BABACHIR: Teaching the bigot the lesson of his life:

By
Yakubu Ahmed-BK

His anger was palpable. The invectives and arrogance he filled his dirty mouth with traversed the landscape causing some form of trepidation amongst chicken hearted Nigerians.

As soon as it was announced that Bola Ahmed Tinubu had picked Kashim Shettima as his running mate, the former Secretary to the government of the federation Babachir Lawan (the grasscutter) lost his cool and went gaga, promising to teach the APC a lesson. His grouse was that the Muslim/Muslim ticket had altered his bigoted and self serving thinking, and as such, he will lead the Christian population of the North in particular and their brethren in other parts of the country in general to torpedo whatever success the sorry was angling to get.

He was joined by former speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara in quitting the APC and pledging to teach the party a lesson. True to their promise, the two men went ahead to openly organize all manner of meetings during which they mobilized their brothers - all in an attempt to incite the Christian population to reject the Muslim/Muslim ticket, by which they intend to prove to Nigerians that a single faith ticket could just not fly in Nigeria. While at it, Babachir was unapologetic in his crusade to prove a point, that what the APC had done was dead on arrival. He went about it spicing his speeches with hates and tantrums, promising to bring down the roof on the whole country.

He voyaged into the Labor party while his brother Yakubu Dogara found his way into the PDP, in a clear deliberate plan not to put their eggs in one basket.

As the indices are currently showing, their plans have come to naught and gone up in smoke. The pack of religious cards they bandied about came crashing down before their very eyes, as they are being forced to learn the lessons of their lives the hard way. Instead of fulfilling their promise of teaching the APC a lesson, they are now running around like rain beaten chickens and with their tails in between their legs, cocooning their faces in the shame of their lives.
They have been taught a lesson, that the numbers they think they have are merely in their jaundiced imagination. They have now learnt that they are inconsequential in the political calculus of Nigeria. They have been forced to perish that naughty and arrogant feeling that they have any power to force political parties to pet them and covet their support. They now know that, whatever consideration or patronage they used to enjoy in the past, was merely out of the desire to spread goodies and not because they are, by political strength, deserving of them. Unfortunately, Babachir thought that his appointment as SGF by President Muhammadu Buhari was due to some clout and relevance of his place of birth, his religion and the indispensability of his contributions in attaining political victory.

Babachir deceived himself and sadly cajoled some likeminded fools to follow him blindfold into a ditch of infamy and irrelevance.

And until they retrace their misguided steps by reading the compass without sentiment, they have successfully boxed themselves into a very tight corner. From thence on, Babachir and his bigoted ilk will become lepers and out of reckoning for life.

PoliticsThe Arithmetic Of Atiku’s Impending Failure by backtalkG(op): 9:59am On Feb 24, 2023
THE ARITHMETIC OF ATIKU’S IMPENDING FAILURE

By
Yakubu Ahmed-BK

Both Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the APC and Peter Obi of the LP have the potentiality of amassing votes, in quantum, from the Siuth West and the South East respectively in tomorrow’s presidential contest. Tinubu is expected to garner as much as 70% of the votes from the South West, ditto for Obi in the South East.

So, from which geo-political zone does Atiku Abubakar of the PDP expects to get even 60% solid votes? Can anybody guarantee an Atiku outright win in the North East? Are we talking of the North East where the golden boy of Nigerian politics, Senator Kashim Shettima is already doing the press ups to give Atiku a bloody nose? There are solid indications, that Atiku Abubakar cannot achieve the 60% feat even in Adamawa state. If he cannot post any convincing win in the North East, how then can he hope to make the kind of showing in the North West and the North Central, to argument the beating that awaits him in both the South West and the South East?

Or can anybody foresee a 70% win for Atiku in the South South, to add up to the votes he may get in the North to make him president?

Come to think of it! In 2011, Muhammadu Buhari got in excess of 12 million votes in the North and yet did not become president. Can Atiku win as much on the average, in the North, to give him a good starting point to ever hope of a landslide? Let us assume, for the purpose of giving him a dog’s chance, that he gets 60% of the votes in the North, from where is he getting the volume and spread required to make him president? The emergence of Obi in the Labor Party and Kwankwaso in the NNPP has done incalculable damage to Atiku’s chances in the traditional stronghold of the PDP. Obi will eat up the Atiku’s harvest of votes in the South East and in parts of the Christian North, while Kwankwaso damages any chance he has of posing a threat to Tinubu in Kano and possibly in Katsina.

