Your lecturers cannot have a little bit of advance basics knowledge on programming and ask you to teach them... That is another lie...

Programming is universal.. once you have knowledge of one language then it's easy to transfer it to another language.. so if your lecturers have any knowledge of programming they won't need you to teach them anything in other languages...

Stop deceiving yourself.

Programming is very wide bro

An average Computer science can write basic programming languages that doesn't mean he or she is a software developer

The requirements of getting a Computer science job doesn't require you to have vast knowledge on programming...

I dint say my lecturer dint know programming, but what they knew wasn't up to something... or up to a stage they could get a job as a software developer...

What I knew then was like an addition to there own skills in programming... I'm not saying I trained them to be expert! But what I taught them could have cost lots of thousand of naira to acquire if they want to learn it in an IT school...

Universities will teach you deep skills if it is in their curriculum..

my friend in Ghana learnt programming in the university..

so what you will say is that Nigerian universities are using outdated curriculums..

You cannot teach lecturers programming because it is not in their scheme of work so that is a lie.

What can receptionists or front job really do for you? Highest they pay you 50k... that's not skilled job.

I'm not talking about Ghana, I hav studied outside Nigeria for masters after my degree in Nigeria and the practical training is way better than Nigeria.

Like I said, I have told many people this secret but they don't believe it but I no really mind... but it's the truth... A Computer lecturer is different from an IT skilled tutor... my lecturer have a little bit of advance basics knowledge on programming ... but it wasn't sound enough for them to use it for side hustle or use it to apply for proper IT jobs.

They saw my potential... and I taught them for some months... they even paid me... my lecturer paid me for my services even tho I dint want to collect it... but they did paid me

So because we have computers back in secondary schools and universities means you will learn to be a certified software developer or a random programmer…

Back in high school… they tot us basic computer knowledge… how to type and basic design on Corel draw… I can confidently tell you that’s not a skill… it’s just a basic training to help you with systems.. you can’t even earn with that

Back to the university…
We have massive computer labs… they teach you basic programming languages which focus more on HTML… that will equally not get you setup in tech word…

As a computer scientist… back in uni… me and other mates had to take a months off school to learn deep programming/designs for our career and we are confidently earning from that today…

I will tell you one secret but if you believe or not… it’s not my problem

When I return back to uni after months of training in programming/design… I resume back to school and I Taught 3 computer science lecturer what I learnt…

I was basically training 3 lecturer in my dept… don’t forget… I was just a student under dis people and I’m still training them…

How did it happen? School couldn’t give me what I wanted so I went outside school to source for it…

So I’m telling you now… no school will teach you deep skills especially in high school…


I’m not referring to other departments in case u want to bring other fields arguments into this…

Sorry bro… I wasn’t countering myself and I’m equally not a Gen Z… I was in early school over 3 decades ago and we don’t have resources for deep skill learning, even my little siblings that left high school over 13years ago wasn’t introduced to any serious basic skills….

I can confidently tell you I attended one of the top10 most expensive high school in Lagos at the time…

Maybe the new age school have Skills program for students? I don’t know!

I’m just saying based on my own experience

If you graduate from high school at 16

Then the next 3years should be for learning skills or digital skills before your age finally qualify you to seek admission

As a Computer scientist if I was introduced to digital Skills at my early age… by now me and Mark Zuckerberg would hav been working closely together..

I am seeking advice on relocating to either Germany or Canada at the beginning of next year. I currently work remotely as the sole UI/UX designer for a tech company in Nigeria. I am married and in my late 20s. The idea of relocating has been on my mind for a few months now, and I have seriously been considering leaving the country. I hold a degree in Electrical Engineering.

There's this school in my area that started in 2017 with a small bungalow. Before it was just a Nursery and primary school but as of today the building is already a 4 storey building because they now have both secondary school. From the look of this building you will know that its a disaster waiting to happen. There are visible cracks around the building which they always use plaster and paint to cover. I want to report it to the appropriate authority but I don't know how to do so.
