Na wa o, this is just going to be another case of money changing hands, because the clamour to switch from analogue to digital has been going on for years now and nothing has been done about it

At this point, it’s looking like a personal vendetta against MultiChoice.
Some set of greedy old men who can’t handle business failure, trying to rip of someone else’s hard work.

It is well o
Career / Re: FG Rejects Plans By Multichoice To Sack Nigerian Workers by beeodun24: 3:30pm On Sep 01, 2020
I dont think any business is excited at the thought of reducing its staff strength or ending peoples means of livelihood but with the constant devaluation of the naira, increase in VAT amidst the economic meltdown COVID has caused, this is inevitable. Businesses are currently forced to slash salaries or initiate a work from home policy to stay afloat.
Price hike is unavoidable, especially for businesses whose product or content are not purchased in naira.

In some other places, where the furlough system was implemented, the government payed a certain percentage of private sector workers wages. We haven't seen our FG do any of that. They have absolutely no business in determining how a private business chooses to remain afloat, instead they should look for ways to help Nigerians that have been affected by the situation.
TV/Movies / Re: FG Asks Multichoice To Suspend DSTV, GOTV Price Increase by beeodun24: 10:59am On Aug 27, 2020
I’m here trying to understand if the FG that asked MultiChoice ( a private owned business)to suspend price increase due to the current pandemic, is also the same one that has raised VAT, approved increment in electricity tariffs, approved 100% increment in train fares on the Abuja-Kaduna route, approved FAAN hike in Passenger Service Charge by 100 % and 300%hike in yearly toll at the MMIA toll gate.

Lol...They must think we are a joke to them.

I honestly think the FG is just trying to take attention away from its failure in managing the country.

Hello

Please I need advice from all the experienced people here.

I submitted my online study permit application since May 29 2020 for resumption in September 3 and I haven’t gotten any response yet. Not even for medicals. I sent an email and I was informed that most VO’s are under staffed and the application will be processed in due time.

But the deadline for full tuition is 14 August.
This caused me to defer my admission to Jan 2021, which has been approved.

My issue now is, do I have to inform the VO of the deferral?
Will it have any negative effect on my application?
I’m very hopeful that it will end in praise but on the other hand if it doesn’t, is it advisable to reapply for another permit?

Thank you.
TV/Movies / Re: Dstv Slashes Cost Of Subscription Across Africa, Plans Increase In Nigeria by beeodun24: 3:03pm On May 31, 2020
I keep saying, that our anger is directed at the wrong party. The increase in DStv tariff, is as a result of the 2.5% hike in VAT by the government. MultiChoice took up the responsibility of paying this % on behalf of its subscribers for 4months just to avoid this same issue people are raising now. I didn’t seen any Nigerian business/company that didn’t implement the 7.5% VAT since February when it took effect.

The country is tough, and it’s taking its toll on businesses, so maybe we should also appeal to the government to revert back to 5% VAT rate, which we know will never happen.

The cost of food stuff have increased tremendously, does that mean we have stopped eating?
Please let’s be realistic. If you have a business that is beginning to suffer and the only solution is to review your cost, won’t you take that decision? At least, there are other options your customers can choose from.

However, the new bouquets in fairness to MultiChoice, were announced last year November. No one saw the world being in the situation it is now. If they did, they won’t spend an hefty sum in buying contents much less providing new bouquets.
And this new bouquets honestly offer more in terms of movies, news and general entertainment. I know this because they made available a two week test run in December for their subscribers.

Can they VO issue me a visa if my passport expires in less than a year. Thanks would appreciate inputs and suggestions. Thanks and stay safe.

Good Afternoon house,

Please I need your help with some questions.

I'm putting together my documents for a study permit to Canada for the second time
The issue is, my sister resides in Canada but she isn't my sponsor.
There have been several people telling me that I shouldn't include that information in my documents because it can reduce my chances of getting the study permit.
So basically, I just need advice on what to do? Should I include her or not? pls, bear in mind that I will be residing with her.
Also, If I'm to include her, should I indicate that in my statement of purpose?

The second question is the Family ties in Nigeria.
I have a sibling who can't speak or hear. Although, he doesn't depend on me but will that be considered a disability and is it strong enough to use as a tie back in Nigeria.

Thirdly, is the Letter of Explanation the same as the statement of purpose?
Is the Letter of Introduction(Employer) also the same as Letter of Recommendation?

All contributions are welcomed. Thank you.
