Your front and back bumpers, the headlamps, the side mirrors, the alloy rim, your boot door and even the front fenders with pointer light all indicates 98 to 2001 model at most. |

Justice Hussein Baba-Yusuf of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court sitting in Maitama, Abuja, on Monday, June 6, 2016 told off the counsel to a former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dazuki (retd.), J.B. Daudu, SAN, over his attempt to further stall the trial of Dasuki and four others. Dasuki( first defendant) alongside Shuaibu Salisu, a former Director of Finance and Administration, Office of the National Security Adviser; Aminu Babakusa, a former General Manager, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation; Acacia Holdings Limited and Reliance Referral Hospital Limited are being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on a 19-count charge bordering on money laundering and criminal breach of trust to the tune of N13, 570,000, 000.00( Thirteen Billion, Five Hundred and Seventy Million Naira). Daudu, who was represented by Adeola Adedipe at the last adjourned date, May 23, 2016, had urged the court to adjourn the trial of his client sine die on the grounds that the prosecution had frustrated the order of the court given on April 6, 2016 to provide adequate facility for him to be briefed by his client. Ruling on the matter, Justice Baba-Yusuf had consequently ordered that the first defendant be brought to the court premises during business hours between Monday and Friday to allow him brief his counsel. However, at the resumed hearing today, Daudu told the court that he was not ready to proceed with the trial. He told the court that he had filed a motion asking that the prosecution consolidate the charges involving the first defendant before Justice Baba-Yusuf and Justice Peter Afem of the FCT High Court. According to him, ‘‘It is unconstitutional to try the defendant over a similar matter before two different FCT High Courts.’’ Counsels to the other defendants also acknowledged receipt of the motion, but did not object to the commencement of the trial today. However, in his reaction, prosecuting counsel, Rotimi Jacobs, SAN, stated that it was not right for the court to hear the motion. Jacobs, who also confirmed receipt of the motion by the counsel to the first defendant, said: ‘‘There are other parties in the other suit that are put on notice. Those parties have not shown up (in court today) or served the motion. In fact, there is no date on the motion indicating when the other parties in the other suit should appear before your Lordship, even if they have been served. Their absence is understandable.’’ Quoting Section 396, Sub-section 1 and 2 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, Jacobs said counsel to the first defendant could file the motion, but the court would only decide on it at the end of the trial. Jacobs, who said Daudu had raised an issue over the validity of the charge before the court, further said that ‘‘the defendant has filed three objections with the intention to stall the trial and frustrate the day-to- day trial of the case. ‘‘After the court ordered at the last adjourned date that the first defendant be brought to court to brief his counsel, his counsel insisted that he was not going to have any meeting with his client, thereby showing that he is not interested in the commencement of the trial. ‘‘Though counsel to the first defendant is asking that the charges be consolidated, each matter will still retain its separate identity. ‘‘The prayer is self-defeating. Besides, the second file is not before this court. So, they should apply to the Chief Judge to transfer the other matter to this court. Or will my Lord decide on a matter that is not before him? ‘‘My Lord, I urge you to compel us to proceed with this trial. Enough of time wasting tactics by the first defendant.’’ Justice Baba-Yusuf, who was obviously miffed by Daudu’s argument, initially said he would go into the trial today. According to him, ‘‘You should go to the other court and ask that the case be struck out, since this case had first been filed before me. I am going into the trial today. ‘‘I have granted you enough respect. So, what you asking for is an insult on me. If you have a court where people dance to your music, go there. As the matter is, I will give the file to the Chief Judge for re-assignment...’’ At that point, Daudu interjected that he would not mind if the matter was re-assigned. Reacting to Daudu’s statement, Justice Baba-Yusuf further said: ‘‘People come to court with dishonest motive. I knew this was going to happen. This is what you do.’’ Counsel to the second defendant, Shuaibu Salisu, Akin Olujimi, SAN, pleaded with Justice Baba-Yusuf to adjourn the case to enable all parties involved ‘‘ to sort out things among ourselves.’’ Consequently, Justice Baba-Yusuf adjourned to June 15, 2016 for hearing on the motion filed by counsel to the defence counsel. http://saharareporters.com/2016/06/06/n135bn-arms-scam-judge-berates-dasuki%E2%80%99s-counsel

