Presidency: Can Olawepo-Hashim Upstage Buhari, Atiku? - Independent Newspaper

Those who believe the forthcoming Presidential election is a two-horse race between President Muhammadu Buhari of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may be in for a surprise as Gbenga Olawepo- Hashim, presidential candidate of the People’s Trust( PT) is prepared to give the duo a run for their money.

Given his robust campaign so far, his manifesto and his wide acceptance amongst the youths and those looking for an alternative to the old order, many were surprised why Olawepo- Hashim’s name was not listed among the presidential candidates scheduled to take part in the debate scheduled for January 19.

Speaking with our correspondent, Usman Sheu, a chieftain of the PT and an ardent supporter of Olawepo- Hashim said he is unfazed by the development as the powers that be “are doing everything possible to blacklist Olawepo-Hashim so that he does not appear on the ballot”.

“ At first I was a bit surprised when the names of the candidates scheduled to participate in the debate was released and I saw names like Oby Ezekwesili , Fela Durotoye and Kingsley Moghalu but Olawepo- Hashim’s name was missing. But then I remembered that some powerful forces, for reasons best known to them have been trying to do all they can to prevent him from getting the ticket of any of the political parties”.

“We all saw what played out in the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN). He was only lucky to get the PT’s ticket and even till now, the attacks against him has not ceased. So, debate or not, his messages are getting to Nigerians and his profile keeps soaring every passing day” he said.

In June 2018, the influential Middle Belt Forum had shortlisted Olawepo- Hashim alongside former Minister of Information, Prof. Jerry Gana; former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, Dr. Obadiah Mailafia; and former Plateau State Governor, Senator Jonah Jang as their choice for the forthcoming presidential election.

Feelers from the region revealed that Olawepo- Hashim has been endorsed as the candidate of forum which is an important section in the determination of the nation’s presidency. The announcement will soon be made public.

Also in November 2018, groups of youths from the North endorsed Olawepo Hashim, as their preferred alternative to President Buhari and Atiku Abubakar.

Stating their reasons, National Coordinator of Matasan Arewa Na Dimokradiya (All Arewa Young Democrats), Samaila Garba Garri said they were perturbed by the choice of presidential candidates of the two major political parties, who have anything new to offer the country.

Garba said they were thrilled by remarks made by Olawepo-Hashim on the plight and future of Nigeria and Nigerians, because “he has the idea to make Nigeria a much better country than what it is presently if given a chance.”

“Mr. Olawepo-Hashim is a successful business man, who has always been with the poor. He has been engaged in philanthropic activities and hardly spends a day without putting smile on faces. From Hashim’s remarks on that occasion, we understood he knows so much about the Nigerian economy and how to improve it. He is knowledgeable about the Nigerian people, more than the sitting president and PDP’s flag bearer.

“We also see him as a third force to be reckoned with. He is a bridge builder since he has biological link with the North. We have no reason to forsake him. We have every reason to deny others our vote in 2019, because it would surely be a disappointment at the “next level” and the implementation of a selfish “policy document” he said.

Olawepo-Hashim’s trajectory in political activism began while at the School of Basic Studies where he was elected as General Secretary of the Anti-Apartheid Association, Youth Solidarity on Southern Africa. In 1988, he was elected one of the leaders of the very active National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS).

He was incarcerated under the Detention of Persons Decree 2 of 1984 (as amended in 1989) for his leadership role in the 1989 anti-Structural Adjustment Programme, SAP, protests and his pro-democracy activities. He was consequently adopted by the Amnesty International as a Prisoner of Conscience in 1989. A notable pro-democracy figure in the then Global Pro-Democracy resistance of the late 80s and a respected youth leadership voice from Africa, Olawepo-Hashim played a prominent role in the 13th International Festival of Youths and Students in 1989 in Pyongyang, North Korea.

In 1990, he became the national administrative secretary of the National Consultative Forum led by the indefatigable patriot and democrat extraordinaire, former president of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Mr. Alao Aka Bashorun.

The group had in its fold the technocratic group led by Alhaji Damshida, Chief Tayo Akpata and Chief Phillip Asiodu, among others. It also had a political group led by former Zikist activists such as Chief Kola Balogun, Chief RBK Okafor, Senator Mahmud Waziri and Alhaji Tanko Yakassai. The group was the first to canvass the imperative of power devolution and the convocation of national conference as a programme of democratisation of Nigeria under military rule.

