Politics › NSDSC Destroys 250 Illegal Refineries, Arrests 118 Vandals by BeeBeeOoh(op): 5:18am On Jul 16, 2016
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) said it has destroyed over 250 illegal refineries and made over 118 arrest in the last one year.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Corps spokesperson, Emmanuel Okeh on Friday in Abuja.

The statement quoted the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Abdullahi Gana has disclosing this in his office.

He said over 40 suspects had also been convicted since he assumed duty in July 2015.
Gana said that the pro-activeness of the Corps Anti-Vandal squad in the Niger-Delta area and other oil communities in clamping on the illegal activities of the suspects brought about the feat based on intelligence report.

The NSCDC boss said the Corps has been partnering with NNPC in ensuring adequate distribution of petroleum products to all filling stations across the country as well as checkmating the activities of unscrupulous marketers.

He said that the establishment of the Command and Control Centre had assisted the Corps in monitoring all the pipelines in Niger Delta.
He stressed that the Command and Control Centre operates 24 hours for the purpose of surveillance of the pipelines in order to clamp down on vandals.

Gana said that the introduction of the Centre led to the establishment of Nigeria Security Energy Command (NISEC) for training of its personnel (NAN)

Politics › Imo State Uncovers N700m Pension Fraud- Daily Sun by BeeBeeOoh(op):
•Blames it for accumulated arrears

The Imo State Government has said that it has uncovered a high level of fraud that has been on for many years in the state Pension Board. The fraud, the sate said was allegedly perpetrated by highly placed officials in the Board in concert with some retired civil servants.

The disclosure was made recently by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Owerri, Chief Uche Nwosu in an interview with Daily Sun.
According to Nwosu, the state government discovered the fraud following an audit panel it instituted adding that those indicted by the findings have been removed including the boss of the Board and an entirely new staff deployed to the Pension Board.

The Chief of Staff stated that the fund resulted from the accumulated pension of N1.3 billion in contrast to the authentic pension of N600 million which is an increase of above 100 per cent.

Reacting to non payment of pension arrears that recently resulted in protest in the state by pensioners, Nwosu stated that the state government was not in denial that it was not owing Pensioners. He, however, promised that the state government would by the end of this month (July) clear the arrears, noting that the state government had in recent months embarked on cleaning the Aegean stable in the State Pension Board as well as ‘ghost pensioners’ discovered during the audit probe.

Nwosu stated that the Governor, Rochas Okorocha has the interest of Pensioners at heart and that the State Labour Congress has been briefed on the government commitment to clear the Pension arrears very soon.

He also refuted the reports that the state is ‘broke’ following a recent report by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBs) that listed Imo State as one of the states that risked bankruptcy as a result of its low Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

The Chief of Staff said that the fundamentals of the state’s economy remains strong in spite of the financial downturn in the nation’s economy. In this regards, he said that following the reorganization of the state’s internal revenue sources, the State’s IGR has increased appreciably to over N600 million a month.

He assured that the government has designed strategies that would further increase the state’s finances and make it less dependent on federal allocation.

Politics › Buhari, Your Citizens Are Dying- Oby Ezekwesili by BeeBeeOoh(op): 5:24am On Jul 12, 2016
Former Minster of Education and Bring Back Our Girls, BBOG, activist, Oby Ezekwesili ‏has voiced out her concerns as regards the incessant attacks by the herdsmen on citizens of the country.

Oby in a series of tweets called out the Federal Government on its inaction to the massacres and attacks perpetrated by the Fulani herdsmen.

She further called on the president, Muhammadu Buhari to sit up and act accordingly in order to bring an end to recurrence of the mayhem.

She wrote:

– No nation survives Government inaction in the face of persistent assault on VALUE of LIFE. At what point will FG DECISIVELY TACKLE HERDSMEN?No nation survives Government inaction in the face of persistent assault on VALUE of LIFE. At what point will FG DECISIVELY TACKLE HERDSMEN?

– Many times, one has asked the FG to replicate its counter-insurgency effort in tackling #HERDSMEN. Why is there a seeming lack of TRACTION?

– I had written several other times that TENTATIVENESS on #HERDSMEN is eerily similar to how Boko Haram was handled in early days. WHY REPEAT?

– Human Dignity is the CORE VALUE on which healthy social interaction is forged & social capital accumulated. WHY HAVE WE TRASHED THIS VALUE?

