London has been the worlds greatest city for more than 300 years. New York only gained brief superiority after London was nearly completely destroyed by two world wars.

There have been many pretenders to London's throne but it is stronger now than at any time in the last 100 years.

Unfortunately America is too busy fighting wars in far far away lands to guard its own borders properly. Phoenix has now become the United States kidnap capital thanks to mexicans swarming over the border to settle drug feuds.

Comparing UK and US crime stats is meaningless. Many crimes treated as serious in the UK are down graded in the US.

new yorks so called 'safest city' boast is also contentious, crime figures are downgraded or simply not recorded so as not to damage the coverted 'safest city' status.

The hosting of the event was awarded to london because it's been generations since they hosted it, mind you New york was not really interested in the hosting because they had other bordering issues, i bet that if they had been serious about it then london would not have had the slightest chance.

the only thing new york wins hands down is the award for relentless self promotion and ignorance of everywhere else - which pretty much goes for new yorkers too

shopping and entertainment is no better than any major european city
most cab drivers cant even speak english
and NY nightlife is about as cutting edge as a cashmere sweater

New York skyline is boring and no different to a thousand skylines in Asia and throughout the world - London's is unique and instantly recognisable.
