FG Set To Enforce Use Of Made-In-Nigeria IT Products
http://www.leadership.ng/nga/articles/23995/2012/05/08/fg_set_enforce_use_madeinnigeria_it_products.html

The Federal Government through the National Information Technology Development Agency (Nitda), a parastatal of the Ministry of Communication Technology is set to enforce the use of Made-in-Nigeria IT products by government ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).

Mr. Inye Kemabonta, Director, Standards and Regulation, Nitda said the agency was working through the National Technical Committee (NTC) on IT Standards to ensure that made-in-Nigeria IT products meet global standards and that Nigerians would have no more excuse not to patronise made-in Nigeria products.

The committee would also consolidate the Nitda campaign for Nigerians to buy made-in-Nigeria products in IT and provide the enabling framework for the development of the indigenous IT sector. The NTC was established by Nitda as a specialised organ for IT standards development in the country. The Minister for Communication Technology, Mrs. Omobola Johnson inaugurated the committee in November last year.

To this end, Nitda would next week in Lagos hold an IT stakeholder workshop for the purpose of fine-tuning draft standards and guidelines for made- in- Nigeria IT hardware products. The Director-General of Nitda, Prof Cleopas Angaye, is expected to use the occasion of the workshop to remind the MDAs that the Federal Government mandatory policy which requires the public sector to procure low-end Nigerian IT products is still in force.

Nitda has created an Online Public Complaints Platform to track any disregard for the policy and to monitor compliance to minimum standards by product manufacturers in accordance with section 6 of the NITDA Act of 2007. Recently, government announced a plan to establish a N1 billion Software Innovation Fund to fast-track the development of made-in-Nigeria software by the youths. The fund commenced with seed money from the government.

Angaye had during the final review of the draft policy on software development in November 2011 said Nigeria could earn about $6 billion from software if properly harnessed especially as the software industry is not a capital intensive sector, noting that ICT has been accepted globally as a major tool for sustainable socio-economic development, he said software was the engine for this powerful tool.

“It is however disheartening to observe that these investments have been mostly on imported software. A recent disclosure by the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP) shows that Nigeria loses about $1 billion annually to software importation. Whereas Nigeria software industry is potentially a $6 billion industry and could surpass revenue from the oil industry,” Angaye said.

FG TO INCREASE ELECTRICITY TARIFF BY JUNE 1ST,2012.

Nigerians in trouble,Another increase in the tariff of poor electricity service. The Federal Govt, through the PHCN have concluded Plans to increase the electricity Tariff by June 1st, 2012. This is apart from their plan to stop the funding of Higher Institutions in the country, in addition to the already removed fuel subsidy which made the pric...e of petrol move from N65 to N97.

If you recall, the electricity tariff have been previously increased with no better service delivery from PHCN,yet the govt feel another increase would do.

How would the FG, through the PHCN increase the electricity tariff when there service keeps declining everyday? How did Nigeria gets here? I think we are paying for our wrong choice. get prepared President Jonathan said.

Bishop Idowu-Fearon Asks: Murder in the name of which God?

I have just returned from Maiduguri where I went to felicitate with the diocesan who was celebrating his 22nd year of consecration as well as having a thanksgiving service for a successful synod. The theme of the synod was…with God nothing is impossible” (Mt.19:26).

I had the privilege to give the message and in the message I made three points about the implications of the synod theme. It was also made clear to the congregation that the problem between Muslims and Christians in Nigeria is not about whether we worship the same God but who is worshipping the true God! The three religions we recognize in Africa and Nigeria all have similar teachings about this One God. Islam and Christianity in particular teach the following in their scriptures:

1. There is only One God, the One and only divine being (Mk.12:29); (Muhammad. 47:19).
2. God created everything that is not God(Gen.1:1); ( Al-Shura, 42:11)
3. God is radically different from everything that is not God (1 Tim.6:16); Al-An’am, 6:103).
4. God is good (1 Jn.4:16); ( Al-Buruj, 85:14).
5. God commands that we love God with our whole being (Matt.22:37); (Al-Zimar, 39:45).

6. God commands that we love our neighbours as ourselves(Matt.7:12); ( Hadith I.e. authentic sayings of Muhammad): None of you has faith until you love for your neighbours what you love for yourself. (Muslim).

For extremist leaders on both the Christian and Muslim sides, we suggest that they go through the document A Common Word: Muslims and Christians Loving God and Neighbour” (http://acommonword.com) and take the trouble to read the various comments from the two communities.

