doctors vs johesu
when everybody in the health sector gang up against the doctor who supposedly head the hospital.
can't each profession fight their course alone.
abi, the doctor is a common enemy.
lab. scientists will do test and prescribe drugs.
pharmacists will see patients and prescribe medication.
who make the diagnosis.
Nigerian pharmacists are only interested in hospital pharmacy.
we are still packaging "paracetamol" from India.
when are we going to make ARVs.
the problems doctors have is that their job spread across all the other fields
microbiologist, haematologist & chem. pathologist (Drs) vs lab. scientists
pharmacologist (Dr) vs clinical pharmacists
ophthalmologists (Dr) vs optometrists
anesthesiologist (Dr) vs anaesthetic attendant/nurses
radiologists (Dr) vs radiographer
medical director (Dr) vs administrative staff
pathologist (Dr) vs mortuary staff.
some johesu members can actually be a consultant without much ado.
they should individually, for these collaboration will not work.
let the truth be told will any of the johesu member when pregnant allow herself to be scan by a "consultant" radiographer instead of a consultant radiologist.
what is now the specialisation.
if the pharmacists wants to be a consultant let them be.
they should not just be at logger head with a Dr.
what the doctors are afraid of is what happens : if a "junior" doctor (not a specialist) presscribe a medication will the consultant pharmacists not ALWAYS change the prescription
how do we manage patient time.
there are lots of time a Dr will prescribe drugs at a dose and the pharmacists who have not seen the patients will return the prescription in the name of errors. this has some merit and demerits.
also when there is litigation the doctor is blame esp in Nigeria. when other health workers are ready to accept part or all of this blame then they can become a consultant
this is a doctor perspective.