Olawepo-Hashim, a graduate of Mass Communication from the University of Lagos and Masters Degree holder in Global Affairs from the University of Buckingham, United Kingdom, received mentoring into partisan politics under the progressive leadership of the late Chief Solomon Lar and the late Alhaji Abubakar Rimi; and, worked actively in the years of the G-34 initiative at the group’s secretariat where he was in charge of publicity.

Following Obasanjo’s election as president in 1999, he had, in the intervening transitional period, served as member/secretary, Youth and Women Development sub-committee of the General T.Y. Danjuma-led Policy Advisory Committee with the late Hajia Laila Dogonyaro as chair of the sub-committee.

In 2003, Olawepo-Hashim was appointed as a member of the Political Advisory Committee to the President (in the office of the Political Adviser.

Today, as the candidate of the Third Force movement, Olawepo-Hashim, born of a Yoruba mother and a Hausa father from Kebbi, has launched an audacious presidential enterprise on the PT platform with which, together with Nigerians of like-minds, he wants to galvanise national oppositional momentum against the APC and the PDP that had both failed, according to him, to provide good governance.

Speaking with Daily Independent on why he is seeking the highest office in the land, Olawepo- Hashim said “What we need now is a new generation of leaders. We no longer need the cabal anymore. We cannot accept a situation where we accommodate multiple pension-receiving individuals. I mean those who have been living on government expenses in ages. It is good to retire these people and the time to do that is now.”

“It is time to retire these people. It is time to retire them from politics and then drive Nigeria on the new part of creativity. My mission is to stop political recycling and we shall achieve this, by the Grace of God”.

“The nation certainly needs fresh ideas on how to develop the economy, unite and secure the country, which the political elites recycling themselves in power have not been able to offer. 2019 must be the breaking point from the legacy of poverty and misery which politicians represent”.

Also speaking on the raging insecurity in the country, Olawepo Hashim chided APC-led administration for failing to contain internal security breaches, promising that he would overhaul the security architecture to make Nigeria a safer place for all. According to him, “security is not just a question of spending bigger budgets; it is about having the right structures and strategies”.

“As it is, the armed forces is over-stressed and distracted by deployments for internal security operations. I think it is time for Nigeria to have a National Guard. I’m going to put up a National Guard as a President. My reasons and justifications are self-evident. Our internal security questions have graduated to the level of insurrection. We are now having well-trained militias, perhaps having more training than the police but probably, you may not need full scale military action to handle them.

“That is what a National Guard job is, an intermediate force between the regular armed forces and the police. Nigeria needs a well-trained intermediate force that is going to act between the Army and the police, which is the National Guard”.

Osinbajo, others using 2023 presidential ticket to divide the nation —Olawepo-Hashim

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Trust, Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has faulted Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and others who he accused of dangling 2023 presidential ticket as a political carrot.

He described the politicians in that category as “agents of ethnic balkanisation and political retrogression.”

According to a statement made available to journalists in Abuja on Sunday, Olawepo-Hashim spoke at a meeting in Lagos on Saturday.

He said the “increasing ethnicisation” of the February presidential election by high-ranking state officials was disturbing.

He said it was more alarming that Osinbajo was leading the “ethnicisation campaign.”

He wondered why the high office of Vice President should be dragged in the mud of tribal bigotry.

He said, “That reprehensible statement promising 2023 presidency to the South West should never have emanated from the Office of the Vice-President.

“That office transcends tribal thinking. The Presidency is and should be a rallying point for all Nigerians irrespective of tribes or religions.”

The presidential candidate said tribal campaign hinged on 2023 as a promissory note confirmed the shallowness of political discourse as issue-based campaigns have been jettisoned by the two mainstream political parties.

He added, “Nigerians have grown beyond this bigotry through inter-marriage, electoral endorsement and business union.

“As early as First Republic, the Tiv people elected a Kanuri man as their representative to the Northern House of Assembly.

In 1993, late Abiola beat Bashir Tofa in Kano. Today, so disappointing, some top leaders instead of building on our achievements in the area of national unity, are busy pushing to split and reopen old animosity and rancor among our people.”

Wondering why politics and campaign cannot be about higher ideals of national unity and prosperity, Olawepo-Hashim said the Presidency should be about merit, competence and passion to deliver on good governance.