The world of Islam has moved on from that of the periods before the 21st century and it is in the interest of Christlike leaders to study the paradigm shift in Christian-Muslim relations, eschew the combative crusader spirit and embrace the spirit of dialogue.

We have a huge number of rational, well-informed and God-fearing leaders within the Muslim community as well as the Christian community, Nigerian religious leaders should please stop fanning the embers of hatred, bigotry and arrogance. It is driving both communities further and further apart and until the leaders learn from what is going on among rational and God fearing Christians and Muslims, extremists among us will continue to commit mass murder like what happened on Sunday, 29th, April 2012 on BUK campus to innocent men and women who chose to worship this One God as a Trinity.

A theological position shared by many Christians in the world over is that Christians who still share the Crusader spirit and a terrorist who shouts Allahu Akbar ( “God is the greatest”) as he pulls the fuse of the bomb strapped around his waist have something in common. They are naming God very differently, and yet they are, alas, worshipping the same god- a blood thirsty god of power, not the God of justice and mercy of the normative Christian and Muslim religious traditions (Volf, 2011:119).

It may interest Nigerians to note that Muslim religious leadership almost uniformly condemns terrorism: On religious and moral grounds, we denounce the contemporary concept of terrorism that is associated with wrongful practices, whatever their source and form may be. Such acts are represented by aggression against human life in an oppressive form that transgresses the rulings of God, frightening those who are secure, violating peaceful civilians, finishing off the wounded, and killing prisoners; and they employ unethical means, such as destroying buildings and ransacking cities: Do not kill the soul that God has made sacrosanct, save for justice( An-Aam. 6151). (http://ammanmessage.com/index.php?option[accessed May 1, 2012]. Nigerian religious leaders from both the Christian and Muslim communities must, as a matter of urgency get better informed so that Nigeria can move forward as one nation.

I have continued to speak out on the teachings we have had in the northern parts of Nigeria that all of us who worship this One God as a Trinity are dhimmi i.e. ‘protected citizens’. That means we do not share the same platform as our Muslim colleagues who worship this One God as a Unity! Because of the uninformed knowledge of a huge number of Muslims in the northern parts, the murder of a Christian is not seen as a murder but a so-called religious duty though the Qur’an forbids forceful conversion.

Those leaders who are informed should as a matter of urgency begin a massive programme of balanced teaching of the Qur’an and Hadith as well as contextualisation of Islam to a pluralistic society like Nigeria. On the Christian side, there is a lot of ignorance of the religion of Normative Islam. Christian leaders need to go back to school and learn a bit more about the struggles the early Church had with the Person of Jesus Christ and the development of the Trinitarian understanding of the Godhead.

Such leaders need to study Islam from the theological point of view, understand normative Islam and climb down their high horses so as to see the Muslim as one genuinely desiring to worship this One God as taught by his religion. The denigration of an entire religion, its civilisation and it’s adherents in the name of God is not Christlike and it is breeding a future generation of leaders who are intolerant, extremist and arrogant. No nation has ever survived and developed with this type of mindset, Nigeria cannot be an exception.

A Call on the Government to Act
On the side of the government, there is now an urgent call for decisiveness, this government should please, in the name of God, put a stop to the sin of impunity among politicians and religious bigots.

If bishop Fearon kills or maims anyone in the name of propagating the Christian faith, bishop Fearon should be treated as a murderer and not protected by his religious group and hailed as a religious leader. This is the only way to deter future murderers in our midst who put on the facade of religion. Killing innocent lives by any means is barbaric, inhuman and it should be called by its name-murder!

We are crying out and challenging this government to stop talking tough and start acting tough as allowed by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The killings of worshippers in mosques and churches is not acceptable, Nigerians love their religions and they desire freedom to worship this One God the way their scriptures enjoin them. It is the duty of any responsible government to give all it’s citizens a sense of security, sense of belonging and the freedom to worship this One God as provided for by their religious traditions and within the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The question Nigerian Christians and Muslims must Face:
I have dared to point out six teachings both faiths share vis-a-vis this One God. I am not about the question of salvation as taught by each faith but about our plural society and it’s need of peace and peaceful co-existence for even development. What both communities must do is to challenge each other on living out the teachings they both share about this One God. When it comes to practices, the fundamental issue is not whether Christians and Muslims worship the same God.

