The Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, said on Wednesday that he was placed under house arrest by security operatives at the old President Lodge of the Government House in Rivers State.

He explained that the development stopped him from attending the national convention of the party.

Fayose, who spoke through his Special Adviser on Social Media, Mr. Lere Olayinka, expressed sadness over the development.

The governor, who was conspicuously absent at the convention that eventually held at the Rivers State PDP secretariat, said an Armoured Personnel Carrier was used to block the lodge where he was a guest.

The Rivers State Police Commissioner, Mr. Francis Odesanya, however, said such an issue had not come to his knowledge.

Odesanya said, “That can’t be true; it is not to my knowledge. How did other excellencies (governors) move out of the place?”

When I warned our people about President Muhammadu Buhari and what he would do with power no-one listened.
When I warned the PDP leadership and particularly our PDP governors about the dangers of making Ali Modu Sheriff National Chairman they would not listen.
I also told them that the government would NOT allow the convention to hold because Sheriff is working for them.
Now look at what they are doing in PH in collusion with some corrupt judges just to destabilise, destroy and silence the opposition.
Governors put under house arrest. Convention venue sealed off. Delegates prevented from entering the stadium. It is shameful.

Let me make a another prediction: this is just the beginning of their tyranny. It will get far worse. That is "mai chanji" for you!

The sooner the leaders of the PDP wake up, smell the coffee and appreciate the kind of monster they are dealing with and the sooner they elect and select leaders that are prepared to risk their lives and liberty to confront this government the better.

If you want democracy and freedom you must be prepared to confront the dictator and fight for it. Where there is no justice, there can be no peace. Where there is no freedom, there can be no joy.

My dear egbon Dr. Doyin Okupe, a man for whom I have the greatest respect and affection and one of the most for idable and credible leaders in our party, has suggested that we should "negotiate" with Ali Modu Sheriff to settle this issue and that we should "not blame Buhari and the APC for our woes" but rather we should blame ourselves.

He is partially right on the latter point but not on the former. My response to him which wad posted on his Facebook wall reads as follows:
"Egbon mi, I beg to differ. If you remember I warned the governors about Shetiff when they imposed him on us.

The PDP Ministers Forum rejected him as did the PDP Board of Trustees but the governors would not listen.
Now we have been vindicated because everything that we said would happen has come to pass.
[b]The imposition of Sheriff by the Governors Forum was the biggest mistake that we have made since conceeding the election to Buhari and frankly, as I wrote at the time, I believe that he bewitched the governors that brought him and indeed those in the party that accepted him and agreed to work with him.
Now the power of the spell has worne off and their eyes have opened. Sadly though things will get worse because Sheriff is under orders: he is working a script and that script was crafted by those who commissioned him to divide, weaken and kill our party.

When you open your doors for a snake what do you expect? I am not surprised by all he is doing because he is acting true to type: he is a green snake who has dipped his fangs deeply into our flesh and whose poison is kiling us slowly.
Truth is that there can never be any compromise with Sheriff. You cannot compromise with the devil or a snake.
You cannot wine and dine or attempt to cohabit with a creature that the great writer and teacher, Mr. David Icke, describes as a "shape-shifting sociopath and reptilian".[/b]
There can be no felllowship between light and darkness even in politics. You cannot negotiate with a narcicistic meglomaniac who wants your head to be cut off and served to him on a silver platter.
Sheriff is working for Buhari to destroy the PDP and he has almost succeeded in his mission.
The only answer is for us to continue to fight him in the courts and elsewhere and, if push comes to shove, form another party, get our members and supporters to join that party and leave the bastard with the carcass of the old PDP.


Very few people will stay with him because carcasses tend to stink and because he is the quuntessential plague. After some time even his most diehard supporters will get sick of him and abandon him.
Finally let us remember the following. We must never attempt to appease a tyrant: it encourages him in his tyranny and it gives him pleasure. To the bully, compromise is seen as nothing more than weakness".

