CrimeRe: Man Cries Out After The Foreign Currency He Changed In Ikeja 'Disappeared' by bambash(m): 12:21pm On Aug 09, 2018
First of all, the guys that conduct the disappearing act with people's money are not the mallams. They are mostly from other ethnic groups with the Yoruba's being predominant.
Secondly, there is no juju involved the boys are just fast with their fingers.

This the trick. They count the agreed amount less a couple of notes and hand it over to you to verify. When you tell them its short they ask to recount and then you hand it back over to them. At this point, they count again, confirm you were right, and make a show of adding the missing notes while they quickly remove more from the wad of notes. Now, ordinarily they expect that you will no longer count, in fact, they will try to make sure you don't count by telling you all sort of stories like their chairman is coming or the police are coming just so that you will zoom off.

So my advice, stay away from them altogether and deal with the mallams at Alade market area or if you have the liver and want to beat them at their game, hold on to your foreign currency and count the money each time they hand it back to you until you are sure.

Cheers

Hi Justwise, Ekpotek and all other gurus in the house,

I am about to apply for a 6 months visa again for my wife and this time will lay everything on the table.

But can I go ahead and choose tourism under the visa category despite the fact that they are already aware that its our kids she wants to visit?

Regards
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by bambash(m): 7:03pm On Jan 10, 2018
justwise:
Yes if you have genuine reason for applying for two years visa you can do that but personally i will go for 6months if this is her first application else go for 2yrs.

If they can get a letter from the MP quicker it will be an added advantage.
Many thanks for the advice.

According this document see section 7

https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/636618/Appendix_FM_1_7_Financial_Requirement_Final.pdf

The cash saving y requirement is
(X-£1600) /2.5 = y
So to meet the £18,600 (y) financial income amount by cash saving only you would need a cash saving (x) of minimum of £62500.

That is
(£62500 - £16000) /2.5 = £18600

So when home office say above £16000. It is actually deceptive and does not mean that you have met the financial requirement if you have a cash saving of £16100, unless you are combining cash saving with other sources of income. I stand to be corrected.
No wonder people are cutting corners any how to remain in the country. That's a huge some of money. And I believe the income must be earned there in the UK right?

The list you submitted is good I guess you did not add additional document explaining your wife's situation properly.

Her chances of getting a visa is high if you reapplied and explain things better. Your wife will not leave a young kid back in Nigeria to run off to live in the UK. She is a homemaker and not expected to have a lot of money running in her account.

Take your time and explain things in a separate paper in support of her application.
Good morning Justwise,

I might as well give it another try before I write to the MP as Ekpotek suggested. For your information the last child is also British, and it is stated that they will be travelling together to visit. I hope they wont believe she wants to take him to stay too?
Also, what do you think about her applying for 2 yrs and not 6 months? I read somewhere that if you have a genuine reason for entering the UK often that you can do so. What can be more genuine than what we have at hand? Your thoughts please.

Thanks

ekpotek:
All you need is a UK based home address and phone number for correspondence. You can use your folks UK address. You can send the letter via email or post. So, just identify your MP representing your constituency. Focus your letter on rights of your wife to family life and that she was been unfairly deprived of visitng her kids for no reason. You can also enclose a copy of the redusal letter. Writing from experience, my wife had to use her MP to intervene, when home office was delaying the issuance of her British passport, eventhough she lives with me in Nigeria.
Many thanks once again. If this is the way forward then I will start looking in to it pronto.

Cheers mate you have been really helpful.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by bambash(m): 5:47pm On Jan 09, 2018
ekpotek:
Garantor or no garantor, nobody can revoke your British nationality if it is by birth. You may consider writing your MP to complain and intervene. Your MP will in turn write the home office to make a case for your wife. If successful, the refusal will be revoked. I do not know of any other legal ways. Trying to falsify stuffs will only led to a 10 years ban, so dont try it.
Thanks Ekpotek, but I really wasn't considering the falsification of stuff, that would be foolhardy. It is something I have always rejected when advised to do so because I believe she can get the visa without going through all that. I just hope I wont be proven wrong.