It is whether they both worship the true God. Deeds reveal which god we worship-the true God or a false god-better than words; and it matters little which god we profess to be worshipping. Our god is known by our fruits( Volf, 2011:117).when Christians and Muslims live out the teachings of their faith traditions faithfully, Nigerians will decide on who is worshipping the true God and who is not.( Isaiah. 58: 3-7; Baqarah. 2:177).

Nigerians- Christians and Muslims who believe in their scriptures have an opportunity now to live out what their scriptures enjoin them to do as a witness to those who call on the name of this One God but live a life that denies their belief in existence of this One God. In addition, religious leaders should learn from this wise saying: A Bishop is never more like Jesus like when he has his mouth shut ( Ignatius of Loyola, 1491-1556).

May the Lord give us the grace to live such a life as to bring glory to His name so that Nigeria can enjoy peace and peaceful coexistence in spite of our different ways of worshipping and serving this One God.

THE RASHIDI YEKINI IN ME

In 1994, i watched Rashidi Yekini as he banged goals, his style and position inspires me a lot that i immediately switched from playing in the middle of the field to the front.

I wished to be like him in front of the goal post TO SCORE GOALS AND SCARE GOAL KEEPERS, that is what the Rashidi Yekini in me desires most which i know would earn me the love from the people just like the real Rashidi. In my effort to do so, people noticed this resemblance between myself and Yekini and i was nicknamed Rashidi Yekini. Though,My father's name is Yekini, but i am not Rashidi, but i feel so proud to be associated with that name. Anywhere we have a game and the name Rashidi Yekini starts calling, people turn around to look who is it, i feel so important that i always want to deliver to meet up with the name i bear. DELIVERY ON TARGET.

After i stopped playing the game, the responsibility i learn through the name Rashidi Yekini is a key factor to my responsibility today, Rashidi is not only a model to me, but a builder whose glory keeps me responsible. It was sad to hear the news of his death, but what can i do? Nigeria has lost another asset and machine, responsible for building people's life to responsibility across the globe. I do not moan Rashidi even as he died young,he made his mark, contribute his part and left his foot for others to path. I instead celebrate the life and death of the great African hero who made Africans proud all over the world.

The message of Rashidi's death to the Nigerian youth is clear, You can do it no matter what. Even if there is no opportunity, you can create it. when there is no space, you find it,If there is no Job, you can Initiate it and if there is no support, you can produce it.

Rashidi is not just a footballer who revolutionized the game of football in Nigeria ,but a leadership builder, responsibility taker, motivator, goal getter, and a fellow who concur the world through his foot. His achievement through the foot, built others to take responsibility through leadership and creativity in others aspect of life and their chosen careers.

I sympathize with his Family, friends, fans, well wishers and those who stood by him in the trying times.

I pray that the soul of the GOAL KING rest in mercy, forgiveness and eternal peace.
PoliticsDangerous People We All Need To Fight In Nigeria by bilms(op): 10:41am On May 04, 2012
DANGEROUS PEOPLE WE ALL NEED TO FIGHT IN NIGERIA

The Nigerian youths are crying foul, telling the elders that they have failed. The elder on the other hand are claiming saint, saying the youths are not ready. The citizens are shouting that we have bad leaders, why some leaders have opined that they have bad follower ship. Who is right and who is wrong?

According to Mathama Gandhi of India, he talked about the seven blunders of life which is:
1.Wealth without work 2.Pleasure without conscience 3.Knowledge without character 4.Business without ethics 5.Science without humanity 6.Religion without sacrifice 7.Politics without principle.

Applying this to the Nigerian situation, Mr Olumide Adeyinka said:

Wealth without work= Nigerian Politicians
Pleasure without conscience= Nigerian Politicians
Knowledge without character= Nigerian religious Preachers/Politicians
Business without ethics= Nigerian businessmen/Politicians
Science without humanity= Nigerian Universities (Private ones)
Religion without sacrifice = Nigerian Religious Preachers
Politics without principle = Nigerian Religious Preachers

These are the seven dangerous people we all need to fight in Nigeria!

But i am of the opinion as follows:

Wealth without work= Nigerian Politicians/Citizens
Pleasure without conscience= Nigerian Politicians/Citizens
Knowledge without character= Nigerian religious Preachers/Politicians
Business without ethics= Nigerian businessmen/Politicians
Science without humanity= Nigerian Universities (Private ones)
Religion without sacrifice = Nigerian Religious Preachers/Citizens
Politics without principle = Nigerian Religious Preachers/Politician

In light of the foregoing, we as people must guide ourselves from becoming one of the above and ensure we overcome any person or group of people involved in any of it,be it a politicians,Religious preacher,Citizens etc. These would not only help us become better people, but it would help us overcome all our numerous challenges as a nation and prepare the youths for responsibility and genuine leadership.

