Ayo Fayose, Governor of Ekiti State, has slammed a N20 billion suit on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for placing him on a watchlist.

EFCC had requested that the Nigeria Customs Service place the Governor on a watchlist following allegations of fraud.

But, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Fayose said the EFCC action not only breached his constitutional immunity as a serving Governor but also exposed him to public ridicule.

A letter by Fayose's counsel, Obafemi Adewale, dated September 3, 2018, had given EFCC 72 hours to withdraw the request/directive to security agencies to place him on security watchlist and publish a written apology to all security agencies in Nigeria, three national newspapers and the social media.

However, the Governor has now filed a suit in an Abuja court following the failure of the commission to concede to his demands.

The statement, which was published on Tuesday, read: “It should be recalled that EFCC had tweeted on July 16, 2018 through its official twitter handle @officialEFCC concerning Governor Fayose that 'The parri is over, the cloak of immunity is torn apart and the staff broken, Ekiti Integrated Poultry/Biological Concepts Limited N1.3bn fraud case file dusted off the shelves. See you soon'.

“In the suit, Governor Fayose is seeking among other things; an order of the Court mandating the EFCC to pay the sum of N20 billion as general damages to the for what he called 'flagrant, deliberate, pre-meditated and reckless libel and unprovoked attack on his character and reputation and the breach of his constitutional right/immunity as an incumbent Governor'.

“He demanded that the EFCC should tender a written apology, which should be circulated to all security agencies in Nigeria and same should be published in at least three widely read national newspapers and through the social media.

“The Governor is also seeking a declaration that the statements contained in the EFCC letter dated September 12, 2018, and addressed to all security agencies in Nigeria portrayed him as a criminal, a fugitive and a run-away from the law, and that the statements are not true, are malicious, are not fair statements."

He wants the court to further declare: 'That the EFCC letter placing him on watch-list and directing his arrest on sight even while a sitting Governor is unconstitutional as same offends the clear provision of Section 308 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) which clothes the him with immunity against arrest and prosecution as an incumbent Governor.

“That the tweet by the Defendant (EFCC) through its official twitter handle, which was widely circulated through social media and published on Punch Newspaper (online) of 16th July, 2018, with the particulars wordings pleaded in the Statement of Claim filed along with this Writ is not true, is malicious, is not a fair statement and presents the Plaintiff as a fraudster thereby ridiculing him and reducing him in the eyes of reasonable and right-thinking members of the society.”

Pregnant woman have to bear unimaginable pain and difficulty to deliver a brand new life. Therefore, all of them should be loved and cared. However, this woman is not as lucky. The cruelness and violence of her husband almost make her loose her baby.
He had no mercy towards his wife or his baby.
The video shows a man beating his pregnant wife ruthlessly. Surrounding were many people, yet no one came forward to stop the abusing husband. The man's cruelty is scary enough, yet the silent and ignorant of people in the video is the most alarming.
The reason she was beaten so cruelly was that she couldn't prepare his meal on time. What did he expect? She is pregnant! Her feet are swollen, her stomach are aching and yet, she had to serve him like a maid?
She was weak due to her pregnancy. The wife couldn't react or fight back at all. She just sit there, with rains of punches and slap from her significant other for life. [b][/b]

Kottayam: Unable to bear the thrashing Argentina received at the hands of Croatia late on Thursday, a diehard Lionel Messi fan here has gone missing, leaving behind a suicide note saying he has nothing to look forward to now. A search operation is on.

A team of police divers and locals on Friday searched the Meenachil river that flows by Arumannoor near here.

Binu Alex, 30, who was last seen watching the FIFA World Cup match, according to his parents, has been missing from the house since 4am, a police officer, who did not want to be named, told IANS.

“A quick search revealed a suicide note in which he says he is leaving the world as he has nothing more to watch and see,” said the officer.

A close relative of Alex told IANS that he was a hardcore Messi fan and his mobile phone had a picture of Messi as the wallpaper.

“Yesterday, he purchased a T shirt like the one worn by Messi and sat down to watch the match. In the morning when his mother got up at 4am to prepare food for Alex, she saw that the back door of the kitchen was open and immediately called her husband.