Thanks for your advice but does some one like me that isn't living over there have an MP or can my sibling write his MP?
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by bambash(m): 3:56pm On Jan 09, 2018
ekpotek:
Home office have one goal: To reduce net immigration into the UK. You could relocate to the UK but you will need to apply for a spouse visa for your wife and meet the financial income requirement of £18,600 per annum or £62,000 cash in savings. This stuffs are not easy for spouse living and working outside the UK. Unless your wife circumstances changes she will always be refused. That is the home office rule irrespective of your nationality.
Ok cool...I understand all that. But isn't there a way to convince them that she wont be staying until we are good and ready. Can't I get a guarantor or something. Or have an agreement of some sort that will lead to me having my British Nationality revoked if we default. I really dnt want to bring the kids back after settling down over there and they miss each other so much.
Do I need to go the way of some others by falsifying stuff in order to get her a visa?
There has to be another way guys.... sad
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by bambash(m): 1:26pm On Jan 09, 2018
ekpotek:
Your documents are okay. Except missing are documents to proof strong home ties and the circumstances of the applicant (your wife). This was pointed out by ECO, who also refered to the previous refusal. To be honest with you as it stands, it will be very difficult for your wife to get a visitor visa given her circumstances and not your in Nigeria. The ECO know that there is strong possiblity for your wife to over stay and not return back to Nigeria since she does not have a job or any compelling reason to leave the UK after her visit. I also know of cases where mothers have successful apply to remain in the UK as the mother of British child (children) needing care. Just my thoughts.
Thanks Ekpotek,
But I work here and our last kid is also here with us. The kids school documents were attached to prove all that.
Doesn't the fact that I have a British passport and could decide to move over there with every one else any time mean anything to them? Why would we complicate things and spoil the chances of doing everything legally? This is just the point I would like them to understand. How does one go about doing it?

Good day house and happy new year to every one.

Well my wife's application was refused and she has no right to appeal nor request for an administrative review. It is also stated that her circumstances must change or she will be refused if we reapply. My question is how do they expect it to change? She stopped working years ago and has been a home maker ever since with some small small side business. Is she now expected to go get a job even though I can sponsor her?
The kids British Passports(copies) and documents from their school were sent forward for their perusal yet they say she did'nt state what the kids are doing there.
Our gurus, please take a look at the refusal letter and advise abeg!!

It doesn't matter if she is a house wife or not the answer is yes because they are her kids.

If you are not traveling with them then yes you have to write a letter of consent.
Many thanks for your help.

You can submit copies they will scan that into their system and return hard copy to you, You also need your kids school documents, eg..their admission letter, copy of their school ID and recent progress report/result.
Ok cool, I will ask for those to be sent over. Thanks.

So how about the part in the form that asks if my wife has dependent children. Does she say yes or no? Remember she is a house wife.

Do I need to write a letter of consent in respect of the kid she will be traveling with and a letter indicating that I am sponsoring?
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by bambash(m):

1. Are your kids studying in the UK? If yes..who pays their fees and maintenance?

2. Flight reservation is not relevant

3. Yes you need to submit letter of appointment and payslips, you also need to submit family pictures and birth certificate of your kids
The kids are both in a public school. What I do from here is to augment their benefits.

The kids birth certificates are over there in the UK will they accept copies at the VAC?

Good evening to all in the house,

To the gurus please assist me with some info. My wife's application form is being filled and we hope to submit it on Monday, now there is this part about dependent children that is giving me concern. We have 3 kids but my wife is a house wife and 2 of the kids are in the UK at the moment. My question is should we fill in the kids names as dependents?

Secondly how relevant is the submission of flight reservations along with other documents?

Thirdly, as the husband and sponsor what documents should be submitted besides my bank statement, should I include my letter of appointment, pay slips and stuff?

I await your kind responses.

Thanks
Our dear Guru's please respond.

Ok, he can send an IV to support her application and evidence of accommodation available for her.
Thanks once again.

I forgot to mention that she is a full time house wife and I will be sponsoring.

I also do not have any savings tucked away but can sponsor the trip with my earnings. There will be no need for house upkeep when she is away and I have no one depending on me. Will this fly?

She needs to apply for visiting visa and she needs to get her kids schools papers to attach to her application.

Its a standard visiting visa application which also include family visiting.

Are the kids living on their own or with relatives?
Good morning @ Justwise and thanks for responding. The kids are with my younger brother.

Good afternoon House,

Its a great thing going on here and I pray I will be able to benefit from the wealth of experience that is being show cased.

I hold a British Passport but I reside and work here in Naija. I have a wife and 3 kids. The kids of course are also British citizens but wifey isnt.

2 of the kids are presently schooling in the UK while living with my brother (this is known to the UK Govt).

Now my question is this, whats the best way to apply for a visa for my wife so she can go visiting with our last born as often as possible.

She applied for a visa some time back but was refused on the grounds of insufficient information about what she was going to do and her finances. At that time the kids were all here in naija though. I would like to avoid a situation where by the British Authorities will think she will arrive and stay put because she has kids that are citizens. That is the last thing on our mind because we intend to get wifey a resettlement visa when I relocate.
I cant wait to read all the advice that will be thrown at me. Many thanks
@Justwise, @Bright,@Ekpotek, @every one....please advise.