Forgiveness in Islam.......
I greet you in the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate,Father of the day of Judgement. I'll be sharing with you all an article titled Forgiveness in Islam..

Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala has granted intellect to human beings. The intellect entails responsibility. The more intellect a person has the more he/she is responsible. When the intellect is missing, the responsibility is also not there. Little children are not held responsible, because their intellect has not yet developed. The insane are not responsible, because they have lost the intellectual capacity. However, part of our being human is also that we make mistakes. Sometime we make mistakes without deliberation and intention. But sometime we knowingly and deliberately sin and do wrong to others. It is said, “to err is human and to forgive is divine.” Both parts of this statement are very true. As human beings we are responsible, but we do also make mistakes and we are constantly in need of forgiveness. Islam speaks about two aspects of forgiveness: a) Allah’s forgiveness; b) Human forgiveness. We need both, because we do wrong in our relations to Allah as well as in our relations to each other.

A. Allah’s Forgiveness:

Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala is the most Forgiving. There are many names of Allah given in the Qur’an. Some of these names are related to His mercy and forgiveness. Let me mention some of these names:

Al-Ghafoor: The most Forgiving. This name occurs in the Qur’an more than seventy times. There are other names from the same root, such as Ghafir and Ghaffar. The meaning of the “ghafara” is to cover, to hide and from it comes the meaning “to excuse”, “to pardon”, “to remit” and “to forgive”. Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala does all these things. In the Qur’an, it is mentioned that Allah does not forgive the Shirk (without repentance) but He may forgive every other sin for whomsoever He wills. (al-Nisa’ 4:116) We must turn to Allah to seek His forgiveness.

Al-’Afuw: This has another aspect of forgiveness. This name occurs in the Qur’an five times. Literally the word ‘Afw means “to release” “to heal”, “to restore”, “to remit”. Thus in relation to Allah it means “to release us from the burden of punishment due to our sins and mistakes”, “to restore our honor after we have dishonored ourselves by committing sins and making mistakes.” Sometimes in the Qur’an both names: ‘Afuw and Ghafoor come together.

Al-Tawwab: The Acceptor of repentance. This name of Allah is mentioned in the Qur’an about 11 times. Allah accepts the repentance of those who sincerely repent and turn to him. The word “tawwab” gives the sense of “oft-returning” which means that Allah again and again accepts the repentance. We make sins and mistakes then we repent, He accepts our repentance. Then again we commit sins and make mistakes and when we repent, He again very kindly accept us and gives us another chance.

Al-Haleem: The Clement. This name is mentioned fifteen times in the Qur’an. This means that Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala is not quick to judgment. He gives time. He forebears and is patient to see His servant to return to Him.

Al-Rahman and al-Rahim: The most Merciful and Compassionate. These names are the most frequent in the Qur’an. Al-Rahman is mentioned 57 times and al-Raheem is mentioned 115 times. Al-Rahman indicates that Allah’s mercy is abundant and plenty and al-Raheem indicates that this is always the case with Allah. He is full of love and mercy and He is ever Merciful.

The Qur’an teaches that Allah is a Judge and He also punishes, but Allah is not bound to punish. The justice of Allah, according to Qur’an is that Allah does not and will not inflict undue punishment on any person. He will not ignore the good of any person. But if He wishes to forgive any sinner, He has full freedom to do that. His mercy is unlimited and His love is infinite.

There are many verses in the Qur’an and sayings of the Prophet -peace be upon him- on the love, mercy and forgiveness of Allah. In one of the prayers that the Prophet taught, he said, “O Allah, You are most Forgiving One, You love to forgive, so forgive me.”(reported by al-Trimidhi and Ibn Majah). We need Allah’s mercy and forgiveness all the time. It is wrong to assume at any time that one will find eternal salvation without the forgiveness of Allah.