– My heart goes out to our Benue State kith & kin who once again have NEEDLESSLY been slaughtered. FG MUST ACT TO END TO THE KILLINGS. ACT!!!

– Why has NATIONAL INTELLIGENCE failed to offer the Nigerian public a COHERENT information on this menace of #HERDSMEN? WHO ARE THEY, REALLY??

– President @MBuhari Citizens DEMAND that YOU not only ACT but be ACTUALLY SEEN TO ACT on the #HERDSMEN MAYHEM. Your CITIZENS ARE DYING. ACT!

– My heart goes out to our Benue State kith & kin who once again have NEEDLESSLY been slaughtered. FG MUST ACT TO END THE KILLINGS. ACT!!!

She further metioned the recent killing of two women, Bridget Agbahime in Kano and more recently, Eunice Elisha’s killing by suspected Islamists in Abuja. She wrote:

– Two women – Bridget Agbahime & now
Eunice Elisha have been NEEDLESSLY KILLED for their faith. FG & @PoliceNG OWE THEM SPEEDY JUSTICE.

– As I had indicated when #BridgetAgbahime was killed in cold blood in Kano, WE are following the @PoliceNG prosecution CLOSELY 4 her JUSTICE.

– ALL CITIZENS MUST DEMAND that FG ACTS DECISIVELY with JUDICIARY to MAKE EXAMPLES of those that KILL fellow Citizens like #BridgetAndEunice

Politics › Call For Buratai's Sack: CESJET Carpets Falana by BeeBeeOoh(op): 11:00pm On Jul 10, 2016
The Centre for Social Justice, Equity and Transparency (CESJET) has hailed human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN) for having the decency to acknowledge the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai’s “commendable feat of leading the Nigerian Army to defeat Boko Haram in the North East,” saying that “such recognition coming from Falana even as he attacked Buratai demonstrated the dilemma of those that have openly declared their hatred for the nation.”

It said those behind the calls should have by now developed a capacity for feeling shame since they know that their demands have no connection with national interest but was instead borne out of malice for President Muhammadu Buhari, whom they want to deprive of his trusted aides. CESJET, in a statement on Sunday, by its Executive Secretary, Comrade Ikpa Isaac, however lamented that selfish interest drove Falana to lend his voice to those seeking Buratai’s ouster by calling for his sack or resignation.

The statement expressed regrets that the foremost human rights lawyer unwittingly fell into the trap of speaking for those that want to buy time for Boko Haram to regroup or has simply exposed himself as part of the nation’s problem since only those that are opposed to the defeat of the terrorists and the exposure of their sponsors are the one’s demanding Buratai’s sack.

Isaac said: “For a man who mounts stiff defence of clients accused of corruption, Falana’s statement that accused, tried, condemned and sentenced the COAS to a sack in one breadth smacks of double standards and raises questions about the positions he had earlier taken on other national issues.

“It is not surprising that this is the path Falana is taking considering his recent encouragement to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to disregard the immunity of a sitting governor without regards for the impasse that could result therein.

“The allegations that the renowned lawyer is putting his governorship ambition in Ekiti state above public interest is finally being proven since those that allocate tickets in the All Progressives Congress (APC) have earlier been fingered in the plot to oust Buratai from his current post. It is also becoming a certainty, given the intensity of this campaign of calumny that the incumbent COAS is merely a pawn to these people that are desperate to decimate persons they perceive as loyal to President Buhari so that they can fill the resulting vacuum with their own henchmen.

“We are also not surprised that their vituperations came on a day that the military made one of its most decisive strikes against Boko Haram, killing 16 terrorists, capturing two alive and seizing highly sophisticated weapons from the terrorists.

“In a curious coincidence, Falana issued his statement on the same day as several NGOs that are known to answer to the APC power block he is sucking up to for the governorship ticket issued similarly worded statements. The coordination was perfect to the point that there were supporting newspaper editorials.

“Falana and his co-travellers have in reality become threats to the civil society movement in Nigeria; Gani Fawehinmi will in no doubt be terribly bitter in his grave that his compatriots have abandoned the core issues of humanity, which he fought for his entire life, and have gone to dine with the devil.

“They also interpret the constitution like pastors who are out to make money from the congregation not minding if they tell the truth or not. This is indeed a very risky dimension that persons with clout in the society must not ply,” CESJET warned.

