Politics › Again, Borno IDPs Protest Poor Method Of Feeding In Camps- Vanguard by BeeBeeOoh(op): 12:14am On Aug 30, 2016
MAIDUGURI—Less than 24 hours after Alhaji Aliko Dangote and a popular world musician, Mr. Paul David Hewson, popularly known as Bono, visited IDP camps in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, hundreds of aggrieved Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, from Bakassi camp, yesterday, stormed the streets in protest, barricading Maiduguri-Biu road in the metropolis.

The IDPs alleged poor feeding and ill-treatment by government and other humanitarian agencies.

The IDPs, who, though were peaceful in their protest, said they were not satisfied with a situation where a family of three or four people would be given same amount of foodstuff as a family of 10 or 15, blaming the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, for the poor arrangement.

It took the quick intervention of state government officials and North-East Coordinator of NEMA, Alhaji Mohammed Kanar, to douse the tension.

Reacting to the protest, Mohammed Bashir Tarbari, who is the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Kashim Shettima on Information Communication Technology (ICT) and Social Media, said the ongoing IDPs protest in camps was instigated by a group of politicians with deep rooted prejudice against the administration of Governor Kashim Shettima to cause disaffection.

He said: “It has come to the notice of the government that the disgruntled and desperate politicians for self-centredness use some vulnerable people at various internally displaced persons camps to cause conflict between the authorities and the respective communities by instigating them to protest on unfounded allegations, with regards to their feeding system.

“It must be realised that in a situation as this, where hundreds and thousands of internally displaced persons are being catered for, there might be minor mistakes which do not erode the good intentions of the authorities to give the best possible to the affected. Besides, there will always be room for improvement.

“Now that peace is gradually returning to Borno and elsewhere, it behoves on us all as patriotic people to work in harmony for the people and not to aggravate the situation to cause further untold hardship on the people.

“Therefore, the people of Borno, especially those in the internally displaced persons’ camps, should be wary of some unscrupulous politicians or individuals who may wish to use them for their personal agenda or to settle political scores.

“It has become imperative for all to know that the era of impunity is over and it behoves on the law enforcement agencies to bring sanity to the entire system by bringing to book the trouble makers and masterminds of violence, irrespective of their status in the society.

“Borno State government would continue to discharge its responsibility and mandate to all against all odds.”

Bakassi has a population of 152,000 IDPs from Nganzai, Monguno, Gwoza and other local government areas of the state.

Politics › Itsekiris Are Planning To Attack Ijaw Communities - Warri Group by BeeBeeOoh(op): 11:45pm On Aug 29, 2016
WARRI—THE Warri Ijaw Peace Monitoring Group, WIPG, in Warri, Delta State, yesterday, alleged that some Itsekiri war lords were planning to attack Ijaw communities in Warri and environs.

Chairman of WIPG, Chief Patrick Bigha, in a statement, said that the war lords want to provoke retaliation so that the military would invade and occupy Ijaw communities under the guise of maintaining peace.

The group pleaded with His Majesty, Ogiame Ikenwoli, Olu of Warri , to call the supposed war lords to order.

“Currently, some Itsekiri groups are claiming that they are the owners of the entire land the people of Gbaramatu Kingdom are occupying. We make bold to say that there is no element of truth in that claim,” he said.

These girls must be rescued at all costs, it's just that our regard for human lives is nothing to write home about, these girls shouldn't have taken a month to rescue.

This was where the fedora doffing PhD holder goofed, dem swindle am gan knowing he doesn't care much about thorough supervision and investigations, he approved and believed everything his advisers told him.
If not for your hate for GEJ, you would have known that GEJ was adviced by high ranking military officers then to keep quiet for sometime so that the release of the chibok girls will be perfected, but oppositions(APC, Oby Ezekwesili & her BBOG group) thwarted the move so as to use it as a tool to campaign against GEJ. If i may ask you, has your lord that promised to bring back Chibok Girls In Two Weeks Of Assuming Office Fulfilled The Promise?? Please stop hating GEJ for no reason, because he tried his best though it wasn't enough. And lastly, If I should advice you, chanel all this strength & might you always use to criticize GEJ to PMB & I bet you he will start doing wonders. #shalom

I pray this will clear a little hate you have for GEJ..

Politics › Buhari To Niger Delta Militants: Negotiation Remains Your Best Option by BeeBeeOoh(op): 5:37am On Aug 29, 2016
President Muhammadu Buhari says Niger Delta militants must either dialogue with the federal government or risk being dealt with like Boko Haram insurgents.
B Kenya, late Saturday at a bilateral meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on the sidelines of the sixth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD).

