Car TalkRe: Honda CRV Fuel Economy by BigUnclewriters: 9:50am On Dec 26, 2024
Sorry I had to resurrect this.

I have a CRV 03 and it's doing about 4km per liter. I changed the O2 sensors, fixed the air intake but no improvement. No check engine light. The car has had high consumption since I got it. Just took me some time to notice.

Structuralman:
Your CRV should do 8.5 km per litre. But you are doing 3.5 to 5km per litre.
Has your car always been doing this when you bought it?
Did you do any fixes to your car and then later notice it's consuming too much fuel?
Finally scan the car and post the results here for proper diagnosis.

Yeah. The engine was changed. New one is still a 2.4L. Reached out to Honda josh. Hopefully he can sort me out

Thank you for your help

P.s: helpful notes are still appreciated
nurey:
The code is for the upstream sensor the one b4 the catalyst. Your VIN number inputted in a Honda vin decoder will tell you exactly the engine in the vehicle provided it has not been changed b4
Car TalkRe: 02 Sensor For Honda CRV 03 In Lagos by BigUnclewriters(op): 5:23pm On Dec 06, 2024
Ok. So my engine is a 2.4L. A Honda CRV 03 EX. Maybe I am getting this all wrong. Will try the website you provided

The code I got is
P0134 “Oxygen Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected (Bank 1, Sensor 1).

nurey:
This is what i am saying, the part number for your CRV is specific, CRV of that year has two petrol engines K2.4A1 and K20 which are 2.4L and 2.0L and both sensors would be different on each engines. The particular part number you sent is for CRV RD4 and RD5 and from my research, RD4 is fWD 2.0L while RD5 is 2.0L AWD for both manual and Automatic.

your needed part number for upstream no 15 in the pix (b4 catalyst) and down stream no 16 in the pix (on the catalyst) is in the pix below. Also when you scanned what was the code the vehicle generated lets know what you need to replace. I use hondapartsnow to get my part number b4 i enter market looking for it.
Car TalkRe: 02 Sensor For Honda CRV 03 In Lagos by BigUnclewriters(op): 4:20pm On Dec 06, 2024
Did some research and found that the part number is Denso 234-9005

Find attached the snap of the carton of the one I got
nurey:
Catalyst has nothing to do with fuel economy.

I believe you need AF sensor as upstream is AF sensor, downstream is oxygen sensor.

No matter the make the part number remains same shouldn't change at all china or USA. For your catalyst you can buy spacer for the O2 sensor which will fix p0420 code. But without getting the AF sensor and Oxygen sensor right, your mpg will suffer. Carry the part number to oyingbo or contact Honda josh on NL to help you

Thank you. Will do this and update

Haven't thought of that. Could the fuel injector cause the code?

2cribz:
If the code doesn't go,then you have a leak in your exhaust pipe.might be a tiny leak which will lead to abnormal high fuel consumption. Also have u serviced your injectors, ultrasonic way
Car TalkRe: 02 Sensor For Honda CRV 03 In Lagos by BigUnclewriters(op): 2:50pm On Dec 06, 2024
Thing is, when I go to the market the product number is different from what I got online. They say it's because the online is denso while the ones they sale are china, as u said.

Bought a brand new one but no improvement. Code is still there. Someone says I should replace the catalyst (there is none presently) that it may be the problem. Do you agree?

And what can I do about the mismatched product number?

Do you have a plug in Lagos?
nurey:
Stop buying used sensor. Also Honda sensors are engine specific grin if you buy O2 sensor meant for 05 and 06 CRV, it won't work for your 03 even though they look alike.

First check the engine you have if it's 2.0 or 2.4 then google the specific part number for your sensor, that's what you will take to market to buy replacement, those things cost 50k plus a piece currently for China and 200k for OEM from USA
Car Talk02 Sensor For Honda CRV 03 In Lagos by BigUnclewriters(op): 7:41pm On Nov 16, 2024
Please I need upstream O2 sensor for my Honda CRV 03. I have tried changing it a couple of times but it doesn't work, as the code goes away for a few minutes and returns after driving a few miles. Meanwhile my car is consuming so much fuel

Please any credible plug in the house?

Please, I bought a honda CRV 03 Nigerian used. It was fine at first then it started consuming a lot of fuel recently.

On checking the codes, it gave - P0134 - O2 sensor circuit No activity detected (bank 1 sensor 1).
P1077 - Air manifold intake valve

I have tried fixing this with 2 different mechanics now to no avail. The O2 sensor in particular has been changed repeatedly without any solution.

Please help me
