A 21-year-old girl identified as Kemi, at the weekend, committed suicide in Isale Asa Ilorin, Kwara State.
According to National Telegraph, the deceased, who was a fashion designer, allegedly took her own life with a locally-made rat poison known as sole lasan following uncomplimentary comments from her mother during a brawl.

A neighbour, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the girl and her mum had a quarrel on Friday night and in the course of the brawl, Mummy Kemi, as her mom is popularly called, referred to her daughter as “a complete failure and a disgrace to the family”.

With all eyes on Google Glass and the recent launch of the new Nexus 7 causing something of a stir, it’s easy to forget that the Mountain View company is also on a journey – albeit a very long one – to launch its self-driving car.

The project returned to the headlines over the weekend when former Wall Street Journal reporter Amir Efrati said in an article that Google is “quietly” going about the development of a “full-fledged self-driving car”.

Up to now, Google has been modifying existing vehicles to test its driverless technology while at the same time conducting talks with major car manufacturers with a view to providing self-driving software for their vehicles, so the latest news that it’s considering going it alone may come as a surprise to some following the story.

20 years old Owoye Ebiwe, 20, from Ondo state, was one of ten suspected pipeline vandals apprehended by the Special Task Force on Anti-Pipeline vandalism.
They were caught red-handed vandalizing a pipeline belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, located in Elekete area of Ogun state.

While all the suspects freely opened up confessing their alleged involvement in the crime, Ebiwe was unusually calm. While that lasted, he bent down, scribbling what did not make sense on the wet ground. When approached, he raised his head and behold, he was shedding tears.

The Prison Break star declined an invitation to a Russian film festival after the country passed a series of anti-gay laws.

I have nothing much to say other than to bless God for everything. I thank God for all that happened; I thank God for my boss, his support and love. He is a good boss and I appreciate him. As far as I am concerned all things work well for those who love God and in all things, the Bible says we should praise God. The people that thought they were going to ruin me did not know that they would end up in announcing my destiny.
In the history of humanity, there had never been any human being that had instant fame like I did especially in a case that was meant to end negatively.
My brother-in-law in London is even so excited about the incident that he promised to assist me make big money out of this supposed mess. He had already handed the matter to an agency over there to trade mark “Oga at the Top.” But I just asked him to forget it.
There is no need for that.
Many of my class mates are in top positions in Nigeria currently, yet, they said I did not go to school. I can mention a lot of them here, including the Attorney General in Lagos State, Ipaye.
But why should I do all that. All the same, I give all the praises to God.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities will sustain its ongoing strike until the Federal Government gets the money to meet its demands, an ex-officio member has said.

Ayoola Soola, 35, has asked the Alagbado Grade A Customary Court to dissolve her marriage. The unemployed mother of four complained that her husband, Seun Soola, is a contractor and travels a lot, but does not bother about the upkeep of the children.

She told the court that they got married in 2001. She stated further that whenever she asks him for money for the family’s needs, he would say that he has not been paid. Website bosses claim the teenager who killed herself after being bullied online sent most of the vile abuse to herself.

Hannah Smith, 14, hanged herself in her bedroom ten days ago after being targeted by trolls on Ask.fm.

But the social networking site insists that she set up most of the anonymous identities used to bombard her own page, it has been reported.

A source at the firm based in Riga, Latvia, said: ‘With the Hannah case, the company have looked at every identity – the [computer] IP addresses are trackable. She posted the anonymous things herself.’
Last night Hannah’s father David, 45, reacted with anger to the allegation.

‘Hannah was a 14-year-old girl who was being bullied and she took her own life,’ he said. ‘Ask.fm is trying to cover its own back by discrediting Hannah. It’s disgusting.’
