
Meanwhile, efforts have began to get the account details of the beneficiary or in the alternative to look for an intermediary to hand over the money to him.
