That was how one employer hired me as an Accountant in his medium scale telecoms firm and offered to pay just #30k. l negotiated with him to make it #40k because of my transport and the work time which was also 8am to 7pm and he refused after 3 meetings with him.


On the last one, l told him l won't do the job after l had worked for one week while we still negotiated. Since he refused to add a meagre #10k, l told it to his face that l won't continue working with him. He preached on how he wanted me to stay and liked the way l had adapted to their system in just one week but l told him l was done and he offered to pay for the one week l had worked by the end of the month and bid me goodbye.

I moved from the city to another and secured a job in a firm that pays almost three times higher than what he offered but to my shock, the man called me after almost two months and told me to come back.


I told him l would only come back if he could pay me #90k plus #5k transport allowance. He hung up. Knowing your worth and not settling for less could pay off but at the same time, know when to say no because you might be in dire need of the peanut as at that time.