The fact of the matter is that Atiku and Tinubu will share the votes in the North with Tinubu having an edge. He will be roundly and soundly defeated in the South West and the South East while the South South becomes a battle ground for the three parties to box it out.

In the end, Atiku will be lucky to come third in this race. Tinubu will win it while Obi follows in the second position.

TINUBU WILL WORK THROUGH NIGERIA’S FAULTLINES TO MAKE IT GREAT
…Maibindiga assures pro-Tinubu group

A member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed-BK (Maibindiga) has assured the thousands of pro-Tinubu/Shettima support groups that the so-called faultlines that have been alleged to have stalled Nigeria’s development will not hinder Bola Ahmed Tinubu when he eventually becomes President.

He told the executive members of the Bat’Shet Presidential Movement, Kebbi state chapter in Birnin Kebbi today, that the combination of Tinubu and Shettima have individually and at various times dealt with very serious anti-progress situations which posed challenges to them while they served as Governors of Lagos and Borno states.

He noted that while Lagos became the third largest economy in Africa and the safest in Nigeria on account of Tinubu’s strategic leadership acumen, Kashim Shettima fought a mindless and blood thirsty insurgency in all of his eight years in office and still posted an unprecedented and uncommon string of top flight performance that is still being talked about today.

Alhaji Yakubu, who attended the group’s emergency meeting in Birnin Kebbi as a special guest, informed the members that both Tinubu and Shettima have, between them records of high level problem-solving and talent-hunting and assured that Nigeria will be in very safe hands with the duo in charge.

Chairman of the group, Hon. Muhammad Dantani Kanya had earlier spoken about the efforts the group has made to establish branches in all the 21 local government areas of Kebbi state.

He said, of all the 36 branches of the Movement in Nigeria, the Kebbi state branch has been adjudged as one of the most active by the national headquarters. The Chairman expressed the willingness of the Movement in Kebbi state to exploit its support base all over the state to mobilize the citizenry to vote for the APC candidates.

He said their decision to support Tinubu and Shettima was because they have discovered, after an extensive study of the candidates and their backgrounds, that the APC ticket is way ahead of them all in terms of pedigree, capacity, patriotism and readiness to take the bull by the horns in dealing with Nigerians multifaceted problems.

A letter appointing Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed as the Patron of the Movement in Kebbi state was handed over to the appointee by the Chairman flanked by members of the executive council.

SportsFIFA Rankings Explained by backtalkG(op): 4:01pm On Dec 24, 2022
FIFA rankings explained:

Cameroon gained 28.86 points to move up 10 places, Argentina gained 64.5 to move to 2nd while Brazil lost only 0.53 points to stay 1st.

Summarily, teams gain and lose points in the rankings based on clearcut parameters. The calibre of opponent faced is a key criterion. This explains why Cameroon's lone win against Brazil enabled the Indomitable Lions move from 43rd to 33rd. If Cameroon's lone win had come against a lowly ranked side, Cameroon would not have gained as many points.

WHY ARGENTINA COULD NOT AMASS ENOUGH

FIFA rules also indicate that a win inside regular time counts more than a win in extra time or penalties. Note that Argentina won two of their games on penalties.

Also, FIFA stipulates that just like a win against a highly ranked side yields many points, a loss against a lowly ranked side leads to massive point loss. Note again that Argentina lost against Saudi Arabia, losing 39 points in the process. Other results helped Argentina recover and eventually gain 64.5 points.

Brazil meanwhile had a comfortable margin on the top of the rankings coming into the World Cup. They dropped points against Cameroon but penalty shootout loss did not do them much harm and other results meant they limited their damage to an overall loss of 0.53 points.

At the end, Argentina did not gain enough to go top. If Argentina had won their two shootout games in regular time, the Albiceleste would have had enough to be 1st. They are currently 2.9 points behind Brazil.

NIGERIA STILL ABOVE GHANA

According to FIFA rules, test or friendly matches yield less than tournament matches. Nigeria lost 4.15 points due to defeats in friendlies, while Ghana gained 7 points notably thanks to their World Cup win over South Korea. The points gained only took them to 58th position with 1400.02 points. They are still below 35th placed Nigeria that has 1494.32 points.

