@kunle,, I would take it that you didnt read the first part of my contribution,.,. I clearly stated that the seller is NOT under obligation to refund a dime, I also said that if a buyer contacts a seller reasonably, then the seller could use his/her discretion.I have used this as a case study checking all the facts.Firstly it is a recent transaction ,secondly, the seller is willing to do something,,(read the sellers words) ,,I now came to a conclusion that 30 percent refund is empathically reasonable, In this instance a toks engine should not cost anything more than 300k, of that car. That being said, a refund in the region of 100k still shows a reasonable seller even if that does not cover it.
Other sellers would not even bother.
Please also note this is just my opinion.It solely depends on the seller and we should not crucify her for whatever decision she takes.

@datnigga,, I would definitely give kudos to you that you stood your ground as being factual at how you felt. You gave a fair chance for the seller to contact you which I see turned sour.I must also say that the seller in my own silly opinion may/MAY NOT have intentionally sold you a bad car. rovers are known for the problems they give.I sold one rover 75 2 yrs ago and the buyer still thanks me for the deal and connects other buyers to meNo problems at all on the ride.I have sold over 6 cars through him alone this year. Funnily, I sold same car four months ago and the buyer said after 2 months it was over heating and the engine needs changing after he had changed head gasket and the funny mechanics couldnt solve the issue,.he contacted me reasonably and I wasnt under any obligation to refund a dime,, BUT I was very considerate and because the Engine sold for about 300k,, I requested 100k from him and I got him a 40k mileage engine, he is one of my main contacts now!
I noticed you said the mechanics could not get the engine and demanding 600k, well I should be able to get you one removed from a RHD of same model for far far less.
I hope deebeeg for the sake of empathy share a bit of you loss as per I see the transaction took place just recently.

@debeeg,, you have acted right by calming down and please be humane as you have been and try cover atleast 30 percent of loss incured.

@zenith2k9,, the Idea of fuel consumption sometimes depends even on how you drive your car,, Drive a v6 reasonably you could use less fuel than if you drive a 4 cyl,,Trust me I sold 2 no. camry in less than 48 hrs,, the third one is also a v6 and the people like it,, the a/c is as cold as ice,the pulling is great!
if you are fascinated by v6 , you would someday wanna try the v8,,which I drive or ride in the merc or bmw v12's,

The 6 cyl is better my friend,, I drive the xj8 jaguar,, Now if you drive a v8 you would never want to ride in a 4 cyl or 2.2l toyota!you could easily do 0-60 miles in less than 4 seconds!

@benniewank,, I can get you a manual 1998 4 cyl Right hand drive from the u.k for 700k final price, lagos cleared, conversion is only 180-200k which would be perfectly done by my engineer in lagos.
because of the cost price bargain , deposit required is usually 70 percent and 30 percent uopn completion, if to your door step in Abuja its 750k.
My brother resides in Abuja so you need not worry as you have a clean deal.You can go to his house and ascertain its gonna be a clean deal, Sold several cars here and my strategy remains 100 percent straight forwardness.you could check my other posts on here.

I see bigdot as atleast a potential buyer than others,, atleast he is making first move to go see the car.
