According to TNS sources, Funke Akindele removed Toyo Baby from Jenifa's Diary over what the latter termed ‘bad pay’. The source revealed that Toyo Baby was cut off from the TV series for requesting an increment in pay which didn’t go well with Funke Akindele who feels she’s an ingrate being that she rose to stardom through her appearance on the widely-watched show. Sources close to producers of Jenifa’s Diary disclosed that Funke via her production manager and younger sister [Abimbola] pays actors between N3,000 and N150,000 (per episode/season of the show) depending on the role. An actress who spoke to TNS under the condition of anonymity via text message narrated how she was paid what she termed ‘peanuts’ by Funke's team after being part of an all-night party scene on Jenifa’s Diary. Her words: "I got a text message from Sceneone Productions that I had been selected to act on Jenifa’s Diary and I will be part of a party scene. I was so excited that I told my entire family about it. Mind you, it wasn’t my 1st time acting but d feeling of being on Jenifa’s diary was a big deal for me. I was asked to come with 5 different party costumes. Location was Amen Estate, Eleko. After filming with over 30 girls the whole night, Funke came to address us and advice that money shouldn’t be our priorities at this stage; that was when it occurred to me that something awkward was about to happen….just then, the Production Manager, Mr Osmond whispered something to Funke’s sister, Abimbola & she started paying us each 3K. Can u imagine?, 3K for all night shoot!…on Jenifa’S dIARY!… I was so mad, some of us had to turn down the money shaa….couldn’t face my mom to explain to her wat happened the next morning." A civil society group, Change the Change Coalition, on Thursday vowed to stage mass protests if President Muhammadu Buhari failed to attend the next Federal Executive Council meeting. Buhari who has hardly been seen in public in recent weeks, was absent at the last 2 FEC meetings, which were chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. Reacting to the development, the group warned that it would mobilize Nigerians to compel Buhari to officially transmit power to Osinbajo, if he, once again, excuses himself from the next FEC meeting. Instead of staying away from work, Buhari should officially transmit power to Osinbajo, so as to be free to travel abroad for more medical attention, the group said. National Coordinator of CCC, Mazi Bismarck Oji, spoke at a news conference in Enugu. Oji likened the current intrigues surrounding Buhari’s health to the situation that prevailed in the Presidential Villa during the time of the late former president, Umaru Yar’Adua. He said, “What we have before us is another Yar’Adua scenario – the President has been absent from at least two FEC meetings consecutively. “Firstly, the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, told us the President was attending to more important matters and delegated the Vice President to chair the meeting. “What could be more important than chairing weekly FEC meeting, more so when his attendance would have allayed fears about his health status? “Secondly, Lai Mohammed told us the President would be working from home. “That is an insult on the intelligence of Nigerians and another episode in the theatre of the bizarre which this administration has turned governance into." Trouble allegedly started when the Air Force officer was trying to enforce the 7:00pm close time agreed by stakeholders. The NAF officers did not wait for 7:00pm, but decided to chase out workers, including agents and NDLEA officials out of the area, a situation which the NDLEA official resisted. The narcotic officer reminded the NAF officer that as a government security agency personnel, he should not harass him the way clearing agents are harassed. A source told The Nation that the resistance further infuriated the NAF officer, who questioned the audacity of the NDLEA officer to challenge him. The source added that it was at that point, the NAF officer slapped the NDLEA officer. In no time NDLEA officer in turn retaliated, occasioning exchange of punches, where the narcotic officer had the upper hand. Another witness noted that as the government personnel were exchanging punches, another NAF officer joined in the fray to stab the narcotic officer. The NDLEA officer, the source said fell, bleeding profusely while others engaged in a free for all. The source explained that as bystanders started shouting that the NDLEA officer might die if not given medical attention, he was consequently taken to hospital. Contacted, the spokesman for NDLEA, Mr Mitchell Ofoyeju confirmed the incident, but claimed that it was a minor disagreement. He also added that the issue has been resolved. sources - http://www.azeezblog.com.ng/2017/04/air-force-personnel-stabs-ndlea.html?m=1

Women from Isu community in Onicha area of Ebonyi State on Wednesday stormed Abakaliki to protest the activities of Fulani herdsmen in the area and the r*pe of a 70-year-old widow. The women carried placards with different inscriptions such as ‘Fulanis have destroyed all our crops and polluted our rivers and ponds’, ‘Fulanis have humiliated us’, among others. A student was on Tuesday shot by fleeing cultists at an area designated as ‘love garden’ inside the University of Calabar, hostel area. The shooting came on the heels of heightened clash between KKK and Vikings that has claimed the lives of at least 13 persons following the assassination of a lecturer in Department of Accounting, University of Calabar, Dr. Emmanuel Igbeng. The state Commissioner of Police, Hafiz Inuwa, disclosed that the unidentified student that was shot was rescued and rushed to a hospital, adding that the victim was responding to treatment. “At UNICAL hostel, some students were shooting; they shot somebody, but the person did not die. Some of the cultists were arrested and recoveries were made in the process,” he said. The Public Relations Officer of UNICAL, Eyo Effiong, in a statement, said two out of the fleeing cultists were apprehended by the institution’s security team. Effiong gave the names of the apprehended students as David Charles Job and Godwin Okpomo. He said, “It should be noted that for the past few days, incidents of violence leading to loss of lives have been reported in Calabar. This, we gather, stemmed from the resurgence of cult rivalry among alleged cult groups in the city. “Acting on the strength of a reliable intelligence tip-off that some of the cultists, in a bid to escape from their ‘perceived enemies’ had sneaked into the campus, the Chief Security Officer and his team went on a ‘stop and search’ mission round the campus. “In the process of executing their mission, they met six young men seated together around the Hostel Area designated ‘Love Garden’ meant for recreation.” sources- http://www.azeezblog.com.ng/2017/03/armed-cultists-shoot-student-in-unical.html?m=1
