Upgrade in Nigeria context is facial/appearance it does change the fact that it is still the same year and same everything.

upgrade done by manufacturer is much more.
let's take the camry for example

a 2007 has 2.4L and 5spd auto

a 2010 has 2.5L and 6speed auto

when you change only bumper and headlamp and leave engine and gear, can we categorically say it's an upgrade.
Deep. Understood. Thanks alot

Yes the 07 had transmission issues, in 2013 and 14 it was over nairaland but the wahala Don reduce.

07 and 08 had the 2.4L i4 while the 2010 has 2.5L i4. I think you are better off with the 2.5L i4 2009 upwards.

Thanks for this. Also what's your opinion on upgraded Camry. I have seen 2007 Camry upgraded to 2010 and 2008 upgraded to 2011. What are the pros and cons of this, do we still classify such car as the year it was upgraded? Will upgrading classify it as a recent one? God bless.

If you are considering the inline 4, the 2010 Camry is your best bet. More powerful and much more reliable engine( 2.5L engine as against the 2.4) 6speed automatic compared to the 5 speed of the i4 of the 2009 and below. Better sound insulation.

For the V6 I would recommend 2009-up. To avoid the notable 3-4 shift flares of the 2007 models and also stick acceleration pedals.

Hello Stakeholders in Taxify and Uber,
We felt it would be a good idea if we have a forum where we can collectively address issues that affect us all in Taxify and Uber and other up coming taxi apps. Together we can effect positive change in the system as was evidenced last year. Now we need to work together as we are all in to make good money as the brand grows. Some of us are employees and do this part time while majority are in full time and do face challenges either from app, riders, law enforcement agencies, fuel prices, fraudulent riders and drivers. If we really need positive change in this time of several challenges in the country, then we have to seek for it.
A WhatsApp group link is below where we can click to join in so we can effectively help ourselves.

You may not need to introduce yourself when you are in. We want to challenge some status quo so we get value for our cars, fuel and energy while on these platforms. Nothing is freely gotten in this country.
Thank you

Hi nurey, please what can you say about Toyota Camry. Which one is best to go for between 2007/2008/2010 sport Edition. I saw one post where you said Camry 2007 has transmission issues. Kindly assist with your expert review. Also note that am a first time driver/car owner, so I dont want a troublesome car. Thank you.

The 2007 Toyota Camry has a 2.4l 4 cylinder or 3.5l v6, the 2.4l, though better (in terms of fuel economy) than the 3.5l v6, may also not be the best idea for e-hailing.
God bless for this info. However, am not looking at 2007 Camry 4 cylinder, Sport Edition for taxify but for personal use . What's your opinion on the car, general review .
Are you also into selling of registered cars?
Thanks a bunch

Car Talk / Re: Documents Needed When Buying A Used Car by Bigsteveg(m): 3:45am On Jan 11, 2019
nurey:
1. custom documents fully stamped and check whether all things correspond like name and model of car, VIN and all payments were made. Mostly like 6 or more papers could be photocopy if multiple cars were cleared by one dealer but make sure it is a clear crisp document not faded crap and don't take the nobody will ask you for customer paper crap, it could spell doom or stolen vehicle.

2. CMR (computerized motor registration) original copy

3. Current insurance (original copy)

4. Vehicle licence (original copy)

5. Road worthiness certificate (original copy)

6. Plate number allocation (original copy)

7. Original proof of ownership fully stamped

8. You will collect two printed and signed documents
a. Change of ownership document
b. Receipt of purchase from previous owner

There are some other documents you may need like
1. Tinted permit doc
2. police report/doc of change of ownership/plate number/engine number (which we call vin)

make sure you see the change of ownership letter given to the buyer duly signed when he first bought it as Nigerian used except the car was bought as tokunbo then you may not need this.

Once the car doesn't have custom doc except it's a beetle and the documents have expired years ago, I suggest you stay away from such ride.

Nice, will get back to you shortly. How can i contact you via whats app or mail? Thanks

Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by Bigsteveg(m): 11:32am On Jan 09, 2019
nnetayo:
So I thought today would be the day I'd come here to finally share my story as a beneficiary of this thread for such a long time, but alas it was not to be sad
But I've decided to share this story still *long post alert*

I had my first visa appointment in September to go and have my 2ND baby in the US (I had my first over 6 yrs ago in the UK. The pregnancy was high risk and I needed to get out ASAP at the time and since I had a valid British visa, I decided to go to the UK immediately. I had my baby, paid all my bills and been back in the UK many times since then)
We had planned to travel to the US this Christmas for vacation but 10 days after we submitted our application(tourism), I found out I was pregnant (after over 6 years) so we decided that since our interview was about a month away, we would do the needful and let the consular officer know of our intention.

I wanted to have the baby in Houston since I have a lot of family there so I swung into action and started to do my research. Because my pregnancy is high risk (yet again) it was difficult to get a doctor that would accept me but with the help of the zocdoc app, I eventually found one and established correspondence. Fast forward to our interview in September, I was upfront with the consular officer and told him that even though I had initially planned to go on Xmas vacation, I now intend to go and have the baby in US. He said, even though he was aware the baby would arrive next year, he would like for us to reflect more money in our accounts and reapply. He denied us bases on that so
we took his advise and left.

Fast forward to today, we had our interview this morning. Please see transcript below:

VO: Good morning, passports please
DH and I: Good Morning (hands over passports, we were also with our son who was tired from the long queue)
He then took his time to go through the computer (please note that in the new DS160 form, I chose B2 for myself and B1/B2 for DH and son. We also mentioned our conversation with the last consular officer, mentioned that we had our son in the UK, had investments we would be liquidating to demonstrate our financial capacity)
VO: Why have you applied to go the US today ma'am
Me: I'm currently pregnant and would be travelling to have my baby
VO: Where do you work and what do you do for them
Me: I work with xxxx bank and I'm responsible for this, this, this and that across the group and our subsidiaries
He asks DH the same question and he answers
VO: How long have you worked for this organisation
DH: 11 years
VO: Have you travelled out of the country before
Me: Yes. Schooled in the UK, Been to Germany as well
DH: UK and US
VO: Any correspondence from the doctor, budget sheet and statements?
Me: I hand them over and tell him to read from bottom up (the correspondence shows where the doctor is willing to accept me as a high risk patient, our willingness to pay some money upfront and the doctor's response to only receive payment after I've gotten my visa)
VO: Looks through the letter and all the statements. (Our budget was over 5m. Hubby's savings had over 6m, dorm account over $2, 500, I had close to 2m in investment with a letter to the embassy notifying that I had access to the money within 48 hours of notice and Hubby had treasily bill statement indicating over 10m)
VO: Starts typing for a really long time and gives us the blue paper with "I'm sorry you do not qualify for a visa at this time"

I've been so devastated as I had rehearsed over and over again how I was going to share my success story here. I was planning to travel 2nd week in February. Hubby thinks we should try again, this time just me and then himself and my son can apply afterwards.
I'm honestly confused. Don't know if I'd get a date ASAP. I've made a resolve to just have the baby here, but my family thinks I should try again.
Your story is heartbreaking, but did the VO indicate why he/she denied you and you family?