MOROCCO

From the above, you can also understand why Morocco gained a whopping 108.85 points. They beat two highly ranked sides (Belgium and Portugal) in regular time while drawing with two other high profile teams Croatia and Spain in regular time, and even beating the Spanish side on penalties.

The current ranking considered the period from October 6th 2022 to December 22nd 2022.

Court adjourns case till 6th of March 2023

Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister for Justice grows cold feet

Honourable Justice Peter Odo Lifu of Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos has adjourned till 6th of March 2023 the suit seeking for the Recovery and Forfeiture of over N70 trillion of looted funds in the hands of few Nigerians.

The revered Justice presided over the suit marked No: Fhc/L/Cs/968/2021 on the 7th of March 2022 and adjourned to the 31st of March 2022 for ruling before the last adjournment till March next year.

The money said to be stashed away in 29 bank accounts mainly in Zenith and First banks is enough to fund Nigeria’s budget for three years with some change to keep. The proposed budget for 2023 is N20.5 trillion, meaning that the N70 trillion hidden by some Nigerians could effectively finance the national budget for three years.

Attempts by Muhammad T. Ismail (a private investigator) and his team to recover the N70 trillion through the office of Ndarani (SAN) & Co (Solace Law Chambers) have met a brick wall as some vested interests in high places have moved in to frustrate the case.

The investigator lamented that all efforts to recover the said loot were being frustrated by some vested interests in the Presidency, Central Bank Nigeria, Zenith Bank and First Bank.

Below is the full deposition made by the investigator:

*BRIEF ON THE RECOVERY AND FORFEITUURE OF OVER N70 TRILLION NAIRA OF LOOTED FUNDS IN THE HANDS OF FEW NIGERIANS IN SUIT NO: FHC/L/CS/968/2021.*

1. Muhammad T. Ismail (a private investigator) and his team were able to identify fraudulent bank accounts where trillions of illicit funds belonging to the Federal Government of Nigeria were domiciled. Mohammad T. Ismail needed a legal instrument to recover these illicit funds to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

2. Muhammad T. Ismail therefore approached Ndarani (SAN) & Co (Solace Law Chambers) and instructed him to write and request for a letter of mandate/instruction from the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister for Justice, and also from the Minister of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on his behalf, for the recovery of the illicit funds hidden in some secret bank accounts in Nigeria. These funds belong to the Federal Government of Nigeria. This letter from Muhammad T. Ismail was received and acknowledged on the 6th of January 2021 by the Head of Department of Civil Litigation in the Ndarani (SAN) & Co (Solace Law Chambers), Barr. Saidu Alfa Bala.

3. Muhammad T. Ismail also swore to an Affidavits on the same date of 6th of January 2021 in support of the instruction given to Ndarani (SAN) & Co (Solace Law Chambers).

4. As instructed and being convinced of the facts available, Ndarani (SAN) & Co (Solace Law Chambers) wrote to the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, the Minister of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning and also to the Accountant General of the Federation. Ndarani (SAN) & Co (Solace Law Chambers) requested for a mandate and instruction to recover Federal Government looted and hidden funds on behalf of his client who is Muhammad T. Ismail. (Copies of all these letters and correspondences will be made available to you on request).

5. The Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice responded on the 14th of January 2021 by way of inviting Ndarani (SAN) & Co (Solace Law Chambers) for a meeting scheduled for the 19th of January 2021 to discuss details and procedures for the recovery with the Asset Recovery Unit in the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice. Twenty Nine (29) bank accounts where a combined sum of over seventy trillion naira (N70 Trillion) belonging to the Federal Government was hidden were identified.

6. On the 21st of June 2021, The Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice approved and issued the letter of instruction to recover illicit funds traced to specified accounts of individuals to Ndarani (SAN) & Co (Solace Law Chambers). The letter of instruction also listed the twenty nine (29) bank accounts. The twenty nine (29) bank accounts are in seventeen (17) banks in Nigeria.

7. As expected, Ndarani (SAN) & Co (Solace Law Chambers) ran to the Federal High Court 9, Ikoyi Lagos where most of the Bank Head Quarters are domiciled. The case was between (1) The Federal Republic of Nigeria (2). The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice as Claimants/Applicants against the seventeen banks as Defendants.

