izzou: It is a month, not a week. An error on my part.
I don't know how 30k, 70k a month is good for someone that works 6 days a week, from morning to evening. I mean, you spend all the productive hours of your life a month for 2,900 a day.
I would rather be a bus conductor, hawk Gala and Coke in traffic than do such a job... OK. Now I understand. Since it's a month, that's cruel. I agree with you, 70k or 30k a month is wickedness and you'd see all these millionaires at markets paying their staff such an inhumane amount. It always makes me sick to my stomach. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Beorn: 3:48pm On Jan 03, 2025 |
BlueRayDick: This job is not better than your friend's and I will tell u why.
Your friend definitely resumes 8am and closes 5pm (These are the official hours) , meaning she works 40 hours a week (i.e 8 hours daily x 5 days a week). She coming back leaving 5am and coming back 9pm is not peculiar to her; it happens to almost all workers who work on the Island and reside on the mainland or outskirts of Lagos.
Your friend works official 40 hours a week and gets paid close to 150k which is way over the minimum wage. If u notice, the job advert izzou reacted to carefully require that the candidates should stay within a particular axis. If anybody not staying within that axis applies, they will be worse off than ur friend because they will spend majority of the meagre 70k on transport fare and stay considerable hours in traffic like ur friend. There are roughly 4 weeks in a month. If the person lives far from the place of the said work & earns 280k in a month (70k per week), and spends 140k a month on tfare and feeding at workplace, he still has 140k with him. If my friend who earns 150k, spends 70k a month on feeding at work & commuting from mainland to island, can you see the guy on 240k a month is better off, though he works just an extra hour more than her? Edited: it's 70k a month. That's unfair. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Beorn: 3:18pm On Jan 03, 2025 |
BlueRayDick: Where did u see 70k x 4 weeks? 😏
The job simply says 50-70k salary meaning the person will earn between 50k and 70k for a whole month.
While 70k might seem fair for a job that does not require any tertiary education qualification like B.sc or HND, the work hours is actually not so cool.
A typical work hours as recognized by international.labor organization is 40hours per week ( i. e 8 hours daily x 5 working days in a week.)This job however requires u to work 54 hours a week (i. e 9 hours daily x 6 working days in a week). I believe that is what Izzou is reacting to. Paying minimum wage for a job that requires one to work 14 extra hours weekly is actually cheating but like u rightly said, Naija na shiiit hole. I didn't read the job description, I only saw Izzou's post, hence why I concluded from it. From the post it said the 70k was for a week, so when I times it by roughly 4 weeks that makes up a month, the amount is quiet reasonable. But, however, I didn't know the number of hours the person was supposed to work was that much. People work longer than that number of hours in Naija and still earn paltry sums at the end of the month. A friend of mine lives on the mainland & works on the island. The girl comes back roughly around 9pm on most days due to traffic depsite the office closing by 5pm and she leaves by 5:30am every day to meet up on time at work. She doesn't earn up to 150k a month. That offer is it not better than hers? |

Chineke, biko napu Ekwensu ike.. Bro, people earn 30k a month as sales girls (many or some of who are graduates) in many markets, and you think this is not a good offer in this shit hole of a country? In this harsh economy? 70k times 4 weeks, how many graduates earn the total amount in a month in this country? |

GracieX3: I gave you the reason for horror movies.
Not all movies (from different genres) make it to Nigerian cinemas. There are many reasons why a movie will not make Nigerian cinema-
1. If a movie is not released widely in America 2. If a movie has LGBT content 3. If the cinema owners feel like the movie won't sell well in Nigeria. I feel number 3 reason, and it's the reason I've given earlier, is the reason why horror genre don't make it to the cinema in Nigeria. How many Nigerian movie lovers even go to cinema to watch a movie let alone watch horror genre? The last time I saw a movie at the cinema, the room was littered with empty seats. We werent up to 30 in the cinema room and that was on a Sunday o. Things are very hard in this country so the cinema owners would always go for movies that would draw movie lovers to their cinemas and make them money and horror movies are movies Nigerians prefer to watch on high seas. Nigerians prefer to watch blockbuster movies & horror genres are hardly in that category. |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Beorn: 10:52am On Dec 28, 2024 |
GracieX3: Wrong. That is the reason. The cinema owners show movies according to the market (customers' taste). Most Nigerians aren't into horror movies. Thanks to religion and superstitious beliefs. Nigerian women especially. You can even ask our very own Ishilove. Movies like La La Land & Manchester By Sea that weren't shown in Nigerian cinemas, were they also horror genres? |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Beorn: 8:30am On Dec 28, 2024 |
GracieX3:

Can you imagine? Nosferatu will not probably show in Nigerian cinemas.
Of course, the typical superstitious average Nigerian will not see a pure horror movie. Thus, pure horror movies aren't popular demand in Nigeria.
Cc abduleez1 I don't think superstitions are the reasons why Nigerians don't see Hollywood horror movies, I just think it has to do with the fact that most Nigerians would prefer action movies genre in a cinema than the horror genre. The cinema owners are not helping either, they select movies to display based on a certain demographic of viewers and thus abandoning other genre which they think wouldn't fetch them money. |

Give Amorim a chance and back him with the right players and this team will cook.
Einstein said stupidity is doing the same thing all the time and expecting a different result.
I don't know what the future holds, but I admire the fact Amorim is bringing something different to the table and sticking with it.
If he succeeds in implementing his style, the team might finally get back to the old United we sorely miss. |

NaijaMemes: Imagine saying that a basic revenge anime with an overpowered MC, has a better plot that Arcane. Not only that, character building.
Arcane that almost all the main characters have gone through loss, failure an pain, which changed them.....
A simp will always be a simp sha. Dundee utd Even though I thoroughly enjoyed Blue Eye Samurai, I agree with you that it was a basic revenge story animation. It's very interesting but not on the levels of Arcane if we are to add other ingredients like story arc, character building, incredible VFX, better plot; in short, Arcane is heads and shoulders above BES. You'd gradually see the emotional processes most of them went through to get to the point they were.. |
