https://brainerves.com/ Benjamin Button: The story of a man born old and died young (True story) "As a child, Daisy meets Benjamin Button who suffers from a rare ageing ailment wherein he ages backwards. They keep in touch as she gets older and he turns younger." A book with a seemingly fictional character was published in 1922 by F. Scott Fitzgerald. It was the story of a man born old who aged backwards and dies young. This was called ‘the curious case of Benjamin Button’. This became very popular at the production of the movie in 2008. Many had thought it was mere story that was never real, and of course the movie was based essentially on a fantasy that recreates the flavour of Forrest Gump. You may have to watch the film for it’s curious flavour, as we would only be talking about the disease as a reality of our time rather than fiction/fantasy. The disease Benjamin Button is commonly known as... https://brainerves.com/question/is-benjamin-button-ageing-backward-disease-in-the-curious-case-of-benjamin-button-real/#comment-167

The recent controversy has been around the hate speech and social media bill saga. What is it really about? Is it really to silence oppositions, the masses, or for political gain? Don’t get it twisted For purposes of clarity, it’s important to state that there are actually two bills out there agitating the minds of social media users in Nigeria at the moment. There is the ‘Hate Speech Bill’ and the ‘Social Media Bill’. Both bills are not one and the same, even though they have been conflated in discourses on the internet. The hate speech bill, otherwise called the ‘Prohibition of Hate Speech Bill’ is being championed by Sen. Sabi Abdullahi (APC, Deputy Chief Whip), while the social media bill, otherwise called the ‘Internet Falsehood and Manipulation Bill’ is the brainchild of Sen. Mohammed Sani Musa. (pulse.ng) We would really appreciate if thoughts are shared in the link below https://brainerves.com/question/what-is-the-hate-speech-and-social-media-really-bill-about/ Please help grow our new website by clicking and commenting in link above. We would love to have your views there. Thanks.

https://brainerves.com/ 1. The story of Titanic was written by Morgan Robertson in 1898 (14 years before the Titanic sank), It was titled The Wreck of the Titan. The story described a ship as being unsinkable, hence had few lifeboat for everyone on board. 2. The picture of the actual violin played on board the Titanic was recovered from the sea. The violin played by Wallace Hartley was thought to have been lost in the sinking, but in 2006, a woman found it in her attic. After seven years of testing, researchers determined that it was, in fact, the actual violin upon which Hartley famously played “Nearer, My God, to Thee” as the Titanic. 3. There are actually several versions of the hymn “Nearer, My God, to Thee,” each sung to a different tune. Wallace Hartley’s family insists he most likely instructed the band to play the “Propior Deo” version of the song linked above, as his father — who was a Methodist choirmaster — used that version at church. Here is the original version of “Nearer, My God, to Thee, (Propior Deo)” played in the Ship. https://brainerves.com/question/10-real-life-facts-about-titanic-movie/

Prolonged exposure to blue light, such as that which emanates from your phone, computer and household fixtures affects human longevity. Effects of daily exposure to phones and computers Using an electronic device – answering emails, listening to the news, looking at Facebooks — puts a lot of pressure on the *prefrontal cortex, the front of the brain. New research suggests that the blue wavelengths produced by light-emitting diodes damage cells in the brain as well as retinas. In a research led by Jaga Giebultowicz, examines how flies responded to daily 12-hour exposures to blue LED light, similar to the prevalent blue wavelength in devices like phones and tablets and found that the light accelerated aging. The flies exposed to blue light showed damage to their retinal cells and brain neurons and had impaired locomotion. The flies' ability to climb the walls of their enclosures, a common behavior, was diminished. https://www.brainerves.com How to care for someone who has been stabbed Getting stabbed is scary, terrifying and deadly in nature, but unfortunately, this happens sometimes even to good people. The goal of this post is to give a summary and simple tips on how to care for someone who has been stabbed. Do not attempt to run after the assailant for your own safety and do not panic. It might be difficult but its necessary to stay as calm as possible. Call the nearest medical health agency available immediately, for example 911. Lay the victim down in a best comfortable position, tilting the head up. Examine the wounds, check the depth and extent of injury. Check victims’ ABC (airway, breathing, and circulation). This includes checking the victim’s pulse, consciousness and listening to the heartbeat. If they are not breathing, the first thing to do is a CPR, to unsure the victim is breathing again, you can’t be treating someone already dead. If breathing, then remove the clothing over the stab wound and treat. Ensure you use clean materials to clean and treat wounds (Definitely avoid direct contact with victims blood if you have any open cuts, you want to be secured too). If its a deep and intense wound, apply direct pressure on the wound to lessen bleeding. If there is anything stuck in the wound like the weapon or any object, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REMOVE IT. After treating the wound, cover with sterile wool or bandage. Remember to apply pressure till the medical team arrives. What if you are the victim yourself? Remember to first call for help, but while you wait and hope, you have to be your own hero. Stay calm, and carefully follow the steps listed above. Most of the prevalent problems associated with education in the present are due to a common presumption about the students we teach. This is why the topic Improving Your Learning Skill is apt and timely. From my own experience as a student and later on as a formator, one fact that has become evident is that we presumed students know how to learn so we do not teach them how to. Teachers went through a great deal of training before they are certified as qualified to teach. The act of standing in front of a set of students, each of them different individuals from different homes, with different capabilities, interest and dreams, is taken seriously that one who would take up that role must be taught that teaching is different from just pouring out some set of principles to pupils. However, while we train teachers how to teach in various institutions of learning, we have forgotten that the students also need to learn how to learn. Yes, it is true that the entire life of a human person is centered on learning. Form learning how to walk to how to speak and eat, man’s life from birth to death can be described as a continuous effort to master the nuances of life and what it takes to be in it. It is for this reason that a human being is a student from the instance of conception to death. So, learning how to learn to important because you will always heave to learn something. https://brainerves.com/question/improving-your-learning-skill/ |