8. On the 9th of August, 2021, Hon. Justice T. G. Ringim gave several orders including an Interim Order of Forfeiture. All the Banks were served accordingly. The Banks were also to provide Ndarani (SAN) & Co (Solace Law Chambers) all documents and information relating to the listed accounts.

9. Shockingly, the Banks could not provide information regarding the ownership of twenty six (27) out of the twenty nine (29) accounts. That automatically meant that all the funds in the twenty seven (27) accounts should be forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria even as no one has come to claim ownership of the accounts. But this has not happened till date. The hands of the courts have been tired down.

10. Three (3) accounts stand out. The affected banks were able to provide documents relating to the three (3) accounts;

1. Zenith Bank Plc.

Account Name: NNPC (REM ACC/PRIVATE)

Account No: 1012280444

Account Bal. N32 Billion Naira

Currency Type: Naira

2. First Bank Plc.

Account Name: NNPC/ NAOC IPP SECURITY

Account No: 2006367288

Account Bal. N147B Naira

Currency Type: Naira

3. First Bank Plc.

Account Name: NNPC/NAOC IPP SECURITY

Account No: 2005942905

Account Bal. $299,613. 72 USD

Currency Type: DOLLAR USD.

11. This is the interesting part; Zenith Bank Plc., suddenly woke up from sleep and said that the N32B in Account No. 1012280444 with Account Name NNPC (REM ACC/PRIVATE) has been swept into NNPC Remittance Account (Coastal PRD Sales) Account No. 1010654418 from where it was eventually transferred to CBN/TSA Account No. 3000004989 with the CBN on the 7th of January 2016. This is not true.

12. Recall that the CBN directives for all balances/receipts due to the Federal Government or its Agencies to be paid into the Treasury Single Account (TSA) ended on or before September 15, 2015. Zenith Bank Plc. has not been able to give explanation as to the reason Account Nos. 1012280444 and 1010654418 were still operational after September 15, 2015.

13. Another shocking revelation is that Account No. 1012280444 with Zenith Bank Plc. has five (5) BVNs as follows: 22173355534,22376914983, 22193440291, 22367697055, and 22235680190. Zenith Bank Plc. has not been able to supply statement of accounts for Account Nos 1012280444 and 1010654418from inception to date. They cannot provide photograph pictures of the five (5) BVN owners.

14. Zenith Bank Plc. stated that Account No. 1012280441 (another account being investigated with N32B lodgement) belongs to Mrs Okoro Comfort with cellular number 08130734041. However, Mrs Okoro Comfort, through her counsel denied any knowledge of the said account or any other account with Zenith Bank Plc. Mrs Okoro Comfort admitted that her cellular number is 08130734041 and her BVN is 222417%%%49 different from the BVN 2236767055 attached to the account number 1012280441.

15. BVN 2236767055 belongs to Mr Okam Eze Ezenna who receives transaction alerts from Account No. 1012280441 with two (2) cellular numbers 08139383487 and 08130734041which belongs to Mrs Okoro Comfort. Account Number 1012280441 with Zenith Bank Plc. has Thirty two million naira (N32m) with no identifiable owner coming to claim it.

16. The question in the mouth of every concerned person is, what is holding back the hand of justice to declare total forfeiture of all these stolen funds to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

17. It is expected that Muhammad T. Ismail and Ndarani (SAN) & Co (Solace Law Chambers) should have a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). At the beginning of the assignment, Ndarani (SAN) & Co (Solace Law Chambers) allotted a space to Muhammad T. Ismail and his team in his office to do the leg work and provide the needed information for Ndarani (SAN) & Co (Solace Law Chambers) to do the needful. Surprisingly, Ndarani (SAN) & Co (Solace Law Chambers) has not shown any interest in signing the MoU with his client, Muhammad T. Ismail.

18. On the 7th of September, 2021 Ndarani (SAN) & Co (Solace Law Chambers) wrote to the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister for Justice to provide Bank Account details to receive recovered funds to the tune of one hundred and seventy nine billion naira (N179B) and $299,613.72 USD from three (3) out of the twenty nine (29) accounts.

19. On the 8th of September, 2021 Ndarani (SAN) & Co (Solace Law Chambers) also wrote to the Central Bank of Nigeria, complaining against the uncooperative attitude and disobedience of court orders by First Bank Plc. and Zenith Bank Plc. Proof of service of the court orders was attached to the letters to the CBN.

