PoliticsI Will Provide For Igalas Infrastructures Wada, Ibro Failed To… – Gov Bello by binsanni(op): 9:42am On Nov 14, 2017
Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi has assured the Igala People of bringing development to the area through provision of critical infrastructures.

The Governor emphatically declared that he would provide for the people democratic dividends that they were denied during the fourteen years of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) administrations.

Ibrahim Idris and Idris Wada, all of Igala extraction, had ruled the state in succession for 14 years on the platform of the PDP.

Bello gave this assurance while attending to late Prince Abubakar Audu’s political support group, from Idah Federal Constituency, who were on a reconciliatory visit to the Governor’s Chief of Staff, Edward Onoja, at his residence in Lokoja on Sunday.

He said he would not disappoint the Igala people because the prayer of the Attah Igala, HRM, Michael Ameh Oboni II and the support of Igala people were part of what brought him to power as the governor of the state.

“I can’t disappoint him (Attah), by not serving Igala people. I’m here to serve all of you. What your brother could not provide for you, I’m here to provide,” he said.

He said the PDP government had the opportunity to develop the state and unite the people but decided to disunite them for selfish political gains, stressing that God brought him on board to unite the people of Kogi State irrespective of religious differences.

The Governor added that his government would do anything to cement the unity of all the ethnic groups in the state, saying that he would bring into his government people of good character, integrity and ability to serve.

“We won’t play politics of tribalism, religion and class differences. That is our core value. I don’t need to know you before you work with me. As far as you are ready to serve your people, you are generous, kind and show love to your people you are my brother,” he said.

He told the Audu’s group that their reconciliatory visit was a show of support for the development of the state, the people, APC, women, children and the downtrodden which God had sent him to salvage.

He reiterated that with the support of the people he would do anything within the best of his ability not to disappoint the trust that was reposed in him.

Bello lamented that there was little resources at his disposal, saying “we are trying to judiciously utilize the meager resources for everyone. It shall be fairly, equitably and justly.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Hon Amade Isah from Aloma in Ofu Local Government Area, assured the Governor of their support. He advised the Governor’s Chief of Staff, Hon Edward Onoja, that the Governor must hold tenaciously to the Audu political group because they were the ones that understand how grassroots politics in the eastern senatorial district is played.

The Idah Federal Constituency includes Idah, Igala-Mela, Ofu and Ibaji Local Government Areas.

The Chief of Staff, Onoja thanked the people for their support and reconciliatory efforts, saying he knew how some selfish people used propaganda to restrain the Audu group from reaping from the administration of Alhaji Bello whiech they all contributed to form.

“Thank God the wool evil men used to block our eyes has been removed. You are welcome to where you belong. We will work with you and re-engineer your support for the benefit of the state and the party,” he said.

By section 24 of the constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), it is the duty of every Nigerian to make positive and useful contributions to the advancement, progress and well-being of the community where he resides.

PoliticsAgain, Gov Bello To Extend Local Government Administrators' Tenure by binsanni(op): 11:43am On Nov 08, 2017
Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has requested the State House of Assembly to further extend the tenure of local government Administrator in the state.

This according to the governor in a letter sent to the hallowed chamber became necessary due to the paucity of funds which could not enable the state conduct Local Government polls.

The tenure of the local government transition committee had earlier expired on November 5.

Reading the letter on the floor of the House, Speaker Mathew Kolawole said that the governor had made the extension request to allow his administration include the council election in the 2018 Appropriation Bill. The house has scheduled Wednesday for further debate on the matter.

Meanwhile, the Executive Director Centre for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution (CHRCR) Idris Miliki Abdul has condemned the request of the governor to extend the tenure of local government administrator.

“You would recall that the tenure of the elected local government council came to an end on may 6 2016 and no Election have been conducted.

“With this request for another extension, when will elections to the local government council be conducted.”

CrimeRevealed:lukmans Death Was A Cover Up Must Read by binsanni(op): 11:33am On Nov 07, 2017
The celebrated killing of Isah Lukman, alleged to be a thug is bringing up more and more questions everyday. It is believed that he was killed to cover up atrocities of some persons in positions of power.

Before his death, Isah Lukman was said to have been a frontliner for the current government of the state and the local government.

Many of his contributions to this current administration could be traced down to areas which include;

1. Lukman was witnessed to have shared huge amount of money during the last gubernatorial election in the state. Especially in polling units while voting was going on.

2. Until his death, Lukman was in possession of the APC campaign bus which he always drive around Ihima with his gangs, alongside a Toyota Camry car, ash in colour.

3. Whenever the political appointees, especially the commissioner for water resources, travels to Ihima for tour, Lukman was always in the front together with security men leading the way. Making sure other youths are properly coordinated and ensure peace.

4. Lukman had a borehole dug in front of his house with water tank which was said to have been a compensation from the state government to him in recognition of his efforts.

5. Lukman was not left out during the last empowerment program by Sen. Ahmed Ogembe as he was handed over a Keke NAPEP tricycle which he sometimes ride around Obieba in Ihima.

6. At a time, Lukman was allegedly considered by the state government as the chief security overseer in Obieba where he lived and have his gangs because he always ensure order and peacefulness.

7. Lukman was always seen in the Kogi State government house and the Okehi Local Government secretariat alongside the political office holders, mixing with them and cheering them up.

8. He almost lived the life of a philanthropist by sharing money to widows, orphans and helping to engage some children into skill acquisitions. He did these out of the money he allegedly received from the local government and state political appointees.

The list can go on and on. But the questions are;

1. After all these, why would the state government claim being innocent of Lukman’s way of life by coming out to paint him black and call him all sorts of names after benefiting from his ruthless way of life?

