Bonn2007: Hello N/L
I'll like to make an inquiry on a topic that could be somehow off topic to this group but important for me.
If one is given the opportunity to choose between relocating with his/her family to either Germany or the UK with equivalent opportunity of job security in both countries, which country will it be recommendable to take, after all possible pros/cons has been considered
Thanks. I think (not sure though) that it takes longer to qualify for German citizenship than UK citizenship so you should also consider that. Language is also a compelling reason for the UK I believe that cost of living in major cities in the UK is higher though, for example London costs are higher compared to Berlin. Education, including advanced degrees, is free for you and your kids in Germany as well. Those are my two cents. By the way I haven't lived in either country I just have family in the UK and I'm moving to Germany |

jkong: 8 days (6 working days + weekend)
but 3 of those days were "Transport days". If you stay in Lagos, it should take 5 days or less since you've essentially cut out the extra days for transporting your documents Hi Jkong Did you have to show the immigration officers your contract or any other documentation at the airport? Thanks |

jkong: Guys I made it to Germany.
It's just over a week since I got here so I'm still settling in. The weather is nice and Warm, no complaints about that. The entire process took 1 month and 1 week after my Visa interview
And concerning the issue with my change of name (check page 59 and 60). It wasn't an issue. I asked the Embassy officer directly and he said it's not a problem as long as your academic documents BEAR THE SAME NAME AS YOUR PASSPORT.If your birth cert has a different name Just take the legal change of name document along with you. He looked at it but he said there's no need to submit it. NOTE: This is for work Visa. I don't think it applies to family reunion since your name is the only way of establishing the relationship.
Thanks for all the Info and encouragement guys! I don't have much experience with the system here but I'm open to other questions before the Visa i.e Application process, requirements, Travel Insurance etc Congrats jkong! I'd like to know how long after you submitted travel insurance and dates before you got your passport back? |

nuel80: If the embassy actually made this appointment for you then you are lucky. And if you are sure of being in Berlin on that date, I advice you to take it, as I did not get a date on time, the appointment are quickly booked, accept it to avoid delays. Goodluck Hmm...thanks @nuel80 I'm just confused because the embassy hasn't sent back my documents since I submitted health insurance. Only for me to check my spam and see this appointment. How long does it typically take after submitting travel dates to get your passport back? |

nuel80: Yes it’s only your departure date you need to give them, but your departure should be minimum 7 days from the day you would submit it. Thank you |

nuel80: Her expired passport is not a valid document, that man at the gate will show her pepper if she goes there with the expired passport. It’s a short term visa she’s applying for, so they would need to hold the passport, and it has to be valid for minimum 6months and with at least 3 empty pages. Hi nuel80 The embassy has requested travel insurance and travel dates from me. Can I indicate just my departure date since I'm going on a work visa? Thanks |

Hello house
Not sure who this helps but it seems the appointment wait time for work visa has reduced greatly
I booked an appointment on Sunday for long term visa with no pre-approval and I got a date for 16th of next month today
So if you're hoping to try for a work visa you can forge ahead |

NwadiNK: It's the same thing. Once u get a certified private practicing notary that has a seal to show for it, it's fine doesn't necessarily have to go to the court.
I used that notary to get my documents certified for uni-assist application and it was more than accepted.
Anyway, bros if u want to go to high court of Justice to do it, just do what u feel comfortable. The most important thing is to get it notorised and certified, period. Thanks for the response! I stay on the island so I think I'll just do it at the German Embassy |

Hello all
I just got an offer from a company in Berlin and I need some advice about the work permit application process
1.) How do I certify my degree certificate in Lagos? 2.) What do I use as work experience letters if I cannot get references?
I'll really appreciate an answer from anyone who knows about work permits! |
