The secret to creating wealth from retailing is Understanding VARs (Value added reselling). Africans middle class is growing at an alarming rate—investor and philanthropist George Soros described Africa as “one of the new bright spots on the gloomy global economic horizon’. Analysts say the rate of return on foreign investment in Africa is higher than in any other developing region. Over the last decade, six of the world’s 10 fastest-growing countries were in African. In eight of the last 10 years, Africa’s lion states have grown faster than the Asian tigers. As a result, Africa now has the fastest-growing middle class in the world. Some 313 million people, 34% of Africa’s population, they spend USD 2.20 a day, a 100% rise over the last 20 years, according to the African Development Bank. Why does this matter? The thing is this, Africans middle class wants to make their lives better, they want the taste of what it feels enjoy being “rich” to live rich. But unlike the middle class in the western countries that have a better purchasing power, Africans middle-class won’t afford most of the premium brands apart from fairly used goods. Well, a known example is an iPhone, most iPhones and apple products that are bought by African middle class are from the fairly used market. Herein, is the big deal, Transsion saw this and tapped into it and went into the production of Affordable smartphones for these fast-growing class of consumers, some of their products: Tecno, Itel and Infix and they won real big with it. Even Polystar has joined the trend. So far they had grabbed reasonable market share from LG and Samsung. The good part of the story is that “You” can also join this growing trend. You need not set up a manufacturing hub to own a brand of electronics products or smartphone band with a minimum viable quality and value-added features that appeal to African middle class. Yes, you read right. If you would like to know how read this: https:///2OQ7pmz |

I was at Trade fair last month to meet an importer, whom I have been persuading to buy into our services. During our conversation, one youthful, handsome-looking guy walked in the office. The dude smells nice, forthwith I developed a concern to connect with the guy. The first reason was because of the cologne, I admire Tom Ford Oud oil fragrance. I had never missed a chance to compliment anyone that I run into wearing this fragrance. And, the second reason is to sell the company’s services: freight forwarding and product sourcing and other services. It didn’t take me time to disengage the importer who has been wasting my precious time for months. I don’t need a soothsayer to tell me I need to focus on this new guy, whom I thought was an importer too. Though it turned out the guy was not an importer yet! He intends to be, and that was the reason he came to see the man. So he will introduce him to his Chinese buying agents and companies. But the man being true to his nature has been playing games on him. I will say it was divine that we ran into each other, ever since then we had become friends and I got a new client. The young man placed an order for his first private label production, that sum to 20 fleet container. It was a win-win for both of us, the experience got me thinking, that many young entrepreneurs’ may likely be facing this challenge. So I have to put together this piece, which I felt can benefit many young entrepreneurs. Having products made to order can be more profitable than straight wholesale most mini importers in Nigeria subscribe to, plus it lets you develop unique products per your specifications. Many e-commerce sellers use contract manufacturers to produce custom runs of made-to-order goods or to make customized versions of standard items. Custom runs generally have larger order requirements than wholesale goods. However, the per-unit cost is lower so there’s far more profit potential. Like private label products, if you already have a good relationship with a wholesale vendor, you can inquire about custom options on standard goods or made-to-order products. Many wholesale producers offer custom and made-to-order services along with their stock goods. continue reading here: https:///2kx91Vu Meanwhile little about us: at TailoredTrack, we believe that finding the right product is the most important part of the job and we are always happy to go off in search of what you need, get it, ship and process the custom freight forwarding clearing services at a reasonable price and speed. While building Dresnice one of the challenges we encountered was there were no pre-defined rules and framework, on how to launch and build a high-growth startup. We were juggling multiple ideas trying many things as the spirit leads (intuition) hoping to be lucky. We weren’t opportune to pass through any startup acceleration at least that would have lessened the burden. We would have had someone to teach us the nitty-gritty of lean startup methodology. When we launched the methodology was pretty the buzz word amongst the tech entrepreneurs, it sounds pretty cool. Well, within a space of months, the excitement vanished then the whole thing turned debt den and frustrating. The experience was horrible, such that I don't wish to an enemy if there’s one. Perhaps to help I had put together a manifesto that you can use as a guide to launch an innovation-driven enterprise. continue reading here: https://tailoredtrack.home.blog/2019/08/27/timeline-on-how-to-launch-and-build-a-high-growth-startup/ |