Politics › Soldiers Repel Boko Haram Attack At Rann, Borno State by BeeBeeOoh(op): 11:39pm On Jul 09, 2016
Yesterday evening remnants of Boko Haram terrorists in their numbers attacked our troops location at Rann, Kala Balge Local Government Area of Borno State. The terrorists came with Motorcycles Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (MCBIED), Anti-Aircraft Guns and other weapons at about 5.00pm and the exchange of fire lasted for some hours before they were overwhelmed by the troops firepower.

Unfortunately, one of the terrorists' suicide bomber detonated himself at a gun truck killing the driver and the gunner. The truck and the mounted weapon were also damaged beyond repairs. In addition 2 soldiers were wounded in action while 3 others sustained minor injuries.

The troops killed 7 of the attackers instantly while quite a number escaped with gun shot wounds. During clearance operations this morning, the troops discovered 9 more Boko Haram terrorists dead bodies in the surrounding areas. Therefore the total number of terrorists killed was 16.

The troops also recovered a General Purpose Machine Gun, Rocket Propelled Grenade, ammunitions and captured 2 of the terrorists alive.

The bodies of the 2 fallen heroes and the wounded in action soldiers have been evacuated to Maiduguri, while reinforcement was sent from Gomboru Ngala.

In a related development, troops have also discovered and safely detonated 2 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) planted along Gomboru-Rann road. It is believed that the IEDs were planted yesterday to prevent troops reinforcement to Rann while the attack lasted.

The Commanding Officer of 3 Battalion has visited the troops and held durbar with them. He commended them for their doggedness during attack and also urged them not to lower their guards.

Despite the incident, troops morale remains very high and they have continued with their clearance operations.

Thank you for your kind cooperation.

That's why I hold Tunery004, Purityval and Dioxidane to a high esteem...

Most of the writers are kinda selfish n wicked. Imagine Seun not billing anyone to post or share their stories on NL and after pulling lotta fans to read up their yeye stories, they halt the stories halfway n place price tag on it...

An example is a lovely story we all followed from seasons 1-6... The writer decided to monetize seasons 7-9... I bought 7 n 8 but decided not to buy season 9...

Tunery004, Purityval, Dioxidane, I love you guys. #NoHomo

All hail to Purityval, Tunery004, Dioxidane, Drnoel, Nitefury & Co. These guys u & I mentioned above write their stories just for fun & without it been monetized as we see here these days.

One writer once said that he has site/domain to maintain every month, yes we know but the owner of this site do not charge you for advertising your stories here or did you as a writer contribute a kobo for Seun 2 main his site? it's obvious that some writer's here are taking this issue of monetizing their stories to another dimension & it's really saddening. We all came here 2 have fun, but it seems some people are trying 2 use another man's sweat to make money. Lest I forget,

Crime › How I Diverted, Sold 33,000 Litres Of Diesel, Set Truck Ablave- Suspect by BeeBeeOoh(op): 1:18pm On Jul 09, 2016
For 24-year-old  Osas  Uwagie,  an indigene of Edo State and a tanker driver,  nothing more explains why he diverted a tanker loaded with 33 thousand litres of diesel than  bad  company. Osas who was said to have been recruited by a Lagos-based oil and gas firm (name withheld)  was en-route Abuja to supply the said products. He, however, diverted the tanker to Okene  in Kogi State,  where he sold 400 litres of diesel to one of his clients for N230,000 cash,  and the remaining 32, 600 litres sold to a filling station in  the same location  for N1.5 million which he was promised payment later.

Crime Guard gathered that after selling off the contents of the tanker,  Osas and his accomplices drove the tanker along the Abuja-Lokoja Road and set the tanker ablaze. It was learned that when the company could not locate Osas,  the matter was reported to the police at State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department,  Panti, Yaba  where investigations commenced into the matter. Subsequently, it paid off,  as Osas who had absconded was arrested in Kogi State.

‘I bribed policemen with N200,000 to let me go’

Narrating his own side of the story, Osas said, “I am from a very poor background. I could not go to school due to financial constraint.  When I grew up,  I had to find something to take care of myself. I met a friend who was a tanker driver and I started following him. He taught me how to drive tanker and I was absorbed in the same company where he works. “My friend is currently  in prison for also diverting a tanker.

