Tinubu can't continue living flamboyant and extravagant life while telling people to endure his inevitable policies that have brought people to their knee. He bought yacht , jet, bullet proof cars in less than two years in office. What kind of a father would eat chicken outside and tell his children to soak Garri at home. If he continue that way no one would trust him except his his followers who get their daily breads from him.

All of the country has seen PeterObi supporters complain nonstop about inflation. I've not seen a word from any of his supporter about what they would do-with removal of subsidy-to lower inflation or increase the buying power of all Nigerians, particularly the poor who are most negatively affected? Tell me to look it up and I'll know you don't know. Here's your chance, make a point, form a formidable political team that can resolve the damages -if there is any-done to the economy by Tinubu.

what do you understand by force of demand and supply? It sad Nigerians don't know what they want.
idahme:
This monarch is to learn more.

You don't want market union to fix prices but you are fixing prices grin

Allow forces of supply and demand to fix prices of foods and services, if you want to remove the excesses of the trade union do that but to start fixing prices when you aren't even a player in the demand d and supply value chain.

What happens to cultivating those essential products and flooding he market with it rather than fix prices that won't allow growers to make profit for their products?

Politics / Protest Goes South by Belawy(m): 12:51pm On Aug 10
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced on the day of his innuaguration
ceremony the removal of petroleum subsidy with immediate effect. One source
has it that subsidy was not included in 2023 budget by the previous
administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari. In fact, The former
President dodge this bullet by paying a special allowance called “Buhari Alert”
to the Federal Civil servant in 2023.
Despite the fact that Subsidy was not in 2023 budget, if that is the truth, Buhari
hid it such a way that the adverse effect did not get to the public except for
some fuel scarcity experienced in some parts of the country which was
immediately connect to flood that happened around that time-tankers could
not load at the loading bay.
Contrary to what was condition under General Muhammad Buhari, the effect
of subsidy removal got to the public like speed of light the moment President
Bola Ahmed Tinubu made the announcement. I did not watch the president
given his inauguration speech, I did not hear it on radio nor read it on social
media on the very day - it is being over a year that we had had “NEPA light”
in my community- but I feel the effect instantly as transport fare was
increased by 100% going to work the following day, Monday. It was in the
vehicle that the news was broken to me by my fellow commuters .
As we were transiting in the public vehicle, one “market woman” advise we
stock our home with foods. Though she was not able to articulate her point but
that was the best advise Nigeria could have ever had to temporarily dodge
removal of the subsidy-at least for sometime . I could vividly remember I did not
rate the woman statement thinking removal of subsidy is not declaration of war.
But time has proven the woman right, her prediction has come to because there is
hunger in the land and people suffered!
Someone once said we masses are the real problem to ourselves not government.
If I wont lie and as a lay man that I am, there is reason that statement. Come to
think of it, immediately Tinubu hinted the subsidy removal, filling stations shutdown(the few that were selling doubled the pumping price with the same old
stock), prices of commodities sky rocket, hoarding of commodities became order
of the day.
Our reactions to some government policies are always on the reverse and the
consequences always get back to us due our selfishness. During COVID-19
pandemic – the virus that changed the world system- we had to embrace spacing
to prevent the spread of the deadly virus. The spacing sporadically increased
cost of living, especially transportation-though some countries rolled out
incorruptible palliatives to their people. After the pandemic, spacing was
spontaneously cancelled but alas, cost of transportation did not reduce. That is
just an example out of many of how we take advantage of ourselves .
The subsidy removal has left no body untouched, even Politician. I stumbled on
a video showing our first lady working on her farm in the Aso-Rock, let say she
has always been involving in farming, but it is something she has never brought
to the public notice before until this challenging and difficult time. I read that
she eventually displayed her first harvest from the her farm t-that is one the
positive effects we expect from the policy change. In fact Buhari said he is happy
people are back to the farm.
In a nutshell, to call a spade a spade, there is hunger and insecurity in the land of
which the country has never experienced. Senator Adam Oshiomhole said in
an interview with Channel Tv that people has never had it easy under any
government in Nigeria. To corroborate this, all music of 70s and 80s I listened
to are lyrics of sufferings and hints of hunger in the land. You may want to
listen to some music of late Dr Sikiru Ayinde Barrister and late Omowura
talking about hardship of their time .Omowura often served as mouthpiece
for passing on government policies to the masses and was also a messenger of
the masses back to the government. Likewise it was, Dr Sikiru Ayinde
Barrister in one line of his Fuji Lyric “Omo se oyo kosi, so sati jeun”-meaning
you are only asked if you have eating not are you satisfied. But there is no
gainsaying to the fact the hunger in Nigeria is real and extraordinary and it is
due to subsidy removal.
People are voluntarily taking there lives because of the hardship and hunger in
the country. Someone told me he received a distress call from his mother that she
wanted to quit her marriage of over 42 years because of absolutely because of
hunger. A day before that , he quarrel with his wife about increment in feeding
allowance going forward. As at the time she was asking him, his salary for the