“The Presidency must be about how further to unite the country, not how to divide it more.

“It must be about how to bring progress, not how to foster underdevelopment.

“It is not about ethnicity or religion but on what you have to offer the people and the state.

“Let those seeking re-election campaign on their records. Using state funds to curry votes through TraderMoni and other contraptions is very cheap and ridiculous.

“Let us focus on the realities of underdevelopment threatening our collective existence.

“For me and our party, we preach a Pan-Nigerian agenda as a modern state where citizenship is for individuals, not based on ethnic or religion.

“I will be a President of all Nigerians, regardless of their political, religious and tribal inclinations,” he said.

Those campaigning with 2023 are agents of retrogression – Olawepo-Hashim

PRESIDENTIAL Candidate of the People’s Trust, PT, Mr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has decried the raging campaign of calumny trailing campaigns for the 2019 elections and wondered why many politicians cannot make their campaigns issue-based.

The candidate expressed shock and dismay at the increasing ethnicisation of the February presidential race by high-ranking state officials and warned that the trend is an unwitting attempt at somalilisation of Nigerian politics.

Speaking in Lagos while hosting a brainstorming session on finding national consensus over the state of the nation, Olawepo-Hashim slammed those in high offices who are dangling the 2023 presidential ticket as a political carrot, describing them as “agents of ethnic balkanisation and political retrogression.”

Alerting the nation to the emerging deterioration of standard and norms in high offices, he said it is alarming that the vice-president of the nation was part of the ethnicisation campaign. While wooing voters in the South-West, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, penultimate week, said the zone would get the presidency in 2023, if it joined forces to get President Muhammadu Buhari re-elected.

He wondered why the high office of vice-president should be dragged in the mud of tribal bigotry. “That reprehensible statement promising 2023 presidency to the South-West should never have emanated from the Office of the Vice-President. That office transcends tribal thinking. The presidency is and should be a rallying point for all Nigerians irrespective of tribe or religion,” Olawepo-Hashim said.

He pointed out that tribal campaign hinged on 2023 as a promissory note confirmed the shallowness of political discourse as issue-based campaigns have been jettisoned by the two mainstream political parties, warning that “Nigerians have grown beyond this bigotry through inter-marriage, electoral endorsement and business union.’’ His words: “As early as the First Republic, the Tiv people elected a Kanuri man as their representative to the Northern House of Assembly.

In 1993, the late M.K.O Abiola beat Bashir Tofa in Kano. Today, so disappointedly, some top leaders instead of building on our achievements in the area of national unity are busy pushing to split and reopen old animosity and rancour among our people.’’ Wondering why politics and campaign cannot be about higher ideals of national unity and prosperity, the PT candidate affirmed that the presidency of Nigeria should be about merit, competence and passion to deliver on good governance, not the drumming of ethnic card or the promotion of tribal advantage.

“The Presidency must be about how further to unite the country not how to divide it more. It must be about how to bring progress, not how to foster under-development. It is not about ethnicity or religion but what you have to offer the people and the state. “Let those seeking re-election campaign on their records.

I will be a President of all Nigerians regardless of their political, religious or tribal inclinations,“ Olawepo-Hashim added.

2019: Olawepo-Hashim and third force

In this peace, Hassan Ibrahim describes the presidential candidate of the Peoples Trust (PT), Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, as a credible alternative to the flagbearers of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Mr. Olawepo-Hashim is a Global Energy Executive and founding Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He is one of the few Nigeria leaders who combine solid business record with strong political background.

A successful entrepreneur with a 26 years impeccable business history. He is chairman of Oilworld Ltd., operator of OPL 241 in the continental shelf of Nigeria as well as chairman Transnational Energy Limited. He is also chairman of Bresson AS. Limited, owners of the 90mw Magboro Independent Power Producing (IPP) project; amongst many business concerns locally and globally. Gbenga is generally acknowledged as principled and courageous.

Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim started exhibiting leadership qualities from elementary and secondary school days. There are many instances; In Cherubim and Seraphim College, he was appointed Health Prefect as well as elected President of the Dramatic Society. At the School of Basic Studies, he was elected General Secretary of the Anti-Apartheid Association, Youth Solidarity on Southern Africa. In 1988, he was elected one of the leaders of the very active National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS). He was incarcerated under the Detention of Persons Decree 2 of 1984 (as amended in 1989), as a result of his leadership role in 1989 Anti-SAP protests, and his Pro-Democracy activities. The Amnesty International adopted him Prisoner of conscience for Nigeria in 1989. He was also a notable Pro-Democracy figure in the then Global Pro-Democracy resistance of the late ‘80s and a respected Youth leadership voice from Africa. He played prominent role in the 13th International Festival of Youths and Students in 1989 in Pyong, North Korea.