The wedding suit doctor: Tips on how to buy the right wedding suit on a budget Whether you are fashion-forward, a perfect gentleman that understands grooming and know the definite specifications you crave for your suit down to the last button and you have a merchant in the mind that you contemplate buying your wedding suit, or you are once like me; I dislike wearing a suit until I found my men’s fashion brand. Perhaps I knew little about suit then. Whatever category you fall within, a regular guy or fashion-forward, take time and make the right decision where to buy the perfect fitting suit that will grant you a lasting memory. Because the groom suit can mar and spoil the wedding experience. I had met many unhappy customers because they make poor choices, especially those who want to cut the cost that ends up paying huge with regrets. While what this article seeks to prevent is to give you sound tips on what to consider and how to go about choosing the right wedding suit. The choices can seem overwhelming for sure. No matter your budget, your personal style, or your timeline, if you read all our “wedding suit doctor series” buying the wedding of your dreams — the one you’ll love today, on the big day, and in 30 years from now when you look back at your wedding photos, won’t be an arduous task for you. To get this done, here are my prescriptions for you (smiles); 1. Select the right colour What you need is first to decide on the colour of the day, because this is the compass. The colour you and your spouse select for the day influences the focus of your shopping. Interesting, a few of us so good with colour, during the four years of my practice as wedding suit doctor I had seen a very awkward colour scheme; there’s this guy, that like light green and orange, in fact, his wife said; everything about the guy is defined in orange and light green colours. These colours are fine, but the headache they are not too cool to be the predominant wedding colour. Don’t make the mistake of thinking your most cherished colour will be your predominant colour for your wedding day if you choose the wrong colour, is challenging finding the suit with that colour in the market. 2. Do Research to Find What You Like Rip pages out of magazines, click through suit boutiques online, explore on Pinterest, Instagram and check out what celebrity brides are wearing to compile a visual file of your favourite suit styles and how they are styling their look. Then look for a connecting theme with your colour of the day and styling and the basic accessories that will give you a great look. 3. Select the style you and the complementing accessories The first rule in style is to communicate your personality if you are a classic person you need to communicate it. Most times is the accessories and the fitting that get this done. If you want to look rich and reserved, types of fabrics you will use in making the suit, the colour and the style of the suit matter here most. Because, as a reserved person, you might not need too many accessories like bracelets and brooches. 4. Start the shopping process on time At least do all your shopping for two months to the wedding, don’t wait till three weeks to the wedding before you will start shopping for your suit. One way to save cost is to shop on time because you won’t be under any pressure. Most people I had encountered what caused them to make a mistake was they were under pressure. When you are under pressure because of the few days to the wedding you won’t have time to research vendors and go for necessary fitting and sizing, especially if you want a bespoke for your day. The well-fitting suit takes two to three weeks to produce, and once it arrives, you still have to factor in more time for alterations and accessorizing. 5. Figure out Your Budget Yes, it’s uncomfortable to talk numbers, but it will save you from heartache later on. Before your first appointment, figure out who is paying for the suit (your friends, or you?). If someone else is paying, get the hard numbers on your limit, so you can stay within that budget or pay the difference yourself to get the suit you want. When I ask who is paying for the suit many of my patients (customers) find it strange, while we have a hack on how to get your friends to pay for your suit without them knowing that they did. Especially if you have a huge network. The last pill will treat this. 6. Find a Great sartorial fashion brand or a boutique that sale nice suit Do your homework before you make appointments since you don’t want to waste time at a shop that doesn’t carry suit you like or has terrible customer service. Get referrals from married friends and check online reviews to find shops or tailors with solid reputations. While our clinic; Dresnice is the perfect place. But even so, do your homework. 