B. Human Forgiveness in Islam:

Just as it is important to believe in the mercy and forgiveness of Allah, it is also necessary to base human relations on forgiveness. We cannot expect Allah’s forgiveness unless we also forgive those who do wrong to us. Forgiving each other, even forgiving one’s enemies is one of the most important Islamic teaching. In the Qur’an Allah has described the Believers as “those who avoid major sins and acts of indecencies and when they are angry they forgive.” (al-Shura 42:37) Later in the same Surah Allah says, “The reward of the evil is the evil thereof, but whosoever forgives and makes amends, his reward is upon Allah.” (al-Shura 42:40) In another place the Qur’an says, “If you punish, then punish with the like of that wherewith you were afflicted. But if you endure patiently, indeed it is better for the patient. Endure you patiently. Your patience is not except through the help of Allah (al-Nahl 16:126-127)

In one Hadith the Prophet -peace be upon him- said that Allah has commanded him about nine things. One of them he mentioned was “that I forgive those who do wrong to me.”

The Prophet -peace be upon him- was the most forgiving person. He was ever ready to forgive his enemies. When he went to Ta’if to preach the message of Allah, its people mistreated him. They abused him and hit him with stones.

He left the city humiliated and wounded. When he took shelter under a tree, the angel of Allah visited him and told him that Allah sent him to destroy the people of Ta’if because of their sin of mistreating their Prophet. The Prophet -peace be upon him- prayed to Allah to save the people of Taif, because what they did was out of their ignorance. He said, “O Allah, guide these people, because they did not know what they were doing.” When he entered the city of Makkah after the victory, the Prophet -peace be upon him- had in front of him some of his staunchest enemies. Those who fought him for many years, persecuted his followers and killed many of them. Now he had full power to do whatever he wanted to punish them for their crimes. It is reported that the Prophet -peace be upon him- asked them, “What do you think I shall do to you now?” They pleaded for mercy. The Prophet -peace be upon him- said, “Today I shall say to you what Joseph (referring to Prophet Yusuf -peace be upon him- as mentioned in the Qur’an, Yusuf 12:92) said to his brothers, ‘No blame on you today. Go, you are all free.” Soon they all came and accepted Islam at his hands. He forgave even Hind who had caused the murder of his uncle Hamza -may Allah be pleased with him. After killing him she had his body mutilated and chewed his liver. When she accepted Islam, the Prophet even forgave her.

A very striking example of forgiveness we find in the Qur’an in reference to the most unfortunate event of “Slander of Sayyidah A’isha’”. Some hypocrites of Madinah accused her. They tried to put dirt on her noble character. One of the slanderers turned out to be Mistah, the cousin of ‘Aisha’s father Abu Bakr’s. Abu Bakr -may Allah be pleased with him- used to give financial help to this young man. After he slandered his daughter, Abu Bakr vowed not to help him any more. But Allah reminded Abu Bakr and through him all the Believers, “Let not those among you who are endued with grace and amplitude of means resolve by oath against helping their kinsmen, those in want and those who migrated in the path of Allah. Let them forgive and overlook. Do you not wish that Allah should forgive you? Indeed Allah is oft-Forgiving, most Merciful.” (Al-Nur 24:22) Abu Bakr -may Allah be pleased with him- came out of his home and said, “Yes, indeed, I want Allah’s forgiveness. He not only continued to help him but he gave him more. Islam emphasizes justice and punishment of the wrong doers, but it equally strongly emphasizes mercy, kindness and love. Justice, law and order are necessary for the maintenance of a social order, but there is also a need for forgiveness to heal the wounds and to restore good relations between the people. We must keep in mind that as much as we need Allah’s forgiveness for our
own sins and mistakes, we must also practice forgiveness towards those who do wrong to us.
wishing you all Jum'ah Mubarak.

PoliticsCanada To Deport A Nigerians’ Hater, Kemi Omololu-olunloyo Back To Nigeria. by bilms(op): 10:59am On May 03, 2012
Toronto’s black community crime victim advocate Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo and her family are facing their biggest fight as they battle deportation from Canada.

Omololu-Olunloyo, 48, a mother of four sons who are U.S. citizens, is a long-time voice of grieving parents in the GTA whose sons were murdered by gunmen. She has helped struggling families cope and generate publicity that translated into tips that could help police.

“We have helped a lot of families and this is very frustrating,” Omololu-Olunloyo said from her Toronto home. “Nobody knows what will happen to us when we are deported to Nigeria.”

She and her son, Kayode Joshua (KJ), 11, have been packing their belongings for the trip home.

Omololu-Olunloyo said KJ ran away from home for several hours on Thursday and police had to called to help find him.

