A 42-year-old man, Taofeek Oyeyemi, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for impregnating his 16-year-old biological daughter, and attempting to abort the pregnancy through a quack doctor.

The police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, made this known on Thursday in a statement.

The suspect was arrested following a complaint from the mother of the victim who reported at Ewekoro Police station that her daughter was impregnated by her father who also took her to a quack medical practitioner for abortion.

The police said the complainant further explained that since the abortion was carried out, the victim has been bleeding. He said this led to the arrest of the suspect.

“The suspect who was said to have seventeen children from different women on interrogation confessed to have slept with the victim several times which resulted in her pregnancy. In order for his secret not to be exposed, he decided to take the girl for abortion.”

Mr Oyeyemi said preliminary investigation revealed that the victim’s mother separated from the suspect years back and the victim had been living with her, until about six months ago when the suspect forcefully took the girl away from her mother.

“All efforts made by the mother to take custody of her daughter proved abortive. It was when the mother came to visit her daughter that she discovered the great atrocity committed by the suspect against her daughter,” the statement stated.

The suspect is being investigated and would be prosecuted, the police said.

Ailing veteran actor, Kayode Odumosu, better known as Pa Kasumu, has said that his sickness is of a spiritual nature and not medical as many have presumed.

The popular Yoruba actor whose health status became worrisome after a video showed his frail state, told Saturday Beats that all he needs are fervent prayers and not financial aid from well-wishers and well-meaning Nigerians.

Pa Kasumu said, “For now, I don’t need any help. All I need is prayer. All I can say about my sickness is that it is spiritual. That’s why I said it requires prayer. I’m currently at a church camp for its annual congress. God should take care of me. I will stay at the camp till the congress ends.”

The actor, who has been absent from the movie scene since he fell ill 10 years ago, revealed that it was the first time he would seek spiritual help. He also dismissed reports that he is now totally blind. He said, “RCCG is the first place I’ve gone for prayers. But, they have also been praying for me in my church in Sabo, Yaba, Lagos. I came from Abeokuta to the camp today (Wednesday).

“The doctors are just saying their own. They said I had a partial stroke. It affected my left side and to some extent, my sight.

“My wife and children have been taking care of me. The sickness started a long time ago. But I had the partial stroke nine years ago.”

Reacting to reports that his smoking habits contributed to his sickness, Kasumu said people were just ‘talking rubbish’.

A son of the actor, Bode Odumosu, also spoke on his father’ health status. He reiterated that his father needs prayers, not financial aid.

“I am his second son and we (his children) have been taking care of him. We didn’t reach out to anyone. People only became alarmed about Pa Kasumu’s condition after a video of him at Foluke Daramola’s event went viral,” he said.

In 2017, it had been reported that Pa Kasumu’s health worsened after he got back from a medical trip to India.

Although he was required to return to India two months after the initial trip, the sudden loss of his passport had prevented him from doing so.

In recent times, sad reports of veteran actors suffering from life-threatening sickness have been the order of the day.

On November 9, 2019, Annet Nakabonye, 28, a business lady introduced Isaac Jacob Luwo, 30, a brand manager at Uber to her friends and family in a kwanjula ceremony. Luwo and Nakabonye first met in July 2012 in a taxi. Apparently, Luwo had forgotten his wallet at home and the conductor kept harassing him thinking he intended not to pay for his fares. He went to Nakabonye’s pastor for approval however, the pastor’s reply was no different, “He advised us to pray about it and ask God to show us the right path.” Time went by without any progress until October 2016 when Nakabonye threw Luwo a surprise birthday party. The two shared a special moment and that day, she accepted to be his girlfriend. The good news, however, came with some conditions, “Although she had accepted to be in a relationship with me, she suggested that we couldn’t get married until she was done with school, a condition I welcomed and agreed to.” Towards the end of 2017, the two decided to meet each other’s parents and let them know about their intention to wed.