In 1990, Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim became the National Administrative Secretary of the National Consultative Forum led by the indefatigable patriot and democrat extraordinaire, former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mr. Alao Aka Bashorun. The group had in its fold, the technocratic group led by AIhaji Danshida, Tayo Akpata, Philip Asiodu, etc. It also had a political group led by former Zikist activists, such as Chief KoIa Balogun and others like, Chief RBK Okafor, Mahmud Waziri and Alhaji Tanko Yakasai. The group was the first to raise the need for devolution of power and advocated for the convocation of a National conference as a programme of democratization of Nigeria under Military rule.

Born in Yelwa, Yauri, Kebbi State by a Yoruba mother to a Hausa father. Gbenga spent his early years in New-Bussa, Niger State and was raised in the family of his step-father. A Christian. He attended NEPA Junior Staff School, New Bussa; Cherubim and Seraphim College, Ilorin; School of Basic Studies, Ilorin; University of Lagos and University of Buckingham, United Kingdom, where he obtained a Masters Degree in Global Affairs and was best student in his cohort, securing the Max beloff Prize for Global Affairs, He was also the first student to obtain a distinction in the department course – History of the international Systems.

In a correspondence to Gbenga on the Max Beloff prize won, the chairman of the International Studies Degree Programmes, M.J.M, Crostie wrote, “It is always pleasant to dwell on success and you should make a point of mentioning the prize in your curriculum vitae because it is this sort of distinction that will set you apart from other candidates.” He has also received training at the International Human Resources Development Centre – Boston Massachuset United States.

Mentored into partisan politics by the progressive stock of politician led by the duo of Late Chief Solomon Lar and Alhajj Abubakar Rimi, Gbenga had onetime functioned as the National Publicity Secretary of the National Democratic Party, under the joint chairmanship of Ambassador Jolly Tanko Yusuf and Alhaji Yunusa Kaltungo. In 1998, working closely under the supervision of Professor Jerry Gana (Secretary), Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim and two other young political leaders; Late Senator Dahiru Ahwesu Khuta (Administration) and Dubem Onyia (Organization), helped in the years of the G-34 initiative for the formation of political parties at the group’s secretariat. Gbenga was responsible for the publicity beat.

After the election of President Olusegun Obasanjo in 1999, in the intervening transitional period, Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim served as member/Secretary Youth and Women Development Sub-Committee of the General T.Y. Danjuma Policy Advisory Committee with Late Hajia Laila Dogonyaro as chairman of the Youth and Women Subcommittee.

In 1999, Gbenga was elected as the first Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the then ruling Party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He was a highly influential national officer and became the founding chairman of the Group of 54 NEC members. The group had His Excellency, Dr. Chris Ngige as Secretary and Alhaji Ahmed Gusau, former Minister of Mines, as Deputy Chairman.

He was known for his commitment to the principle of internal democracy in the party, transparency and good governance. As a national officer, he spoke truth to power then at great risks.

Speaking of Olawepo-Hashim’s courage, deep patriotism, and selflessness; Late Chief Ojo Maduekwe, former Nigerian Foreign affairs Minister and Nigerian High Commissioner to Canada, said at a reception in 2005; “The lives of people like Gbenga should inspire us to speak well of ourselves. Gbenga is an inner driven person, not afraid to stand alone, not afraid to be unpopular, not afraid to hold a view. A man who is inner driven, listens to the music of his own universe, listens to the applause of the spirit inside that have etched out an horizon, which he must conquer and moving in that direction; he takes the lead and others follow. Who can see the horizon with him, of such is the stuff of history, of such is the stuff of greatness.”

He was appointed in 2003 as a member of the Political Advisory Committee to the President (In the office of the Political Advisor.) A national Bridge-Builder and complete detribalized, charismatic and excellent negotiator. Gbenga’s experience and deep roots in popular organizations and the broad political sphere will be useful in formulating a national consensus for Nigeria and Unity at a time of great division.

