Yes, Laycon said those things because according to him, Erica told him to protect her from Kidd so she doesn't have sex on live TV. But I don't think Kiddwaya would find it funny if he gets to hear about the speech later on which Erica might even deny assuming she actually said that.

IMHO, Laycon might have had the best intentions for Erica, but he shouldn't have said those words out loud especially when Kidd wasn't high, it'd make Kidd look like a rapist.
