Nigeria, U.S. Fight For Hushpuppi’s Custody From UAE
The arrest this week of a Nigerian Instagram celebrity has pitted Nigerian detectives against their counterparts from the United Arab Emirates and the United States, PREMIUM TIMES has learnt.

Nigeria and the U.S. launched the battle for the possession of Ramon Abbas, a.k.a.: Hushpuppi, following his arrest and detention by Emirati authorities earlier this week, according to two officials familiar with the development.

“Immediately we got confirmation that he had been arrested in Dubai, we all started fighting to get him,” a senior Nigerian detective told PREMIUM TIMES on Friday. “He is a subject of multiple and conflicting interests between Nigeria and the United States.”

Officials said the Federal Bureau of Investigation (F.B.I.) has been leading America’s effort to take possession of Mr Abbas because many of those he allegedly scammed in years of advance fee fraud were Americans.

Officials could not immediately estimate the financial value of Mr Abbas’ alleged fraud, citing poor cooperation from Dubai authorities, but they expressed confidence his exploits spanned across Europe, U.S. and Nigeria.

Mr Abbas’ arrest was first rumoured on Nigerian social media Tuesday, but PREMIUM TIMES was unable to get official corroboration until Friday. Even then, two officials who confirmed knowledge of the arrest and offered preliminary information elected not to do so on the record — fearing that American officials could jettison back channel negotiations that began on Thursday morning. PREMIUM TIMES also agreed not to identify both officials because their request satisfied its policy on anonymous sources.

Nigerian officials said UAE authorities have frustrated all their attempts to obtain more than a cursory account of Mr Abbas’ arrest, including when and where he was held.

“They are even reluctant to tell us the preliminary charges that they have against him so we could weigh them with the charges that we have against him in Nigeria,” one of the officials said.

Nigeria’s Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, has revealed some of the drugs used in managing COVID-19 patients in Nigeria.
The drugs include “chloroquine, hydroxychloroquine, azithromycin and some other combinations, including antiretroviral drugs.”

Ehanire spoke about the COVID-19 treatment regimen while addressing the media on Friday.

He said:-
“To see what medicines may work, we have tried chloroquine, hydroxychloroquine, azithromycin, and some other combinations including antiretroviral drugs,”

The Minister also gave updates on indigenous herbs developed for trial and the Madagascar vaccine that was recently sent to Nigeria.

“The indigenous herbs that have been developed for the trial have not yielded any result.

“We are currently reviewing all the options that are possibilities for being remedies, recently we received samples from Madagascar which we are testing,” Ehanire added.

George Floyd daughter offered scholarship to study at Texas University


On the day African American George Floyd was laid to rest, Texas Southern University announced it would be giving a full scholarship to the deceased’s 6-year-old.




The death of Floyd while being held down by the Police spurred global demands for an end to police brutality. TSU’s Board of Regents, with its foundation board, “has approved a fund to provide a full scholarship for Floyd’s beloved daughter, Gianna,” the university announced in a social media post.

“TSU’s executive and academic staff will prepare a place for Miss Floyd if she wishes to attend the University.”

Late George Floyd was born in North Carolina and grew up in Houston, where he graduated from Jack Yates High School in the shadow of TSU.

Floyd later moved to Minneapolis, where he died on May 25 while detained by police. Floyd’s funeral took place Tuesday in Houston.

His family was joined by relatives of other black people who lost their lives at the hands of police. Floyd was buried next to his mother, whom he called for as he was dying.

South African police are in a manhunt for three women who allegedly gang-raped a man after being drugged for three days.
The police, in a statement that quoted the 23-year-old man from Nellmapius‚ east of Pretoria‚ said his ordeal began on Friday when he took a taxi along Solomon Mahlangu Drive towards Pretoria CBD.

The police said the victim told how other than the drivers there were three young females who were said to be Nigerians and were part of passengers inside the taxi.

According to TimesLive, en route to town, the taxi driver changed directions and the young man was asked to sit in the front seat.

One of the women then allegedly injected him with an unknown substance, and he passed out.

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has been dragged before a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja over an alleged forged certificate and perjury.

A Nigerian man is currently under fire on Facebook after he posted on the platform that he can’t wait to have his own baby girl so he could sleep with her while her mum is not around.
The man said this while reacting to a shocking post about a man abusing his own child. While people said the story was too horrible to be real, Facebook user, Ofe Noni, laughed about it and said he can’t wait to be able to have a daughter, so he can abuse her sexually.

Prophet Odumeje(INDABOSKI) Apologises To Anambra, Imo Communities
An Onitsha-based cleric, Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere popularly known as Odumeje, has apologised to people of Awka, Anambra state capital over alleged threat to destroy their festival, known as Imo-Awka.
The controversial cleric also tendered unreserved apology to the people of Arondizuogu in Imo state for allegedly vowing to put a stop to the Ikeji festival of the community.

