In April2021, the Federal Government has approved the activation of new SIM card registration with mandatory NIN linking.

This was revealed in a statement signed on Thursday by Dr Femi Adeluyi, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy's Technical Assistant (Information Technology). According to him, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami, coordinated and led the implementation of a revised National Digital Identity Policy for SIM card registration in collaboration with all other stakeholders in accordance with Section 23(a) of the Nigerian Communications Act 2003.

The most recent development was found in President Muhammadu Buhari's approval of a revised National Digital Identity Policy for SIM Card Registration.

“Ownership of a National Identity number will be needed for each of these categories. Institutions will be expected to select a Telecoms Master (at a minimum of an Executive Management level) to provide operational Primary NIN representation for the Corporate registration.

Dr. Isa Pantami, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, said yesterday that the Federal Government will not abandon the verification of National Identity Numbers (NIN) and Subscriber Identification Modules (SIM) in order to combat the country's rising insecurity.“On the issue of NIN-SIM verification to combat insecurity, there is no turning back,” Pantami tweeted via his official Twitter handle @DrIsaPantami in response to a report linking him to a specific terror organization. Our priority as a country, according to Section 14(2)b of our constitution (as amended), is stability, not just economics.Without a doubt, there will be no turning back".

The minister, on the other hand, said that his anti-doctrine and anti-evil-doer lectures have been accessible for more than 15 years.“The lectures contain debates that put my life in jeopardy against a slew of Nigerian criminals.Get an impartial Hausa speaker to translate for you if you don't understand Hausa.”

He said that by the grace of God, no amount of warning would deter him from carrying out President Muhammadu Buhari's good security policies.

PoliticsHackers Gain Access To The JAMB Website And Steal Millions Of Naira by benja9999(op): 2:09am On Apr 16, 2021
The JAMB registrar revealed that the accounting department failed to identify the fraud because they did not cross-check the names on the accounts to ensure that they matched those listed on the website or who owned the codes.

He also revealed that the board's ad hoc workers had been charged, and he promised that the stolen money would be recovered.

While speaking to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, April13, the registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Ishaq Oloyede, revealed that some hackers obtained access to the board intranet site and allegedly diverted over N10m after altering the profiles of its ad hoc staff.

Oloyede clarified how the fraudsters obtained access to the profiles by using Key Logger, a program that allows access to the profile of someone who has logged in using a public cybercafé even after the individual has logged out and left. According to Oloyede, Zubairu removed the names and phone numbers of the original ad hoc workers and replaced them with his, and those affected include code numbers 313 and312, among others.

NOTE

Oloyede went on to say that payment into the accounts of the beneficiaries resulted in the diversion of funds, revealing that the board's ad hoc workers had since been compensated and assuring that the stolen money would be recovered.