“He does not want to go back to Nigeria,” she said. “I know I will be killed when I return for what I have written against the government.”

Omololu-Olunloyo said some of her blogs and tweets have been against the government of Nigeria.

“I am a journalist and it will be only a matter of time before I am killed,” she said. “The government do not like people who ask a lot of questions.”

Omololu-Olunloyo arrived at Pearson airport from Nigeria, via the U.S., in 2007 with her children and filed unsuccessful refugee claims and subsequent appeals. She has to report on May 4 to a 6900 Airport Rd. office of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) to set a date for removal.

The CBSA, in documents, claim she is not at risk if she is removed from Canada.

The former U.S. green-card holder, publicist and journalist has been plagued by reports that she is sought on outstanding warrants in Georgia, a claim that she denies citing one court action that is being appealed.

Omololu-Olunloyo is well-known in Toronto for helping black parents who’ve had their sons murdered. She has held vigils for at least 17 slain youth.

“I have worked on at least 17 vigils in the past for young men who were murdered,” she said. “There have been seven suspects caught and there were two convictions.”

One of the first vigils she helped arrange was that of William “Junior” Appiah, 18, who was slain outside 4400 Jane St. in 2008. She has also helped the family of Jarvis St Remy, 18, who was killed at a bus stop in Dec. 2009, and Adrian Mitchell Johnston, 14, who was killed in a hydro field near Scarlett Rd. and St. Clair Ave. in 2009.

No date has been set for her removal from Canada.

A BIG TESTIMONY FROM JOSEPH EJIRO –

Guyz join me in thanking and praising, Baba GOD for His blessings αnd favor in my life . I tell you guys, its good to have
the fear of God at heart and to be honest.

... ... I Was coming home last tuesday evening after a hectic day and found a small bag on the ground. I opened it and
behold what I found inside; $20,000 dollars!! Fear first catch me, but I took the bag home and when ...I emptied It, I found
some Documents, ID card, ATM card and an Iphone.

I thought about throwing the sim away and keep the phone and also dispose the documents and keep the money. After
a long thought, I decided to leave things as they were, hoping that the owner would call. Not long after a call came through on the Iphone, I picked and talked with the caller. Apparently it was the owner of the bag coz he named absolutely every content of the bag.
We met afterwards and i handed him the bag. he offered me $2,000 dollars but I turned it down, he collected my
number and i left. Yesterday he called me and offered me a job at Chevron worth 750,000 Naira per month, a 3 bedroom
flat fully furnished, and a 2012 BMW X6.

As I was smiling and testing the car my sister just slapped me and said "Oya Oya Oya Wake up!! Eba don ready".

THE FUEL SUBSIDY PROTEST, DOES IT WORTH IT?

The time is now to critical assess the out come of the January fuel subsidy protest, some have argued that it was a success due to the fact that the FG reversed the fuel price from the initial N141 to N97, they also argued that it opened more room for education and awareness,it has give Nigerians the consciousness needed to raise up and demand for their rights. The effect of that mass action is still on going till now, which resulted to the current issue of subsidy probe, which the House of Representative have submitted their report for the president's consideration. During the protest, over 30 people were reportedly killed by the security personnel, yet the aim of the protest which was the reverse to N65 or nothing was not achieved. As i have noted then, any attempt to accept a shift in price would kill Nigerians, what i mean by that is simple, the Government would have a key to always nail the people when they needed to. They would stop the funding of various sectors without putting appropriate measures in place. of course they know the people would revolt, but after much hustle and protest, a slight change would be introduced and the people would be calm. It was evident when the FG through Pius Anyim said it would stop the funding of tertiary institutions in the country, asking the various institutions to generate fund on its own, this would automatically amount to higher school fee for the masses.

Point of note, There is nothing wrong in asking the institutions to source for fund on its own to run its affairs, but there should be a good avenue and enabling environment for that which should be assisted by the FG . Even in abroad, people who can't afford to pay their fee are given reasonable options in form of grant, scholarship etc. Watch out people, the funding of our institutions would stop soon and would you come out to protest again? after much protest by the students, they would of course give half funding and ask the school to generate the rest which would mean the students paying more. After the funding of tertiary institutions have been stopped, which sector will be next? Protest in mass and let some 30 people die for the Fg to reverse a little, How long would you protest when unfavorable policies are being made? why not look for others means of protesting rather than coming out in mass for the decision of one man? One man made the decision of removal of subsidy, million of people came out protesting for his action, over 30 people got killed and what next? Do you think the protest was a success? The FUEL SUBSIDY protest, does it worth it? lets reason. In my opinion, the only thing that could make a protest worth while is the accomplishment of the purpose of staging it,even at that, protest should be the last resort when there is no other option. Why should 30 people be dying for the decision of someone? and even after their death, what they were fighting for was not achieved. Is it not better for the Nigerian youths to come together and fashion out other better ways of demanding what is due? Just thinking.