The federal government has launched an investigation on the possible involvement of former President Goodluck Jonathan with the spate of bombings that have crippled the country’s oil industry and affected itspower generation capabilities.
Credible intelligence sources have told Daily Trust that a hushed up investigation is already underway to establish the level of involvement of Mr Jonathan in the series of explosions affecting the country’s oil producing infrastructure that has left the country unable to produce nearly a third of its 2.2 million barrels of crude oil per day.

This situation has left the government unable to implement its budget of 6 trillion Naira that was predicated on its agreed quota level and is further confounded by low crude oil price.
Nigeria’s Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun has since declared that Nigeria is technically in recession.
There has been an earlier allegation by the militant group, the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) that the former President is complicit in the bombing of oil installations but which he denied.

Daily Trust gathered that suspicion of the former President’s involvement with activities of militants in the oil producing Niger Delta region was further strengthened after it emerged that one of the groups that threatened to declare a Niger Delta republic was dissuaded from doing so by Mr Jonathan.

According to a source familiar with the matter, the sabotage of oil and power installations was part of what he called the former President’s plan B after he lost the last general elections to President Muhammadu Buhari and is meant to discredit the present administration.
The source added that the ultimate aim of Mr Jonathan is to use his possible intercession with those responsible for the disruptions in the oil and power installations to stop investigations and possible trial of himself and his wife over corruption matters.

Speaking to Daily Trust on phone last night, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said he was not aware that the former president was being investigated by security agencies over allegations linking him to the spate of bombings by militants in the Niger Delta region.

He however said that “these allegations have refused to go away, and those making the allegations are not backing out. So I will not be surprised if the security agencies show interest in it, but I am not aware.”
The former president could not be reached for comment on the matter yesterday, neither was his media aide, Mr. Ikechukwu Eze.

However, one of Mr. Jonatan’s former aides who preferred not to be named said the former president had earlier this month denied such allegation when it was made by MEND.

Jonathan’s statement issued by Mr Eze in Abuja on August 7, denied he was a sponsor of NDA [Niger Delta Avengers].
He rather countered that the group’s hidden agenda was to kill him.

It will be recalled that Niger Delta militants had at various times before the elections vowed that they would make Nigeria ungovernable if Mr. Jonathan lost his party’s nomination or if he was defeated by Buhari.
The most publicised threat was made by top militant leaders at a meeting in Bayelsa Government House. At that meeting militants leaders such as Asari Dokubo and Tompolo threatened to declare war on Nigeria if Jonathan should lose the election.

They took the decision at a meeting attended by the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs, and chairman of Amnesty Implementation Committee, Kingsley Kuku; Bayelsa state Governor, Seriake Dickson; President General of Ijaw Youth Council, Udengs Eradiri and Victor Ben Ebikabowei, aka, Boy Loaf.

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, on Wednesday said that he has found the original copies of his academic credentials, which had earlier been declared missing in a sworn affidavit.

Obaseki had, in the said affidavit submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission for the September 10 election, reportedly stated that his academic documents got missing while he was moving his office from one place to another.

The development had on Monday attracted criticisms from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, which described his reasons for not being in possession of the certificates as “flimsy” and “unconvincing.”

However, Obaseki, who spoke during an interactive session organised by civil societies for governorship candidates in Benin, noted that though he had no reason to search for the documents, he had to provide the photocopies and swear to an affidavit for the election.

He explained, “I have found them. The truth is that I have not had any reason to look for them in the last 25 years. I know that I kept them somewhere in a safe box and I had photocopies.

“When I needed them for the exercise, I could not find them. So, I swore to an affidavit that I cannot find the originals.

He said that the photocopies of the documents were certified by the issuing institutions.

Obaseki added, “I took the photocopies to the institutions that issued them and they certified the photocopies.

“So when the whole controversy started raging, my cousin called me from New York and said, ‘But your originals are here. I said, ‘Please, send them to me now.”

The APC candidate also reiterated that his administration would provide security and manpower necessary to attract investors.
