Question to ask yourself - What’s most important to you, at the level you’re currently on? — Is it to build capacity (Aka experience)& hon your skills? — To make money? These two things can exist independently or collaboratively. Let me just say, the jobseekers that prioritize making money have invested heavily in their skills & experiences, and that’s why they can focus solely on what’s the best-paying job for their skill set. If you’re a junior-level staff member or an inexperienced graduate, you and that person are not on the same level! Collaborative stubbornness is nothing o, as our realities defer. Some of us can never go hungry even when jobless, while some of us know wetin eyes they face even with the salary we earn. No 2 person path is ever the same. So access your own reality, map out your career plan, and apply for roles that align even when the remuneration is not sufficient. The fact that you know what you want for your career path will give you the boldness to manage your expectations. Remember in the job market, your experience and skills are your currency. It’s trade by barter, so to be able to ask for the salary you want, make sure to ramp up as much experience in your preferred field through different ways. — Volunteer for roles (actually reach out to companies you’d love to work with and offer to intern, paid or unpaid) — Unpaid internships – as long as the terms are convenient for you and it aligns with your goals, build on it — Paid internships- this makes your learning process on the job worthwhile — Job shadowing – reach out to senior level managers, offer to assist them with their work, ask if they can make it official with their company See, if one job is not enough, take up more than 1. Within your mental & physical capacity. Essentially, do what works best for you with a sure career plan in mind, and don’t let any pressure get to you at all, if not you’d be in the Labour market 2–5 years down the line with low-level skills, jumping from one dead-end job to another still chasing stipends instead of rising to the top of your professional path.