President Buhari also told the Japanese leader that his administration was negotiating with some of the leaders of the militants.

The president said with the defeat of Boko Haram insurgents by the military, his administration’s attention was now focused on stopping the destruction of the nation’s economic assets by the Niger Delta militants.
He said: “The militants must dialogue with the federal government or be dealt with in the same way like Boko Haram. We are talking to some of their leaders. We will deal with them as we dealt with Boko Haram if they refuse to talk to us.

“As a government, we know our responsibility, which is to secure the environment. It is clear to us that lenders won’t fund projects in insecure environments. We realise that we have to secure the country before we can efficiently manage it.”

The president assured existing and prospective foreign investors that their investments in Nigeria would be fully secured and protected.

He outlined several steps taken by his administration to secure Nigeria and create an enabling business environment in the country.

He noted that security in the Gulf of Guinea, greatly affected by piracy, was a priority of his government.
‘‘We have provided funds to our Navy to buy new platforms, train and effectively organize the personnel to protect the area. We are looking forward to support from developed nations for satellite surveillance covering the Gulf,” he said.

The president recalled his last year’s audience with G7 leaders in Germany which was attended by the Japanese leader.
He thanked Japan for responding positively to the requests by Nigeria for the rehabilitation of victims of Boko Haram as well as rebuilding of infrastructure in the North-east.

He, however, noted that more had to be done on education, health and other sectors in order to ensure quick and voluntary return of displaced persons.
On the United Nations Security Council reform, Buhari agreed to work with Japan for the reforms, emphasising that the case for a permanent seat for Africa on the council was a moral one.

He expressed Nigeria’s support for Japan in its bid for a UN resolution on the problems in East China and South China as well as the “uncontrolled nuclear tests by North Korea.”

In his remarks, the Japanese leader congratulated Buhari “for courageously tackling Boko Haram terrorism.”
Abe maintained that Nigeria and Japan must work together to improve the investment climate in view of the many Japanese companies wishing to invest in Nigeria.
He reiterated his country’s commitment to rapid development in Nigeria through quality delivery of ongoing projects in the country, including Jebba hydro power scheme and the Lagos railway project.

Some will blame PMB for this but I won't.
So long our appetite for foreign goods consumption is high, Naira will continue to fall. I heard the story of a Nigerian family that buys their vegetables from stores in the UK.
Buhari must stand firm with steady hands and force a change of taste from Nigerians. This is our time to finally restructure how our FX are utilised.
We must eat Nigerian Rice, buy Nigeria made cars etc.
if you won't blame him, then let's blame GEJ..

Politics › FG Ready To Swap B/haram Detainees For Chibok Girls- Daily Trust by BeeBeeOoh(op): 5:21am On Aug 29, 2016
President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed the federal government’s readiness to swap the over 200 abducted Chibok schoolgirls with Boko Haram detainees.
The president was addressing journalists in Nairobi, Kenya, at the weekend on the sidelines of the sixth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD).

He reiterated the government’s preparedness to discuss the release of the girls, emphasising that it was ready to take all necessary measures to ensure their freedom.
He, how ever, stressed that government would only enter into discussions with genuine Boko Haram leaders who know the girls’ whereabouts.
He said authentic leaders of the sect could reach the federal government through an internationally recognised non-governmental organisation and must be able to prove that they are holding the girls.
“I have made a couple of comments on the Chibok girls and it seems to me that much of it has been politicised. What we said is that the government, which I preside over, is prepared to talk to bonafide leaders of Boko Haram.
“If they do not want to talk to us directly, let them pick an internationally recognised non-governmental organisation, convince them that they are holding the girls and that they want Nigeria to release a number of Boko Haram leaders in detention, which they are supposed to know. If they do it through the ‘modified leadership’ of Boko Haram and they talk with an internationally recognised NGO, then, Nigeria will be prepared to discuss for their release,” he said.
The president maintained that the government would not waste time and resources on “doubtful sources”.
“We want those girls out and safe. The faster we can recover them and hand them over to their parents, the better for us,” Buhari said.
On the Niger Delta crisis, Buhari said the government was also open to dialogue to resolve all contending issues in the area.
“We do not believe that they (the militants) have announced ceasefire. We are trying to understand them more. Who are their leaders and which areas do they operate and other relevant issues,” he said.