He was the one who talked me into diverting the tanker as well as  selling off the contents. On the day of the incident,  I had loaded the tanker with 32,000 litres of diesel which I was supposed to supply to a filling station in Abuja. I, however, saw it as an opportunity to perfect the plan my friend in prison and I, had.

“I drove to Okene in Kogi State,  stopped at a particular location there and sold off 400 litres for N230,000. While I was driving out from the spot,  I was stopped by the police. They asked me a few questions for which I couldn’t give appropriate answers. They then started suspecting that I had diverted the tanker. I came out straight and told them the truth.

“I gave them N200,000 to let me go. Later, I contacted an old time friend called Kabiru to connect me to people who could buy all the products. Kabiru sent one of his boys called Joseph Kola to take me to a filling station where I could get a buyer. When I got there, the owner of the filling station asked why I wanted to sell the diesel and I told him that the management of the company I work with had authorized me to do so. The man then told us he didn’t have money to pay.

So, I instantly called Kabiru  who asked me to wait there, that he would send someone else to take me to another possible buyer. He sent one Oyeko who then took me to another filling station. We met with the owner and I told him I wanted to sell only 400 litres,  but the man insisted I sell the 32,600 litres to him. I saw reasons with him and decided to do as he said.”

Setting the truck ablaze

Osas continued: “Surprisingly,  after discharging the diesel,  they told me there was no cash on  ground  and requested I leave my account number, that they would get back to me. I then asked them what would happen to the truck and they  said it was best I set it ablaze and disappear. They asked me to follow them as they drove in front of me.  When we got to Abuja road,  they asked me to park the truck close to a drainage, so that it would look like it fell and the diesel poured out. They came out,  opened the bonnet of the tanker,  poured fuel on it and then sparked the battery head and fire engulfed the tanker.”

An anonymous source who spoke to Crime Guard intimated that Osas has worked with the company for more than two years and was even trained as a tanker driver by the company.  The tanker which was set ablaze, the source added, had just been acquired by the organization. The source also put the total cost of the diesel and the truck at about N22 million.

Politics › Delta Under Obligation To Account For 13% Derivation Funds- Court by BeeBeeOoh(op): 1:03pm On Jul 09, 2016
WARRI- A Delta State High Court sitting in Warri has declared that the State Government is under a legal obligation to render account of the 13 per cent derivation funds ‎collected from the Federation Account, under the Freedom of Information Act.

Trial judge, P.O Onajite Kuejubola (Mrs) made the declaration on Tuesday in Warri while delivering judgment in suit No W/377/2015, Olakunle Edun and three others vs Governor of Delta State and another. The suit was to compel the Delta state government to account for the 13 per cent derivation funds received from the Federation Account in view of alleged failure or non-existent infrastructures in Warri and other oil producing communities.

The court while refusing to grant some of the reliefs sought by the claimants granted the main reliefs ‎, among which were a declaration that by virtue of the provision of Section 1 (1) (3) 3 (1) of the Freedom of Act,2011, the defendant being a public officer, is under a legal obligation to provide the claimants with information requested as contained in the letter, dated September 15, 2015.

The court also granted the request for the government to ‎explain the constitutional basis for allowing only 50 per cent of the derivation funds from the federation account to the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC and retaining the remaining 50 per cent.

Other reliefs granted was a comprehensive account of how the other 50 per cent allowed to DESOPADEC had been utilized and list of projects utilized for and the total amount that has so far been paid to Delta state from the federation account to the date of commencement ‎of the DESOPADEC Law (August 1, 2006) and thereafter till date.

Politics › Buhari Did Not Promise Nigerians This Much- Oyegun by BeeBeeOoh(op):
The National Charmian of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Chief John Oyegun has insisted that the President, Muhammadu Buhari did not make a lot of promises to Nigerians.

Oyegun stated that Buhari only promised “security; he promised the people jobs”.

He added that: “He promised the people revitalisation of the economy and strongly promised the people the taming of corruption.

“A lot of things are under this and up till today, we still stand by this and we stand behind because these are the things he promised and he is determined to do them for the people”.

Oyegun continued: “The results are already showing all over the place. The President did not make too many promises. A lot of other things people are saying are neither here nor there; people are saying things he never said.

“Things like: he will make the Naira equivalent to the Dollar; he never said things like that but people just manufacture and read what they want to read into these issues.‎”