In a statement on Monday, Odumeje described the people of both communities as peace- loving, who he claimed to have known and shared fellowship in his church over the years.

He however said the experience had thought him that ungaurded utterances with divisive tendencies needed to be checked.

The statement partly reads: “My attention has been drawn to the publications on social media over the alleged face-off between me and the good people of Awka and Arondizuogu Clcommunities in Anambra and Imo state respectively.

“In the said posts, I was potrayed as declaring war on the people of these communities and their respective traditional festivals and beliefs, It was also alleged that I had vowed to destroy Imo-Awka festival and put a stop to the Ikeji festival of Arondizuogu.

“Consequently, upon the above, I wish to acknowledge that the people of Awka and Arondizuogu Communities are peace loving and I have over the years come to share fellowship and service in church with a great number of them.

“These two communities and their renouned indegenes have been known and recognised as major contributors to the development of their states, Igboland and the nation at large.

“Awka and Arondizuogu communities have produced great men and women of integrity and pedigree and have always remained at the top of great sons and daughters of Igbo land.

“Against this backdrop and with every humility as a Servant of the Living God, I sincerely apologise to the great people of these two communities, to the entire people of Igbo land and to my elders for my utterances.I will not make any attempts to justify my statement as even I can see that it is hurtful in all its ramifications.

Few days after an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Theophilus Otobo and a Police Inspector, Oguntoba Olamigoke were arrested for the death of a teenager, Tina Ezekwe another police inspector, Monday Gabriel, has been arrested for unruly behaviour which led to the death of a Sergeant in Ikoyi area of Lagos.
The Police Inspector attached to Police Mobile Force Squadron 21 Abuja, was on Special duty in a Federal Government facility in Ikoyi Lagos when he went berserk and started shooting sporadically.

It was gathered that at about 4:00 am on Sunday 31st May 2020, Sergeant Felix Okago who was on Special duty with the Inspector, died from the gunshot injuries while others escaped unhurt.

UNIBEN Undergraduate Raped, Killed While Reading Inside Church, Friends, Others Demand Justice

A 22-year-old 100Level student of Microbiology at the University of Benin, Edo State, Vera Uwaila Omozuwa, has been brutally raped and killed inside a Redeemed Christian Church of God branch in the city while reading.

The tragic incident, which happened three days ago, according to friends, saw her attackers smashing her head with a fire extinguisher and leaving her unconscious around the Ikpoba Hill area of Benin City, the state capital.

Despite being rushed to the intensive care unit of a hospital, Omozuwa couldn't make it as she succumbed to the injuries sustained during the savage attack.

Friends and all those, who knew her closely during her lifetime, have been paying tribute and calling for the perpetrators of the crime to be brought to justice.

"It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing away of our loved one, friend, sister and course mate.

"She was raped on her way home from church and had her head smashed with a fire extinguisher in broad day light around Ikpoba Hill, Benin City. This happened yesterday, May 30, 2020," one friend wrote.

A Twitter user with the handle @Weezard2 wrote, "Now this is a girl that just got admission, hasn't even done matriculation, and she was murdered in church.

"She's a newly admitted student of University of Benin, Microbiology Department. #justiceForUwa."

Also commenting on the incident, another Twitter user with the handle @MohammedBlack_ said, "Saddening how our community gradually becomes unsafe for us. People getting killed on a daily frivolously.

"May Uwa's soul rest in peace and I hope her family ever finds the strength to bear this loss. This is for all of us. Hopefully, the perpetrators are caught! #justiceForUwa."

In his own tribute on Twitter, OptomDr0812 said, "I had high hopes that you will make it, I told your mum to be strong, you are just too soft to go through such excruciating pain.

"You fought with those animals, you fought to stay alive in ICU, please don't rest until those demons are caught. #justiceforuwa."

Nigerian media personality Daddy Freeze has again taken a swipe at Nigeria over the way they are handling the COVID 19 pandemic in the nation.

Reacting to news of Rwanda launching their robots to help in screening suspected patients, in turn, relieving their health workers of some work, he bashed the Nigerian government.

Poor’ From Paying Tax In Cross River (Watch Video)
Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River state broke down in tears while addressing the state, announcing the illegal tax on the poor in the state.
On Thursday, Gov Ben Ayade lamented the plight of some of the rural poor, low-income earners who are faced with the tax burden in Cross River state.

While inaugurating the Anti-Tax Agency on Wednesday, Governor Ayade put a stop to the taxation of the poor, small business owners, artisans, low-income earners, peasant farmers, among others in the state while also condemning the actions of some government officials who forcefully exact taxes from the poor.

Ayade insists that the poor must be protected and therefore charged the new Anti-Tax Agency to ensure that ‘the poor’ are exempted from paying taxes.