His understanding of political economy and the global architecture of international finance will also be invaluable for an economy that desperately needs growth and development and a people that urgently need prosperity.

Mr. Olawepo-Hashim has won many recognitions and honours including The Kwame Nkrumah African Leadership Award conferred by the continental student body – All African Student Union, at Accra Ghana in 2003; The Veteran Award-in 2005 by the International Union of Students and World Federation of Democratic Youths, (WFDY). PoliticsACF Receives Olawepo-hashim, Roots For Emergent Credible Leadership by bilms(op): 10:11am On Dec 27, 2018
ACF receives Olawepo-Hashim, roots for emergent credible leadership

he socio-cultural organisation of Northern groups, Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), has declared that despite being a non-partisan body, it would support the emergence of a credible presidential candidate that would promote peace, unity and development as well as the sustenance of the rule of law in Nigeria during the 2019 poll.

The Arewa leaders noted that although ACF would not openly canvass for support for any presidential candidate in the forthcoming poll, it would sensitise Nigerians on how to elect a credible candidate that could chart a sustainable path for development, peace, justice and the rule of law in the country.

The northern leaders made their stand known when they received the presidential candidate of Peoples Trust (TP), Mr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim alongside other members of the party at the ACF Secretariat in Kaduna on Sunday. They explained that Arewa elders have already concluded plans to sensitize Nigerians through enlightenment campaigns to educate the electorate on how to choose a credible president during the 2019 general election.

In his remarks during the visit, the Acting Chairman of ACF, Alhaji Musa Liman Kwande, stated: “Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), as you are aware, is a non-partisan, non-political, non-religious body devoid of any ethnic or tribal sentiments. Thus, its status as the foremost Northern socio-cultural organization which tries to promote peace, unity, justice and the rule of law, with the main thrust to promoting and protecting the interest and development of the north and its people, within the context of one indivisible nation, is not in question.

“In our non-partisan disposition, we do not align ourselves to any individual or political party. Rather, we strive to weigh the scale on what is good for the North in particular, and the overall good of the nation.”He told Olawepo-Hashim that it was well known that he has availed himself to contest for the office of the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2019, under the platform of People’s Trust (PT).

ACF, acting chairman added: “I feel quite enthused to acknowledge the emergence of new breed politicians like your humble self vying for the various elective offices in our nascent democratic dispensation which, by and large, has the potential to engender healthy political process as we strive to consolidate on the achievements recorded so far.

“As you are quite aware, Nigeria’s political and democratic terrain, at this moment in time, is fraught with negative underpinnings that we all must, as citizens and political actors, cultivate the will and courage to free our country from all that we see could militate against its progress and development in all ramifications.”

While stressing that Nigeria’s emergence in a multi-party democracy is a healthy development in the onerous task of nation building, the ACF chieftain stated: “It is therefore significant, under the prevailing situation in our nationhood, to witness quite a prolific array of political formations and platforms under which each and every Nigerian can have expression.

“We therefore welcome the emergence of political parties and your good self as the presidential candidate of one of the new parties, the Peoples Trust (PT). As we hold the belief that every aspirant to the office of president of our great country should have an articulate and thorough blueprint that will catapult the country to be among the comity of great nations.”

Further Kwande said very positive and pragmatic policies and measures should be put in place to fight against corruption, insecurity, impunity, anarchy and a host of other disingenuous activities, which if not effectively contained, would certainly be the bane of our progress and development as a people and one cohesive nation.

He said: “ACF therefore appeals to you leaders of various political parties to ensure that you live by the letters and spirit of the Abuja Peace Accord put up by the National Peace Committee under the former head of state, General Abdulsalam Abubakar (retd), which you all signed and pledged to uphold. We expect you to run issue-based campaign and refrain from all forms of incitement, be it religious, tribal or ethnic both by yourselves and all agents acting for or on your behalf.

“We urge you to seriously commit yourselves and your political parties to peaceful campaign and strict adherence to the Peace Accord.”The northern leader warned against political thuggery and rigging in the 2019 general election, saying, “As you are fully aware previous elections were marred by violence caused by the behaviour of some members of political parties and their supporters; we cannot afford to have a repeat of such in 2019.”

He appealed to the police and other security agencies involved in ensuring peaceful election to live above board and maintain neutrality in the performance of their assignments, just as he tasked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remain an impartial umpire in the conduct of the 2019 general election.