7. Call Ahead Don’t waste your time shopping at a store that doesn’t have the style, designer, or price range you had in mind. Call the boutique or sartorial shop ahead of time to get the lowdown on their inventory before you visit. Smiles! To get in touch with the wedding suit doctor, just WhatsApp us: +2348171836780 8. As the year winds up, as usual, many folks have laid out their plans for next year. While others are shooting to pick up from the trauma of setbacks. This is normal, Donald Trump said; sometimes by losing a battle, you find a new way to win the war. In simple terms, if your plans didn’t unfold for the year, own the failure, learn for from it, to better plan for the next year. Looking at failure from this viewpoint is what we cause you to win, the next battle. So, what is the most significant element that caused you not to achieve most of your goals, for the year? I had asked this question, again and again, in each case, the response is the same; lack of finance and time are the usual answers. The answers are valid, though that you lack something doesn’t hint that you can’t create it. Even, time, we can increase our time through delegation to get things done. Likewise, finance to execute our goals, we get funds through creating other streams of income. When we create another stream of income, we deepening our resource base, this will make executing our goals that need finance much ease to execute. In this article, I will explain how you will create another stream of income by starting men’s fashion brand as a side hustle with just 180K and you will double your income. Why men’s fashion brand? Men’s fashion is an increasingly growing niche market. In the last few years — the growth of the menswear market has outpaced that of the women’s market and is forecasted to grow by 22.5% by 2020 — totalling around $22.9 billion. This is likely credited to a cultural shift pioneered by mainstream media, social media and entertainment, this cultural change is making most men, fashion-conscious unlike before. If you explore Instagram, you will encounter trending men’s fashion influencers’ like hushpuppi “the Gucci guy”, Noble Igwe, Ebuka, etc. This shift has left a robust market for men’s fashion entrepreneurs. Not just entrepreneurs’ everyone can tap into this opportunity. You might start off selling a handful of formal dress shirt and then expand into accessories, tees, casual, designer apparel, outerwear and more. How to start: Although it might seem daunting trying to break into an industry with so many established players — the size of the market leaves a lot of possibilities for cornering specific niches. Men’s fashion is something that half of the population demands in one form or another — so success depends on how well an entrepreneur knows their audience and can deliver products that will resonate to them. To start just follow these simple five steps: Define your brand: This involves coming up with a brand name; a name that is catchy and memorable. Then, develop a brand identity around the name. The importance of your brand identity is obvious–especially in the world of fashion. Clothing is highly personal because our clothing choices are one way we define our identity–to both ourselves and to the world. As a result, the brands we wear and the labels we display on our clothes become an extension of who we are and how we see ourselves. Perhaps, position your brand to echo to your targeted market. Register the brand with CAC After you have developed your brand identity, next is to protect the name by registering the brand name with Corporate affairs commission, give and take, the cost will not exceed ₦20,000 for a business name registration. While if you opt for incorporation it will exceed, but for a start, the business enterprise is enough. To complete the business documentation, immediately your business registration certificate is out, proceed to FIRS to get your Tax Identification Number certificate. You will need the certificate to open a corporate bank account. It will cost you nothing to get this certificate, but if you do not apply for the certificate within 6 months after your business registration is out. If it exceeds the grace period, they will require you to pay ₦10,000 penalty fee for doing not the right thing. Or you forget the business certificate and it will become invalid to use to run a business in Nigeria. Prepare for manufacturing: Unless you plan to sew every garment you sell, you must consider how your collection will be produced. The garment production hub or the tailor hub is not just the means to an end–it’s the partner that will help you make your ideas a physical reality. So, making the right choice of clothing garment production is critical. Well, this is the point we come in, to help maximize your effort. At DFH (Dresnice Fashion Hub) we work with any client irrespective of the person’s production budget. Our area of specialization is the production of men’s shirts and boxers, we offer exquisite finishing on a par with shirts made in East Asia. At DFH we help not only in productions, we offer free production and marketing consultancy and also we provide all the shirt