20. It was after the request for bank details was sent to the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister for Justice and a complaint against First Bank Plc. and Zenith Bank Plc. was sent to CBN that trouble started. Some persons who are in position to drive the process for the recovery of the illicit funds became threatened and they had to act fast to stop the process.

21. In their response on the 27th of September 2021, CBN stated that they cannot act because they were not served any court order and that necessary steps should be taken to effect service on the CBN to enable them respond to the request. The Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister for Justice, although received the letter of request for account details to receive recovered funds, never responded and the request not met.

22. *In March 2022, Ndarani (SAN) & Co (Solace Law Chambers) invited Mohammad T. Ismail and told him that the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister for Justice had terminated the recovery exercise but he could not show any document or correspondence from the Attorney-G eneral of the Federation and Minister for Justice to that effect. To make matters worse, Mohammad T. Ismail and his team were stopped from accessing the office and prevented from retrieving details of information in the office*.

23. *On one hand, Ndarani (SAN) & Co (Solace Law Chambers) claimed that the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister for Justice had seized from pursuing the recovery of the trillions of naira for the Federal Government of Nigeria. However, he sent another SAN to represent him in court on the 7thof March 2022 in respect of the same matter that he told Muhammad T. Ismail that the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister for Justice had seized to pursue.*

24. Hon. Justice P. O. Lifu of FHC, Ikoyi Lagos presided on the 7th of March 2022 and adjourned to the 31st of March 2022 for ruling. Since then, it has been adjournment upon adjournment with the next adjournment scheduled for 6th of March 2023.

25. Ndarani (SAN) & Co (Solace Law Chambers) is now foot-dragging in pursuing the case as it should be. Mohammad T. Ismail is also not enjoying the cooperation of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister for Justice as it was in the beginning. The Judge only announces long adjournment to frustrate the case. The Banks too are acting above the law. CBN is not worried that trillions of naira which can service our national debt was being stolen.

26. Several correspondence had been sent to Ndarani (SAN) & Co (Solace Law Chambers) to release copies of all the correspondence relating to the recovery exercise but he hasn’t obliged. He has also refused to sign the MoU with his client, Muhammad T. Ismail who owns the recovery exercise and hired him to work for him. He is no longer showing seriousness in the recovery pursuit.

27. It can only be concluded that some persons are congregating to share over N70 trillion belonging to the Federal Government of Nigeria. We have a responsibility and a sacred duty to let the world know the truth and those who are sabotaging this nation and causing everyone to crawl while they ride on horseback.

As Federal lawmaker builds 4 stadia in Borno

By

It is unheard of, for a federal lawmaker to become an all-rounder in the execution of constituency projects in Nigeria. One has emerged in Borno state.

Muktar Betara Aliyu, a member of the House of Representatives has proved that, with the utmost love for his people and a selfless mien, a lawmaker can fill that gap where local, state and federal governments - for obvious reasons of too many competing areas, could just not jell.

He has already scored brilliantly in the area of provision of infrastructures like roads, hospitals, water supply as well as scoring more highly in humanitarian and human capacity building initiatives. It is on record that he has done much more than any single lawmaker, at whatever level, in the way he commits his entire constituency projects funds to the development of his constituency. This is aside his penchant to lobby for projects all around federal authorities where such provisions are available.

He represents Biu, Bayo, Shani and Kwaya Kusar federal constituency in Borno state and his people in all the nooks and crannies of the four local government areas have attested to the fact that no one, in the history of representation has done as much in all facets.

After executing many multi billion Naira projects to the satisfaction of his constituency, Muktar Betara Aliyu went a notch higher by building four mini stadia in four locations across the four local government areas.

The world class mini stadia, one each in Shani, Kwaya Kusar, Mirnga and Biu have already been delivered. Only the one in Biu, that is being rehabilitated, is at 80% completion stage currently. The other three, started from the scratch, have fully been completed and are ready to go.

Sports stadiums in the Biu area are important facilities that could become decisive in the overall development of the area. The entire landscape making up the constituency is known as Borno’s most educationally advanced. With the benefit of education, the youth in the areas require standard sports facilities to develop their mental capacity and test their sporting prowess. The idea is for those who could excel in sporting activities to make a career out of it even at international stage, by having access to standard training grounds and facilities.