WHEN WE AVOID TELLING THE TRUTH

If we avoid telling the truth, that is when the truth is missen. When we avoid telling the truth as it should be told,we are preventing progressiveness as we should progress. Many have said it times without number that, inefficient leadership is the major problem facing Nigeria, but i thinket not. What i consider the major problem holding us down is the lack of truth. If th...e leaders are truthful, they would lead truthfully and do good,if the followers are truthful, they would follow truthfully and support nothing but the truth, and if the religious clerics are truthful, they would preach truth in its purest form. But where is the truth in our leaders? where is the truth from the scholars? where is the truth from the followers or even from the so called youths? The leaders do not tell the followers the truth, any thing they say is a mere word to mislead the people and neither are the followers willing to listen to the truth when they are being told. People who tell the truth usually have less or no followers. The poor are not truthful to the rich and neither are the rich to the poor, men are not truthful to women neither are women willing to accept the truth. If we all can come out clean, the problems shall be over. Where are my fellow youths claiming to be ready, are you truthful in your struggle? Search yourself.

Come to think of it,the Nigerian refineries are said to be always bad, which resulted to the issue of subsidizing fuel. Why cant we maintain an ordinary refinery, yet the exploring equipment for oil never get faulty? Which of the 2 should be more easy to maintain? The exploration equipments ever from installations remain functional after 50years,serving the purpose of the govt, why is the refinery which should serve the purpose of people not functional.

A late night effort by the former governor of Kwara state, Bukola Saraki, to elude police interrogation has failed.

Yesterday, the Senator tried to dupe a Federal High Court judgeinto granting a temporary court injunction against police investigators by filing an exparte motion to prevent the police from arresting him to respond to charges that he directly benefited from a N21 billion bank loan fraud but the judge declined to grant an order of restraint.

However, Senator Saraki issued a statement claiming that an temporary injunction had been granted preventing the Special Fraud Unit of the Nigerian police from arresting and interrogating him over the bank loan fraud involving some of his aides and companies.

Saraki’s lawyer, Mr. Lawal Rabana, a senior advocate of Nigeria, had approached a Federal High Court in Abuja with an exparte motion application to obtain an interim injunction against the Nigerian police, the application sought to enforce the senator’s constitutional rights.

But the judge Justice Gladys Olotu of the Federal High Court, Abuja, refused to accept the ex-parte application and advised that the police be served with the motion on notice which was filed alongside the ex-parte application to enable the court hear both parties on the substantive motion slated for Thursday April 26th 2012.

A dubious press statement issued by Akin Fatogun, a media assistant to Mr. Saraki sought to mislead the public. The press statement read: “As a law-abiding citizen, Senator Saraki has decided to seek legal redress to put a end to what appears to be an orchestrated frenzy calculated at smearing his name, assaulting his dignity and intimidating his person through deliberately garbled accounts and serial leaks concerning loans granted to a company that he has no connection with.

“Senator Saraki is indeed in receipt of a letter from the Police Special Anti-Fraud Unit, Lagos, inviting him to assist its investigations of a case of conspiracy, forgery and stealing the sum of N21 billion belonging to Joy Petroleum Ltd.’

” Saraki has made it clear on many occasions that he has no relations with Joy Petroleum and wishes to so restate.

“While taking note of and displeased with the tendentious attempts to prosecute and persecute him on the pages of the media, Senator Saraki has asked the court to determine whether he could be invited by the police to assist in investigating a matter in which he is not linked and for which no specific allegation has been made against him.”

As soon as SaharaReporters received the press release we requested a scanned copy of court order but Mr. Saraki could provide any.

Last night, Mr. Saraki reportedly met the Inspector General of Police, MD Abubakar at his Maitama residence to plead with the police chief to stop the charges but sources said the SFU might press ahead with the charges as it briefed fiery Lagos lawyer, Femi Falana, to handle the case of prosecuting Saraki and deconstructing all the legal hurdles that may stand in the course of his prosecution.