packaging accessories you need to package your products at a giveaway price. These accessories include a custom woven label, size tag, tag string, shirt’s fold cardboard paper, collar support and a plastic bag. Breakdown of your production cost: Assuming you want to start with 50 units, which the minimum we can go, you will need the sum of ₦185,800 to start. It takes 3 weeks to run out the production. Woven label: 2.2 Height by 6.5 widths will cost you ₦20,500 for 1000 pieces. The unit price is ₦20.5 Shirt fold cardboard paper: 100 pieces goes for ₦2,200. The unit price is ₦22 Tag String: 1000 pieces go for ₦3500. Unit price is ₦3.5 Size Tag: 500 pieces in a roll goes for ₦2500 for each size. Unit price is ₦5, while if you are going for three different sizes, you multiply 3 by ₦2500 Brand Tag: 100 pieces go for ₦6500 for a superior grade, the unit price is ₦65 This will peg your packaging fee at ₦116 per unit shirt. While for the production, we charge ₦1600 per unit, flat price. The fabric cost will vary depending on where you opt to source for your fabrics, in Lagos, you can get your fabrics at Yaba or Oshodi market, respectively. On average, you will get quality shirt fabric; cotton at ₦1000 per yard, you need two yards to make a long sleeve shirt while you need 1 yard and a half to make a short-sleeve shirt. In choosing a garment production hub you should plan to interview several factory locations to find the one that is a right fit for your business. Hence it is not mandatory you work with us to profit from this booming business. Remember that you ensure that you maintain healthy profits margins for your business, and manufacturing will be a large percentage of your budget. Getting the best deal from your manufacturer will definitely impact on your profit. When you reach out to a manufacturer for the first time, they will have questions for you — questions that you should be equipped to answer. If you take the time to establish your budget, understand the production timeline and know your designs inside and out then you’ll be ready for them. For the profit, I know is question begging for an answer in your mind. The profit margin will vary depending on your brand positioning. Positioning as a premium brand will increase your profit margin if you are selling a unit at ₦7500 or more, but it has its demerit, your volume of sales will not be fantastic. If you positioned as fast fashion and sell at ₦5,500 you will make ₦1784 as profit, VAT inclusive. Your VAT is ₦89.2, so if you deduct the VAT it leaves you with ₦1695.8. In this situation, volume sale will be your major concern, if in a month you have two sale cycle at 50 units per cycle, you will make roughly ₦169,580 for the two cycles. To be continued. In the next article: how you will create a sale strategy, the best sale channel to leverage and how you will promote your hustle on social media platforms. Won’t you like to connect with us? A lot of people have issues dressing up in a suit because they feel unconformable when wearing one. Perhaps they avoid wearing a suit. I know of a dude working in one of the new generation banks in Nigeria, this dude has to resign from his six figure salary because he can’t cope with wearing a suit. He said wearing suit make him extreme unconformable. And, since part of the demand of his jobs is to wear one, he didn’t have a choice than to look for jobs where he can dress conformable. To him, it was the suit, and he believes that every suit makes one conformable. Well, this not true; most of the discomfort is coming from you, not the suit. If you grew up wearing sweats or other garments that fit like pyjamas then anything that fits your body is going to feel strange. In other words, you are probably not used to wearing suits. A decent suit that has been tailored to fit you correctly should not be uncomfortable. No, you won’t be able to go play football or golf in it, but that’s not what suits are for. A perfect fitted suit will be comfortable as long isn’t too small. At this point is where you need a good tailor or personal stylist comes in, he or she will take your measurements and recommend a perfectly fitted suit based on your concerns or the points of the discomfort. Think about it. What is uncomfortable? A suit is a jacket and trousers. If your trousers are not comfortable, it has nothing to do with them being part of a suit. So what is uncomfortable about the jacket? If the shoulders fit, they are not restrictive. If they have properly constructed high armholes, this gives comfort not discomfort. Also, if the suit has 1.5 inches allowance at the stomach and chest size align with the waist by 6 inches either if it is added to the chest or subtracted from the chest. The size of the chest and waist will always correlate. Too tight? Then it does not fit. Too loose? Then it does not fit. Suits are not supposed to be sausage casings. A suit jacket should hug your body but not restrictive. If you need a perfectly fitted suit, then connect with Dresnice. A Dresnice suit will never discomfort you because you select every detail online; from lapel to the vents, even the pockets and all are determined by you.
