InventTech: Since this trend is breeding.. Let me drop a few.
- I have pals who studied Pol. Science, they both got a job through the graduate trainee scheme in Zenith Bank and Access banks. Both have progressed so much career wise, and by net worth they are multi-millionaires and established.
- I know a bunch of guys who studied architecture, administration, soil science, animal husbandry and some 'perceived low grade social science/art courses working in KPMG, PWC and EY. Oh yeah, and they have progressed so much, bagged professional courses and masters alike even in newer unrelated fields.
Emphatically, Upcoming graduates need to understand this simple rule.
There are actually jobs here in Nigeria and everywhere!!!
But the most significant characteristics every employer looks for are:
1. Aptitude 2. Capability 3.Competence
Anyone who has developed these 3 variables will definitely be gainfully employed when the opportunity comes knocking regardless of whatever course they studied.
Definitely some courses have more preferences than others but on a balanced scale employers are looking for candidates the 3 features above.
So what's the problem
1. How many graduates spread across all courses in Nigeria can easily ace GMAT, SHL, psychometric/ability tests and well structured oral interviews. Oh yeah, you would say people with majors in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) have advantage because of their backgrounds in numerics, but these questions are structured to check your problem solving, verbal, critical and visual intelligence.
2. How many graduates take time off school to attempt IQ Tests, job tests and practice before and after they graduate. So many graduates lack simple social and communication skills, many lack basic computing knowledge and can't use basic MS Office applications - there are actually people who can't open a word document and type.
3. We can easily say that many graduates in Nigeria are seriously unprepared not actually 'unqualified' to get jobs. Get to social media like Facebook groups and your eyes would hurt so much from grammatical blunders written by 'graduates'. It's not the school's or course they studied but an 'individual problem'
Anyone who "genuinely" made at least 2.1/Upper credit from any top tertiary institution in Nigeria actually has special skills and unique capabilities they may not even know about.
School is not Scam, and there are JOBS!!!
There are just a handful persons who have paced themselves up with the relevant skills and knowledge to grab them! I grab it |

Well it happened sometime in April where he promised to trade on Binomo because I have a little Trading experience and I lost alot on it. This guy promised to trade Binomo for me. He told me to send 10k as capital which I sent.
Though you may feel it's small but I am student hustling and what pains me was that it was during the lockdown and no means of survival that was my last 10k in my account for feeding. Chai I fasted, And I am from the West, I school in the North with no relative. Called the guy tire he barred my number. This might save someone else from being scammed.
Thanks |
