Most time is advisable for the Sponsor to be your relation but if the person can substantiate the relationship, it would be accepted..the fact is that Portugal is issuing visa now it is for one to explore or utilise this opportunity before they start tightening up their immigration policies.

Congrat . But the course you choose is it taught in English? What time did you apply ? And do they allow you to apply without legalized documents at the Portuguese embassy ? Cos I have authenticated but waiting to legalized at the embassy

VFS is different from Embassy. VFS is just an agent to filter applicants, coordinate and arrange applications to reduce crowd at embassies where they do not want to deal with applicants directly. VFS has no say on decision. they are errand boys to the embassies
