sauron i think we have moved from women to kids,
i believe in the not sparing the rod too,

the reality is that except u say ull be childless we all have to find ways to raise up kids in this world and bring them up with godly values.

so my question to u is do u really want the woman portrayed in the original post

PS my boys r playing oh we shd win this game grin although i know its prayer all the way

that guy has no drive
FamilyRe: Perfection - The Wonderful Life of A Good (naija) Wife by biolabee(m): 7:20pm On Oct 21, 2008
ok sauron i think u are getting it wrong
the modern world is not only about crack n heroine but also with things like the internet, more communication, trasport , better opportunities for 'mentally challenged' people, cure for polio,tb,etc, better access to healthcare unlike back in the day when people died like goats or were supposedly killed by the gods!

of course the world is also gettin more evil with corruption, immorality, violence and 'amorality' on the rise but men that is the world
remember the 60s,  the hippie generation. people said it couldnt get better but men,  our parents and us were born and raised but were we correupt? well maybe a little grin

what i said about kids is that they are not for the exhibition of the man like the kids in mary poppins but that fathers should step up and be actively involved in the life of the child like embracing ur child, talking to them and takin them out  not the olden days view that children should not be heard.
that is y some gals get involved too early with guys because of the need for a male figure in their life or some guys are just rebellious because of lack of approval from their dad.

Some widows did raise their kids but how many?
FamilyRe: Perfection - The Wonderful Life of A Good (naija) Wife by biolabee(m): 6:50pm On Oct 21, 2008
@sauron

no problem about backing her up. u are right divorce rate is higher now than then but it does not mean women then are happier than they are now.

i never said she was right or wrong but that i do not like the imagery in my head. id like to have a woman who is submissive and respects my family n all but will not take one who cannot raise up my kids in the modern world.

No one knows tomorrow but i know that if one dies before his time i will never be comfortable in the grave knowing my kids are being brought up by the kind of woman in the picture.

That is why some women are defrauded by business associates because they never knew anything about investing or their husbands assets.

im not for man bashing but i believe we should be fair to the women

Sauron

i am not a wuss.
i never said submission equated to stupidity
You are a bug wuss. . . . .

How does a submissive woman correlates to a woman with no mind of her own or who would lack initiatives??
Is this all your cognitive reasoning can cook up??

Cheese n Rice!!! I think u need to play some sudoku games to help activate your brain power.
What u typed above there is a classic trumpery.
based on the picture posted by our friend it talks about a 1955 woman which is not in touch with modern realities
i did not want to do this but i guess ill take it one by one

1. Have dinner ready for his return
2. Prepare yourself for 15 mins before he comes in. He jas been through a lot of work weary people.
3. Be a little gay and a little more interesting for him.
All this are very nice and good to have but in reality have no place in the modern working home where both parents ae breadwinners and come home late in the evening. just as the man has been thru crap so has the woman.
All this is just for the man. did anyone put anything to make the woman too feel better after a nasty day at work, all the way through traffic, thinking of her children?

4. Clear away the clutter.
5. Clear away the toys, etc
very good I agree. generally womenn are neat and organised so this should not be a problem. Note i said generally

6. Over the cooller months prepare and light a fire for him.
ok i guess

7. Prepare the children.Take time to wash the children's hands and faces. They are little treasures and he would like to see them playing the part.Minimise all noise of the kids, dryers, microwave!!!
This is the most annoying part. like the father is an exhibitionist and is just interested in how his children look and if they are presentable. for Gods sake this is not Mary Poppins. the modern man should take the extra steps, go to his childs room or see them at play and find out how they are doin and not be pleased by some window washed sparkled up kids.Issues such as budding sibling rivalries, sharing of things and fights are noted here and curbed and not some distant father who just shows up
This is why some boys today do not see eye to eye with their fathers because the relationship is not just there.
Are we in a concentration camp?
8.Be happy to see him
9.Greet him with a warm smile and show sincerity in your desire to please him
10.Listen to him
11.Make the evening his
At this point i think ive written enough.
The point is that a marriage is a 2 way thing and it is built up in this world on-the-go and there is no prescribed way to handle it as against our careers for which we go to schools/institutions to learn.
No way is perfect but fair is fair.;just as all this is talking about the man, the woman too has had a ruff day with the kids, school teachers, neighbours (a housewife) and(or) randy colleagues n bosses, denied promotions etc (for a working woman) and she also needs to unburden herself to her man.

some 50s rules do not cut it for me

my 2 cents
FamilyRe: Perfection - The Wonderful Life of A Good (naija) Wife by biolabee(m): 5:18pm On Oct 21, 2008
dear baby jinx
readin thru ur post brings up an imagery of a woman who has no inititiative of her own and in the absence of her man would be useless to herself and even the children.

i believe that the modern mariage as an institution is a partnership where the woman submits not out of lack of strength but of her own free will and choice and where the man is the head but not a dictator.

in business terms, the man is the chairman/ceo: doing high level stuff but the woman is the COO(chief operating officer) who is responsible for how money is spent, children, inlaws basic daily decisons that guys donot want to get involved in,

undecided

this was sent to my mailbox although some other users said they received no such email