Please seize the derm money from those few privileged. |
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) yesterday shocked Nigerians when it blamed the continuous fall of naira in the foreign exchange market on moneybags in the country. The apex bank alleged that these moneybags are using about $20 billion in different domiciliary accounts to run the naira aground in the market. The apex bank said that the monies, which were lying idle in the various accounts, were not being projected for any investment purposes by their owners, but subtly being used to weaken the value of the naira and invariably increasing the value of the idle dollars. CBN’s Deputy Governor (Financial System Surveillance), Dr. Joseph Nnanna, made the revelation at an interactive session between the Ministries of Budget and National Planning, and Finance, CBN, Accountant General’s Office and major stakeholders on the 2016 budget. He said some privileged Nigerians were the masterminds of the consistent slide in the value of the naira, since according to him; they have been embarking on dollar speculation to the detriment of the Naira. He, however, said the passage of the 2016 budget would put a stop to the unrestrained drop in naira value, as according to him, the CBN would embark on aggressive liquidity mopup to enable the currency regain confidence. “The CBN will not sit down and watch the consistent fall of the naira. After the passage of the 2016 Budget, naira will begin to bounce back. Those who speculate on dollars will have their fingers burnt,” he vowed. Meanwhile, the National Assembly Joint Committee on Appropriation has said that the implementation of the N500 billion intervention fund contained in the 2016 budget proposal would not be feasible because there were no clear strategies for implementation. The Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriation, Senator Danjuma Goje, who made the assertion at the interactive session, said that though explanations were given by heads of ministries responsible for implementation of budget about the implementation strategy, they were not satisfactory and realistic. He said: “There is no detailed, clear cut structure being laid down for implementation of this project because what we have in this budget is N300 billion recurrent and N200 billion capital. “We had to push hard yesterday to get some details, which is not convincing. For instance, the explanation we got is that N5,000 will be given to one million Nigerians. “Who would choose the one million people? What structures do you have in place to make sure that you choose the right people? “You want to give money, N45,000 to about one million market women or thereabout and in my place, we do not have many market women, and how would you choose the market women to represent all interests? “We have not got clear explanations to these numerous issues surrounding the implementation of this money. Even the afternoon school feeding, contained in the budget, is not feasible because some students study under non-conducive environment. Will feeding them enhance their learning?” he queried. Goje said that while the National Assembly was in support of the programme, implementing it in 2016 might not be feasible, suggesting that the money be added to the budgetary allocation for sectors like power, transport and health while those responsible would map out better strategy for better implementation against 2017. “We are all happy with the programme and I am a party man to the core, but what needs to be done needs to be done very well. I think there is a need to do a greater work on implementation; otherwise this money will go down the drain. “We support this programme; we want Mr. President to succeed, we want our party to succeed. We want to continue to win elections, but we want the programme to be successful. “So, Mr. Minister, we want you to come up with workable implementation strategy. Otherwise, there are so many things that require attention in this country. “We would rather use this money to solve our problem, use this year to do very sound ground work for implementation so that the programme can take off next year,” he suggested. He further emphasised on the need for more budgetary allocation to be made to agricultural sector and solid minerals in view of the emphasis on diversification, saying, “we believe that N9 billion cannot diversify solid minerals and N43 billion cannot diversify agriculture.” Responding, the Minister of Budget and Planning, Senator Udoma Udoma, said the special intervention programme was a political commitment, which the present administration would not hesitate to fulfill. He promised to meet with relevant stakeholders to discuss on better strategies for the implementation. Speaking on diversification, the minister stated that the N9 billion budgetary allocation to solid minerals and N43 billion allocated to agriculture would help to create an enabling environment for private investment. He noted that the Federal Government did not have any intention of being an investor, adding that “all government does is to provide enabling environment and that is infrastructure. “The support from government does not depend on the amount of money expected if government wants to be major investor.” He also explained that the 2016 budget was zero based, stressing that it did not mean that there would not be ceiling as obtained in envelop system. He also said there would be a midterm review in the event that the $38 per barrel benchmark and provisions in the budget were not realisable. Also speaking at the session, the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, disclosed that the sum of N2.9 trillion had accrued to the Treasury Single Account (TSA) from the N2.2 trillion in February. She, however, said the total sum might not be used to fund the proposed N6.08 trillion budget because some part of it would be used as operating cost for key revenue generating agencies of the Federal Government. “The total volume of the TSA is now N2.9 trillion. But as the money comes, we cannot just mop it up to finance the 2016 budget. Some of the money coming from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and others into the account, for example, may be used to fund some of its projects,” she said.

I can’t chair your conference, IBB tells PDP FORMER military president, General Ibrahim Babangida, Tuesday dismissed insinuations that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was wooing him for 2019 presidential election as its candidate, saying that he has no such intention as he would clock 78 by 2019. Reacting to his appointment as Chairman of the proposed PDP National Conference slated for tomorrow, Babangida urged the PDP to count him out of the conference saying that he had quit partisan politics four years ago when he marked 70 years. He said he had friends in the PDP and the All Progressives Congress, APC and playing the expected role would amount to partisanship. General Babangida, in a statement he personally signed and tagged PDP Rebranding Conference: Count me out, said: “I wish to make some clarifications concerning the invitation extended to me on the scheduled PDP rebranding conference slated for November 12, 2015, aimed at repositioning the party after its poor outing at the last elections. “While I welcome the invitation to the event as a mark of respect as one of the founding fathers, I want to be excused on the grounds that I have long bid bye to partisan politics. |

A 32-year-old Los Angeles woman is claiming that she was impregnated by the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, and is now suing his estate. Kiera Johnson, the married mother of two, claims that she was raped by the ghost of Michael Jackson – and her white husband Ken Johnson is sticking by her side. Kiera claims she was watching the 2 hour Michael Jackson 30 Year Anniversary Special on DVD which aired on HBO in 2001 when she suddenly dozed off during the performance of Thriller. It was at that point, things went horribly wrong. “All of a sudden, I was awakened by a hand caressing my face. But I was home alone, my husband was at work,” Kiera recalls. “The next thing you know, I’m having this erotic encounter with Michael Jackson. But it wasn’t the white Michael Jackson, he was black, and dressed like he was straight out of the Thriller video. I told him to stop, but he would listen.” Kiera thought nothing more about the “realistic encounter” she had with M.J. – until September 25, 2015 when she gave birth to her third child. “Everything was going well with the birth,” said her husband Ken. “But then when I saw my son, and he was black, I said ‘What the hell is this!’ I was in absolute shock. That’s when Kiera told me about her terrifying dream. I think it’s wrong what happened and that’s why we are suing Michael Jackson’s estate. We just want a decent amount of child support to help raise his son.” Kiera insists she has never cheated on her husband Ken with anybody of any race. Ken says he believes his wife and has no reason to not trust her, she is his “queen.” The Johnsons say they are willing to accept an out-of-court negotiation and are giving the Jackson family until January 1, 2016 to respond. As of yet, the Jackson family has not responded publicly to the allegations. |