“They then went to check on Alex and found that he was missing,” said the relative, adding that police was called then.

Police arrived with a sniffer dog who ran towards the river which is flowing in full spate on account of the rains in the past few days. Some divers searched in the water but failed to find the body.

Alex was unmarried and works as an accountant in a private company here.

My name is *Alfred Arientatcha Mrakpor* from Edjophe/ Otu-Jeremi in Ughelli south LGA of Delta state.

What is the *“next level?”*�����

The next level is when Delta State poultry farmers are taking advantage of and benefitting from the government’s agro-allied policies and reaping the honest reward of their hard work and investment. I will achieve this by pursuing the following strategic objectives:��������

�Democratize PAN such that the association is open to all farmers, thereby creating a level playing field for all categories of farmers: be it the small scale, medium scale or large scale farmer.

�If you elect me, encouraging farmers to acquire C of O for their landed properties shall be a corner stone objective of my chairmanship. As we all know C of O is a key requirement to access bank loans. I already have contacts and have formed strategic alliances with the relevant departments in government that can facilitate this process at very cheap rates. If elected as Chairman, I will make these contacts available to all Delta State PAN members.

�Forming cooperatives is another cornerstone objective of my chairmanship. I will encourage PAN members to form cooperatives to have the required credibility to access fund from state government.

�Another objective dear to my heart and which I will tackle with all the passion that it deserves is to encourage the training and education of Delta State PAN members. I am already in advanced consultations with experienced trainers from other regions of the country on how we in Delta State can also benefit.

�I will transform Delta State PAN into a strong voice for poultry farmers such that the Local government, State and Federal government will recognize and identify with the aspirations of Delta State PAN, for they will see us as strategic partners in solving the food crisis challenging our country.

�I am a firm believer in cooperative team work. So, I intend to work very closely with the National body of PAN on all issues that affect us. Maize and other ingredients required to produce poultry feed can be subsidized. I have ideas on how this can be achieved. I intend to share these ideas with the National body. This will help drop the cost of feed, stabilize prices across board for all our products – eggs, old layers and broilers with corresponding increase in our overall profit margin.

�Under my chairmanship, we shall work closely with the LGA chairmen for a consistent and downward review of all levies on our members across the state. A reduction of government levies will have a positive impact on our bottom lines.

�Under my chairmanship, PAN shall be a powerful voice to ensure that feed millers benefit from the Government Intervention Fund, and by extension encourage other companies to invest in our State.

�Under my chairmanship, we will ensure that the Government-owned Nigeria Agricultural Cooperative and Rural Development Bank (NACRDB) in Delta State become functional and support local farmers.

� We shall provide robust support to farmers to remain in business, so that no one is left behind.

�Embracing Innovative ICT to access information on diseases, market trend, breeding, nutrition, refrigeration, preservation, transportation and other poultry farming related issues shall be of high priority.

�We shall form strategic alliances with the medical team of various laboratories across the State to provide medical support to PAN members at low cost.

Great PAN members, the poultry subsector of the Nigerian economy is at a cross roads and is in dire need of aggressive, dynamic and clear-eyed leadership that will lead us to the promise land.

IBB, Abdulsalam and even Buhari who was accused of stealing billions of dollars as PTF boss were all saints. Why? Because they are Northerners.

It appears that plans for season three of BBC’s Atlantis have sunk. The TV show, which airs on BBC America here in the States, has been cancelled after two seasons.

On Atlantis, a young man named Jason (Jack Donnelly) goes in search of his long-missing father and ends up on the shores of ancient Atlantis. He’s befriended by a pair of unlucky locals — former prize fighter Hercules (Mark Addy) and intellectual Pythagoras (Robert Emms) — as well as a revered Oracle (Juliet Stevenson). Others in the cast include Sarah Parish, Aiysha Hart, and Jemima Rooper.

BBC announced the show’s cancellation this way: “The final seven episodes of Atlantis will transmit on BBC One in spring. We would like to thank Urban Myth Films and all the cast and crew but the series will not be re-commissioned. We are very proud of both series but to keep increasing the range of BBC One drama we have to make difficult decisions to bring new shows through.”

Six of the 13 episodes of season two have aired so far in the US. No word on when they’ll be released here.
