Here are some of the few things you would probably learn from nigerian movies apart from the fact that you can legally ellope with your beloved girl friend and her once naive parents would later come and beg you to forgive them and marry their daughter. The sad thing is that these principles are wrong. I said they are wrong becos things dont work that way in our modern world. Maybe they worked in the sixties, but no more now. Let's take a look at them:

1. THE RICH AND THE POOR CAN ASSOCIATE TOGETHER IN MARRIAGE UNION BY LOVE: You may have seen those movies where the girl or the boy (e.g INI EDO or MIKE EZURONYE) is the child of the Governor and is dying in love with a guy/girl (e.g D. ELLIOT or MERCY JOHNSON) from a humble background who didnt even attend a university education, that's what i'm talking about. The last time i learn't about such thing was in the SHAKESPARRIAN NOVELS. There is no such thing as that. The marked gap between the rich and the poor in our modern society is so wide that the so called rich considers poverty (anyting below their acceptable standard of living) as a contagious lethal sickness they cannot mess around with. There are many reasons why this point is valid.

2. WHEN YOU ARE SORROWING, YOU WIN THE COMPASSION OF PEOPLE, EVEN THE RICH: lie lie!
Have you seen those movies where one boy (CLEM OHAMEZE) lost his parents and he is the only child, his uncle has taken everything from him and drove him out of his father's house. Then he comes to the streets of ONITSHA to beg sorrowfully and people (YOU AND ME) are dashing him very fat sums of money. And by night he would just enter the GRA in one of estates and knoks on the gate of one wealthy man (PETE EDOCHIE) and then his wife (NGOZI EZEONU) comes out to check whether the gateman is still in his watch, suddenly she notices the peson knocking, and after a brief explanation of a sad story, she expresses some emotional touch of the story and decides to take him in to live with her. Pls if you knock on somebody's gate at odd times in the city they will lock you up. The truth is, people do not subscribe to sorrow, people subscribe to braveness. If they want to help you, they want to see that you have that gots in you to succeed. People that carry sorrow with them don't have gots. They are bedeviled by the feeling of the ugly circumstances surrounding them. Some children, after watching all these nigerian movies, would run away from their poor homes into the streets, looking for one rich man or the other that would take them in. that is a wrong ideology.

finally my brethren, if you meet these types of questions in any job interview, pls choose your answers as C for question 1 and C for question 2. this is because the ppl who kno better THINKS that those contained the answers to the questions. Remember, it's not being right that is important, but being wise! Good people do things right, but wise people do the right things.
You might have every good reason to disput with the answers, but even what all of us are giving as answers contraddict one anoda.
so as the OP of this post, i want to appreciate everyone who has contributed to dis post, especially @ kentinickole and eckersley. we have all learnt from you...even though we didnt all agree to one answer (i put dat blame on those who may have typed the questions and without being careful enough might have introuced one error or the other into the questions), we have all exercised deep level of learning.
i encourage you all to also watchout for more technical but well-constructed interesting past aptitude test questions, cos there is the chance to show us some skills you ve got.

Add 20%profit to the initial value then you get 120% of that value. Which is 120/100 = 1.2

I want to disagree with the OP concerning the purportedly right answer. In Kentnickole's answer when he was trying to find the unit cost, i.e 1kg, he divided by 5kg saying that's the price charged for 5kg. The question never mentioned 5kg, but 6kg. And we should take into cognizance the difference btw markup and profit margin. I STRONGLY stand by my answer being RIGHT except anyone or the OP can prove otherwise

Hello NairaLanders! I joined this platform few weeks ago, and this is exactly my first post.

As i surfed through the content of Nairaland, I was thrilled by both the quality and the quantity of information embbeded in it by you -landers. From my findings, much of the information i see here are credible. This i love very much, and wish to say that Nairaland, unlike the majority of gigantic online social media, is a home of REAL PEOPLE spreading and exchanging REAL INFORMATION.

So i decided to dedicate this my FIRST POST on nairaland in praise of the good job you guys have done on this platform. It will help new members rely on whatever information you guys have here as they go through this post.

So what do you think about this? What will you say about nairaland, nairalanders and the information you see here? How credible are they in your own judgement? Have you solved any problem in your life just with the help of information you got here, or with the help of someone you met here? Please do share in this post. It's nice being here!

but they chose to send their children to a public school like university of Ibadan. How can you account for that in terms of value? Definitely there is something they see in UI which they dnt see in HAVARD...and that is what is in their definition of value. Infact, if we talk abt value in terms of academic excellence, those schools cannot differentiate from most of the "average" schools because there are thousands of nigerian schools who produce students dat make A1 all through in their exams. so in order to differentiate, these schools decided to redefine VALUE to their own taste to soute their money-making venture.

so if u really wana kno hw relevant it is to have such schools, set a platform for comparison between them and our nigerian "average" school as some of us call them. And the platform should take a definite format: mention a specific value e.g MORAL DISCIPLINE (because to some parents this is even more a priority than academic excellence) and let us compare and see if there are no "average" Nigerian schools who produce students dat are more MORALLY DISCIPLINED than those students from the rich school.

First its not bad that parents send their children to these hyper expensive schools. it is he who knos the type of bird he wants to kill that chooses the weight of the pebble wit which to kill it.

also, its true dat dose schools have standards that are unmatched to average nigerian school. but this point have some comas. what is your definition of "average nigerian schools?". do you mean schools that dnt pay much or schools dat dnt offer much value?

i believe if we want to talk about value here we have to narrow it down to definte considerations. this will let us truely scrutinize which schools offer a better "value". i believe there is a conventional definition of VALUE which all schools have equal chances of offering irrespective of the amount they charge, and that VALUE is what is wat every EDUCATIONAL BODY expect from every school. However, if the term VALUE is define outside d context i just mention nw (educational context), that is probably where these schools will raise their shoulders high. The standard is that every school should be able to produce students who can demonstrate excellence in any examinition at their level set by any recognised exam body. However, these schools have gone to change the rules, giving parents more choices on the value to demand for when choosing a school for their wards.

In a nutshell, parents' choice of a school for their wards depends solely on their individual definition of value. I stand to say dat dose expensive schools mentioned are nt "better" than the so called "average" nigerian schools in ALL respect. when i was in secondary school, i had a lot of richmen children who came from Lagos to my school. those parents didnt send their wards to those expensive schools not because dey couldnt afford it, but their own definition of value was different. many parents could afford to send their ward to study in Havard and it will not shake their finance.
