Social media giant, Facebook, has blacklisted proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu’s page after he incited violence in the Southeast region of Nigeria.

Kanu who is notorious for sharing fake videos and for spurring the Eastern Security Network (ESN) to wreak havoc on Nigerians had his page removed after a live broadcast on February 2, 2021.

During Kanu's broadcast, he warned that ESN would chase all Fulani herdsmen out of Biafraland in 11 days due to their alleged acts of terrorism.

Reacting to his blacklisting, his secretary, Carolyn Uchenna Okorafor, wrote: "MNK's Facebook page is down! Now you know we are doing something right! When the enemy knows your working...they will try to stop you! But as always #WOVE".

It will be recalled that in a doctored video circulated online, some members of ESN claimed they had sent herdsmen packing from an Ebonyi community.

Kanu had previously released footage and photos showing armed ESN members undergoing military drills in a clearing surrounded by forest.

But since the onset of repeated clashes that erupted between the Nigerian army and the ESN on January 22, 2021 in Orlu, which left at least one person dead, pro-Biafran social media accounts have spread false claims about the violence online.

Orlu, located in Imo state, has been a hotbed for separatist groups, and tensions between Nigerian security forces and the indigenous Igbo population have been high.

In October 2020, Kanu directed IPOB members to destroy the properties of Lagos State Government during the #EndSARS protest. This directive led to massive destruction of state owned properties worth over N1 trillion.