previous month is already exhausted and it is the 2nd day of the new month. He
found it difficult to inform the wife nothing left of the salary to foot the new
month feeding even at the existing rate because the salary has finished. The state
of economy is pathetic, discouraging and killing. The following week, same man
was called by his brother that his wife has left him abandoning all the children
they have together with him for the same reason , hunger. His mother-in-law
always beg him to send her money because things are very hard, that she has not
eating. It is absolutely suicidal for only one person to face these problems.
The hardship is very serious and it seems unabated , it is affecting many of us.
Stealing of company money is now very rampant, people are involving in various
fraud in order to meet up with their standard way of lives in this hardship. To
cope with life and avoid suicide, so many people have resulted to taking loan
from banks and loan sharks .In fact, using mine as example, I have taken loan
from the sharks and the banks, even the company where I currently work ,yet my
accounts are still zero and it is the beginning of the month.
As a result of this hardship up North and down South, the youth decided to
embark on #endbadgovernaceprotest , #hungerprotest etc etc. The youth are right
to embark on peaceful protest though the government vehemently rejected it and
device all means to stop it. The protest seem to have reduced and abated in the
South but still burning like wild fire in the North. I did not expect the protest to
measure the same meter in the South and North because Tinubu economics
policies affect the two region in similar way and the same time, in different ways .
For the North, the former governor of Ekiti State,Ayodele Fayose said that the
North do not control their child birth-I don’t know how true he is. Definitely, if the
north suffer from uncontrolled birth, the South lack agriculture and suffer food
insecurity.Again, fuel is not sold the same rate in both North and South because of
landing cost. How about feeding cultures between the two regions and the fear of
God.
Some Nigerian youths have begun to attack properties owned by political
leaders amid the ongoing nationwide protests against hardships and bad
governance in the country. youths were seen burning a mansion built by a
serving House of Representatives member, Nazifi Sani Gumel, representing
Gumel/Maigatari/Sule Tankarkar/Gagarawa Federal Constituency. There was
loss of lives in Borno, Jigawa, Kano, Kaduna and other states, the destruction of
public facilities in some states, and the wanton looting of supermarkets and
shops. On the path of government, A soldier with the Nigerian Army, on
Tuesday, shot dead a 16-year-old #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protester in the
Samaru community in Zaria, Kaduna State. APC chairman who took the message
of Tinubu’s achievement to kebbi constituency returned beaten to pulp: these
and other fateful events are consequences of the current protest and these are the
reasons I did not support protest in the first place because we are the one that
would suffer it in the end if the protest is hijacked by hoodlum and irate and
public property destroyed like #endsarsprotest.
Tell me who would not like to protest if called upon given the hunger we find
ourselves. Though government always point fingers at people for their
impatence. No one talk about the government officers living in affluence at the
detriment of tax payer. No one talk about over bloated cost of governance. No
need to unclog sewers to prevent flood, no need for education, no need for
welfare of the people, no one talk about the symbiotic corruption that has eaten
deeply into our fabrics.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his speech on 4th of August,2024 during the
protest remind and assured Nigerian of: the launched of our Compressed
Natural Gas Initiative (CNG) to power our transportation economy and bring
costs down, setting up the student loan scheme. Establishment of the Consumer
Credit Corporation with over N200billion to help Nigerians to acquire essential
products without the need for immediate cash payments, securing of
$620million under the Digital and Creative Enterprises (IDiCE), Skill-Up
Artisans Programme (SUPA); the Nigerian Youth Academy (NIYA); and the
National Youth Talent Export Programme (NATEP),Nano loan, Micro and
Small Business single-digit interest loans, increment of minimum wage to
N70,000 a month, incentives to farmers, launching the Renewed Hope Estates
in every state, each comprising 500 housing units. Hopefully these will get to
Nigerians and not be looted by politicians.
Like I said , this protest is still very hot in the north .Ethnic and tribe mongers
have tried reading meaning into that by saying Northerners never protested
during Yar Adua’s and Buhari’s regimes which obviously were northerners turns.
In fact, protest was ‘Haram’ during Buhari’s government, you dear not try it. The
ongoing #EndBadGovernance protest took a new turn as some young Nigerians,
particularly in the northern part of the country, were seen displaying the Russian
flag, a move the federal government has condemned as “treasonable” and an
attempt to calling for coup. According to one source, this is very hypocritical and
an attempt to truncate democracy currently headed by southerners which
suppose to last for eight year considering rotational presidency between the two
regions.
No matter the motive behind wavering of Russia Flag in the North, we should
not fold our hands watching the anarchy to thrive. According to Reginal Daniel,
the Billionaire wife, while replying her trolls, said whatever happens in the North
would definitely come down to the south- this is undiluted truth. My advise for
the youth at this time is to be patience and allow Tinubu to complete his first term
then vote out him if he contest for second time come 2027 if he is unable to
perform and if election would count. At least he wont say Nigerian did not give
him free hand to deliver .We should not result to violence using Kenya protest as
a template. Does election really count in Nigeria? This is a question begging for
answer. I not take to the street for demonstration, I may not card placard, but I am
a protester.