2. If Lukman was a thug and notorious as they claimed, why did they harbour him for so long and why not an arrest instead of killing him? Where we have other more notorious thugs being arrested and interrogated in the past.

3. Why was the Kogi state commissioner of Police, Wilson Inalegwu transferred immediately after the incident happened alongside other Police officers who played some roles in the issue.

4. Who was responsible for all the benefits accrued to Lukman by the APC before his death? And what was the source of his money?

The public need to investigate this chameleon play on Isah Lukman who was used and killed as against all the claims.

PoliticsKogi Yahaya Bello Urges Security Agencies To Apprehend Killers Of Labour Leader by binsanni(op): 1:51pm On Nov 03, 2017
Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello, has condemned the gruesome murder of Chairman of Non Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, Science and Technology Education Board, Abdulmumini Yakubu and Ibrahim Otaru in Ozuwaya, in Okene Local Government.

In a statement issued in Lokoja on Thursday by his Special Adviser on security, Navy Cdr. Jerry Omodara (rtd), Bello described the killing of Yakubu and Otaru, who reportedly visited him to discuss some community issues, as a further proof of the culture of violence and the systemic decimation of law abiding citizens by the enemies of peace in the state.

Bello called on security agencies to rise to the occasion and apprehend the killers of Mr. Yakubu and his friend.

“It is lamentable that in spite of what we are doing to make Kogi State safe and secure, some bad eggs still take pride in the unenviable record of being one of the most violent in the country.”, the statement read.

“This latest gruesome murder of Mr. Yakubu has again confirmed the reign of politics of intolerance, banditry and assassinations which our government has sworn to wipe out,” the statement said.

The governor said the APC led government in the state was determined to fight against impunity to deter further crimes, uphold the rule of law and protect public trust in the justice system.

Bello described the late Abdulmumini Yakubu as ”an exceptionally brilliant, humble, forthright and focussed personality who spent almost his entire life for the good of humanity.”

“He was a dogged union leader who contributed immensely to the welfare of his members in the promotion of robust labour relations between his union and the state government as well as a trusted community leader who gave total support to governments war against bandits and hoodlums in Kogi central and the state at large.”

While reiterating his commitment to work with security agencies to unearth those behind the murder and bringing them to justice, Bello prayed that God will give the families of the deceased, the Organised Labour the fortitude to bear the loss, and grant eternal rest to the departed.

CultureOhinoyi Of Ebira Land Laments 30 Years Neglect Of Ajaokuta Steel Complex by binsanni(op): 11:49am On Nov 02, 2017
The Ohinoyi of Ebira Land in Kogi State, Dr Ado Ibrahim, has urged the Federal Government to revive the nation’s Ajaokuta Steel Company.

Vanguard reports that the Ohinoyi lamented the neglect of the company by past administrations, and disclosed this at the just concluded 2017 edition of the African Gems and Jewelry Exhibition and Seminar, AGJES, held in Abuja.

He stated that, ‘’it was sheer abandonment of the nation’s ‘engine room’ of industrialisation for massive job creation and economic prosperity over the years.’’

According to him, over 3, 000 workers were redundant with indescribable hardship for them and their families since the complex was abandoned. He said: “There is one thing the Minister said I am happy to hear and something which will give a golden name for your whole life and that is Ajaokuta Steel Company.

“Yes, I come from there as the paramount ruler and I have seen it on the floor for 30 years, whether dead or in comma. But from what you told me today, I think it was in comma and likely to come alive again.

‘’A project like Ajaokuta Steel Company for 30 years lying down not utilised, the nation is not ashamed of it? While expressing his passion for the sector the monarch urged the federal government to ensure that the company was revived, adding that he would remain grateful when the company comes on stream again.

“If you do this I will write your name first in bold golden letters that will be all over my domain.

“Let me make it clear that there is a great need for us to take serious steps against illegal mining in the country.

“We have to decry it because it demoralises the integrity of Nigerians, especially in the area of industrialisation.

“The Ministry of Interior should support the battle against illegal mining. If you want my support, I will give you my support. The largest illegal miner is still in my state, what is the Minister doing about it?’’

PoliticsUnpaid Salaries PDP Donates Bags Of Rice To Kogi Workers by binsanni(op): 1:56pm On Nov 01, 2017
The Kogi State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has concluded arrangement to send some bags of rice to help workers cushion the effects non-payment of salary in Kogi state.

The gesture is coming few days after some lawmakers in the National Assembly led by Senator Dino Melaye donated over 1200 bags rice to civil servants in the State.

PDP state publicity secretary, Mr Bode Ogunmola disclosed this in a statement made available to DAILYPOST on Saturday.

The opposition party while commiserating with the workers in the state and the immediate family of late Edward Soje, who recently committed suicide, described it as unfortunate.

In a condolence message to the family, the party said “Soje, a Director with the Teaching Service Commission, TSC, was victim of government’s policy of non-payment of salaries.

“It is sad that rather than admitting it’s cross failure and abysmal policy direction, government has elected to dance on Soje’s grave. In Africa we value life so much, that we refrain from speaking ill of the dead.

“The only thing his employers has done is to accuse him of falsifying his age and to arrogantly declare that Soje continue to receive his pay till December 2016.

“Whether Soje was owed 8 months as claimed by his employer or 11 months as reported in the media or even 21 months as is the case of many workers, the rock bottom truth is that he was frustrated and decided to end it all.

“We call on the Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration to put a human face on its policies and pay all workers their entitlements without further delays.

“Our fear is, there may be other Soje’s out there who may be planning to end it all because of lack of payment of salaries. Governor Bello should not allow this painful death to be in vain”.

Ogunmola advised civil servants not to contemplate suicide as a way of escaping the present economic challenges and cluelessness in the state.