“Ensure that a fair level playing ground is provided to all political parties and their candidates,” he charged, “On our part, the forum has put in place a sensitization programme that will assist in enlightening the electorate on peaceful conduct during the election. This comprises Radio and TV jingles, suggestions to all Nigerians, pamphlet on electing credible and trusted politicians and adverts in the print media as our token contributions to peaceful conduct of election. We also call on other NGOs and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to join efforts in the sensitization campaign.”

In his response, the PT presidential candidate, Olawepo-Hashim, praised ACF for its contributions to politics and nation building and urged the Arewa leaders to continue to promote sustainable development in the country. He said he decided to visit and formally urge the leaders to support his candidature in the 2019 presidential election in order to overcome the misrule of the present administration, assuring that he would provide the much needed leadership to the turn country around.

The commemoration of the birth of Christ presents us with an opportunity to be our neighbours’ keeper, to show love to the less privileged in our society and to do more good to all around us.

In keeping with the teachings of Christ, I enjoin every Nigerian to foster peace and to draw from the example of Christ by providing shelter to those who can't afford to have one within this period.

As we celebrate, let us also remember the sacrifice of our men and women in uniform, who constantly put their life on the line to protect and preserve our Nation.

Let us remember those who have lost their life in the fight for our unity and lend a helping hand to the family they left behind.

This period also presents us with an opportunity to reflect on the great task that lies ahead as we go to the polls.

Let us be reminded that we have the opportunity to rewrite the history of our Nation by electing credible leaders who will protect and preserve our common patrimony.

Once again, I wish Nigerians a Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous new year.

We’ll build N4tn economy in 10 years, create 40m jobs – Hashim

Presidential candidate of People’s Trust Party, Mr. Gbenga Olawepo Hashim, has pledged to build a N4 trillion Nigerian economy that would create 40 million jobs in 10 years, if elected in the 2019 general elections.

Speaking during a courtesy visit to Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) yesterday in Kaduna, Gbenga said the capacity of Nigerian economy is too low to satisfy the yearnings of the people, while stating that the mission of his government, if found fit to rule, is to return Nigeria to its peaceful and united state pre independence.

According to him, there is need to return Nigeria to a peaceful, productive and creative entity that can cater for the needs of its people, where love will reign and devoid of hatred and violence. “Our challenge is how to build a bigger economy that would create jobs for the youth.

“Our vision is to build $4 trillion economy in the next 10 years to create 40 million jobs. There is over $78 trillion to be spent in the US on infrastructure alone. People don’t want to come to Nigeria to invest because of problems of doing business, multiple taxation and other challenges. We can attract 5% of global infrastructure fund which is about $4 trillion in the next 10 years.

“North is the biggest part of the country but we need to bring the smaller parts back to the country. There is too much hunger in the land due to insecurity and competition for resources. If North can be united, Nigeria will be united; if the North is peaceful, Nigeria will be peaceful because every tribe and religion are represented here.”

Acting Chairman of ACF, Alhaji Musa Liman Kwande said that ACF does not have a specific candidate and does not align with any political party.

He said what the Forum wants to see in presidential candidate is a genuine, positive and pragmatic policies to fight corruption, insecurity, anarchy and other disingenuous activities which had been the bane of the nation’s progress and development.

that is not a yardstick to determine the strength of our great party.
Omoyele Sowore is the rightful candidate
African Action Congress is the party!
What is the yardstick if i may ask? If your spread at the grassroots is not a yardstick, i would like to learn more from you.

Although, i am sure you know you are not being sincere, but i will give you the benefit of doubt.

For me, Hashim is our best chance to get this country working in 2019. Let's support him

It's not about Hashim alone, it's about all of them. Let them gain the trust of the entire populace first. Nigerian politics especially the presidency has a way it brings out the beast in humans. The present governor of my state was a MD for Mobil West Africa, amidst other great business leadership he held. When he became governor, the story changed though he wasn't entirely bad. Let Hashim and co build names for themselves in Nigerian political arena like Osinbanjo and Atiku have done.
I understand your perspective, which is logical, but the MD for Mobil West Africa is an employee of that company, who implement ideas passed down to him by others. He follows the direction of others to a significant extent, not follow his own imagination. So, he cannot be compared to the founder of a multinational company with investments in 4 continents of the world like Hashim.
