focus7:I think you are very wrong with your assertion...In fact, if not for anything, its the SW that made nonsense of their electoral value, with non-Yorubas winning elections in Lagos, and the very low voter-turnout, (about 4.4m voters across 6 six states), despite having more stake in this election. I still salute the spirit of people in SE, who tried to make it a contest between the parties, despite not having anyone on the ticket of either PDP or APC and also been short-changed in govt's developmental projects so far. That said, I still believe that SE political leaders must seriously begin to invest their energy in a party that protect their interest. This has always been my personal opinion, especially as it is now obvious that the Hausa-Fulani would always vote their own, irrespective of any other logic. The defeat of President Jonathan, I insist, is very-much ethnically motivated and has nothing to do with Buhari been a better choice!! Its time for SE, and by extension, Ndigbo to secure their interests in APGA, and use it as a bargaining chip to negotiate political power with other regional blocks. Had it been such was the situation BEFORE this election, I doubt if any Presidential candidate in this country will win during the first ballot.... |
For the OP, the phrase is absolutely correct when used informally in conversations. It needs to be stated that written and spoken forms of languages differ and speech forms would also vary, depending on who is being addressed. For instance, while its use would suggest lack of etiquette in formal, corporate communication, there is nothing wrong with it when used among peers. |
For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest (Eccl. 3:1-2)....RIP Olusegun Agagu |
I have always maintained that Kwankwaso is an 1D10T!. Could you imagine? His sole reason for calling for sack of Odimegwu is that he (Odimegwu) spent virtually his career with Nigeria Breweries What a shame for a state governor who should know better that Festus Odimegwu is far more qualified to run any public service than a billlion replica of himself!I would want to believe that Gov. kwankwaso met with Jonathan to settle differences in his party, the PDP AHEAD of 2015 which to all discening minds, is to feather his selfish interest as a well-tutored ROGUE politician. How then does that connect with who leads the NPC, even to the extent of scrutinizing Odimegwu's CV? Hmmm.... If not for the comedy for which Nigeria has long since being reduced, KWANKWASO should not have any business vetting Odimegwu's competency, let alone to comment publicly on them!! If it were say for instance, on how to end Boko Haram crisis or addressing the nomadic cattle rearers and their issues... I think this is more likely to be where he can make inputs but definitely not bench-marking Odimegwu. IT IS AN ABERATION!!! Well meaning Nigerians should start calling kwankwaso and his ilk to order. Kwankwaso has proved to be an hard-core tribalist who sees nothing good in others, save if they are Hausa-Fulani. He is fond of playing the ethnic card to further his selfish interests and create chaos. He made so much noise about maligning of Northern army officers by Ihejirika, blew false alarm on Sen. Ekweremadu about state creation and continues to pay lip service to the security of lives and propeerty of settler communities in Kano. Quite recently, he has perfected a strategy of making ghost lists of casualties of dastardly terrorist attacks in his crisis-ridden Kano enclave, all in a viscious bid to consolidate political power. Gov. kwankwaso should desist forthwith from his crude antics and stop commenting on persons and issues for which he lacks knowledge. |
Fajuyi was truly a man of honour. Why? Because he insisted on what he believed was right: not just because the intended beneficiary was Igbo. From accounts of events on his very last day on earth, is certain he would have done same for a Hausa, or a Nupe or Ibibio..He could have been able to negotiate his own safety by giving up Ironsi immediately IF HE WANTED but he didn't! He might have lived with a sense of betrayal if he did otherwise. He was in ALL SENSE, his brother's keeper. It is very sad that in today's Nigeria, you may never find a single person with the traits of sacrifice and loyalty displayed by Fajuyi . Rather, lies, treachery, blackmail & deceit has become the norm within and between members of ethnic groups. For Madam Eunice Fajuyi who was widowed for nearly 50years,I guess she still managed to live a life of fulfillment as attested by the reports of her funeral. Indeed no honour is too great to be done to the Fajuyis, nothwithsatnding the ethnic hatred ochestrated by political jobbers. Adekunle and Eunice made enormous sacrifices for Nigeria's unity. Sadly as at today, national unity look even more distant than it were in 1966 |

