The lesson here is; soldiers need to spend a lot of time learning how to shoot with a rifle they'll never use in combat

from kenyas experience in somalia, soldiers have had to grab any weapon available even off enemies during suicide human wave attacks,
they also dont produce their own rifles only ammo and if theres a supplychain issue or disruption for any type of weapon its easier to switch rifles because soldiers are trained.

This is a old pic of election protests back in 2017, but the kenyan police are pretty rough nonetheless

Things are back to normal in kenya, ruto was just being reminded that the people are the supreme authority and he doesn't own the country he leads it , yesterday's protests were largely muted after he conceded , not as many people came out as the previous day's
,it was mostly the usual rowdy opposition members not as organic as the previous day's where even his own supporters came out to protest.
Unfortunately for him his perceived popularity has taken a hit, The kids in the young generation have tasted blood and will come out again if he does anything unpopular.
