Defend am? You make me laugh really. How will I defend a player that has been under performing right from the pre season games. My point is this; our defence has been nothing to write home about from the pre season. Even the pairing of Alves-Pique-Masch-Matheus chop four goals against Sevilla.they all need to wake up if we must get something meaningful out of the new season.

But that pairing (bar matthieu) is still our best pairing. You can see that Matthieu alone caused 2 of the 4 goals we conceded against sevilla. We were fairly comfortable at 4-1 before Matthieu began his madness. Bartra on the other hand has always been like this; once the opposition's attack is strong, we're very likely to concede more than 2 goals if Bartra plays. It's worrisome

We are losing this match. I thought I'd be safer to feature everybody now, get a favorable result before resting players for the second leg. I've never been to any football management course in Switzerland but that makes more sense to me.

and how is Pedro "a finished product" ? So because he played less games last season it automatically means that he's finished? Actually the reason SAF wouldn't go for him is cos he would prefer to spend £15m on a certain Zaha dan get a good player ,this was one of the reasons he won only 2 UCL titles. He goes for up and coming talents instead of already made players ,the times that he went for quality players( RVP ,Ferdinand ,etc) they delivered.

Pedro is wash; infact has been since Pep's last season at barca. If you watch barca's games, you'd understand better. He's a shadow of his '09 self. The UCL isn't that easy to win, if not the SAFs and JMs of this world will have more than 2, even Wenger would have 1 if it were easy. There's a reason why no team has successfully defended it in it's new format

He doesn't go for finished products. When he was still in charge, man utd's aim was to win every possible trophy and players like the Pedro of today won't cut it for him

This was a final; that's the difference. There's no redemption or 2nd leg if you lose. It's win or bust

A. Iniesta sure has a replacement and that is Rafinha A and A Turan(when he comes in officially). IMO, by the withdrawal of Iniesta, he should have brought on Adriano C., to fill up at LB then push J. Mascherano to the midfield and J. Mathieu takes his place. Or, he brings on M. Batra in at the back for J. Mascherano to move to the MF.

On either of the subs above, he should have looked (emphasis) to shore up the midfield and not weaken it. As you'd see much later at 4-2, Rafinha played deep, but then Lucho had no response in tactics to the double subs that U. Emery made which eventually tied the game. It is in moments like that, you know a great coach.

In the end, I'm very proud of the result as it goes a long way to show the superiority of La Liga over the rest of Europe. Sevilla played a great game!

If we start abusing Lucho again now, the likes of JohnPaul88 will start defending him. His substitution timing against this same sevilla cost us 3 points last season. This is a final with a trophy at stake for crying out loud and you choose to remove your best midfielder at a time like that just because we were 3 goals up. Granted Iniesta had a knock, what's wrong with putting a striker like Pedro to make sure their defenders were still kept at bay and draft Rafinha to the middle (cos S. Roberto was pure wack in that game). Remove Matthieu who was clearly rattled and bring in a Adriano who is a more natural LB than Matthieu

He probably needs another round of criticism going into the season as that was what made him sit up and behave last season