biodunid: Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, while addressing State House journalists on Friday, had called for the sack of Odimegwu, saying his appointment was a mistake. The governor was quoted as saying that many of them (governors) were not with the appointment of the NPC chairman.Gov Kwankwaso is at it again! Who is afraid of the truth? Why would this glorified cattle rearer exhibit his paranoia for anything Igbo? He picks holes with any Igbo holding Federal appointments, even in minor positions. Recall how he chided Enweremadu and sensationalised South-East agitation for additional state as if Enweremadu alone has the power to create a council ward, let alone a state, and by doing so clearly displayed his pitifull ignorance about the constitution he swore to uphold. It is high time Igbo leaders, particularly those in the FG atart calling this foolish aboki to order! It is undeniable that his careless statements have fuelled the incessant bombings and killings of Ndigbo in Kano, with no clear programme of compensation or justice for victims of a KWANKWASO MASTER-MINDED GENOCIDE That said, Odimegwu must remain and carry out his task of confronting the biggest demographic fraud in the whole world!Fact remains that of all West African regions within the same latitudinal belt, Nigeria is the only country where the North is said to have more population than the south. As at 2006, the North-west zone was 'allocated' a figure of about 35 million people: yet the whole of Niger republic, a country with which it shares many cultural, economic and social ties has no more than 18 million people!Yet this dirty mallam and his ilk has not for once tried to argue intelligently as to why this could have been so. Finally, Ra-biu Kwan-kwa-so's rant is clearly a representation of what his name suggests- a periodic emmission of noise. |
AWKA_MADE_GUN: They say our territory is ‘’no-man’s land’’ yet they will never offer us theirs in return or even allow us to build there.I have long concluded that Fani- Kayode is a hardened LIAR and only a foo..l can unashamedly make such statement! What worries me however is what purpose does he intend to achieve by dishing out falsehood? In the course course of my job, I have been to practically every corner of this country. I have also spent quite some time in the South-east. That Yorubas are not offered chance to flourish in Igboland is a CAPITAL LIE! As a matter of fact, many Yorubas and other Nigerians do live in the South-east but for reasons best known to them, do not leave any landmark that can sign-post their presence- by this I mean for instance house or business premises that COULD BE PASSED TO A NEXT GENERATION. If there are any, then that would possibly be a very few. It is indeed very hard to find any Yoruba that can claim up to four generations in the entire South-east! May be, this has to do with a general mindset- afterall that was another country... But that has n't been the case with the Igbo. And it is not just a Lagos thing or the allure of trading as bandied by the likes of a morally-challenged Kayode. In 2006, while on duty in Borno State, I stumbled on an elderly night guard attached to an LG secretariat whom I mistakenly took to be a Kanuri, because of the way he dressed and freely conversed in that language. It was not until I introduced myself and my origins that I got to know he was from an Aro, my maternal clan and that he has been living in Borno since before the civil war!! If we are assume that he came initially for business, that obviously changed but he managed to stay on and raise a family rather than clear his drawer and return home. What I am trying to state is this: as far as Nigeria remains a single country, ALL AREAS ARE UNRESTRICTED TO OPPORTUNITIES, TO EVERY PERSON THAT IS DEEMED TO BE A NIGERIAN! It is sheer idiocy for anyone, like FFK to infer that Yorubas or any other ethnicity is n't allowed to progress and develop in Ala-Igbo. In contrast, current religious and ethnic intolernce witnessed in the North and now steadily canvassed in the south-west by a hopeless FFK is the real danger to Nigeria's unity which he claims to defend. What a clown! That said, the choice to live and be willing to contribute to areas outside one's ethnicity remains a personal one, FAR from the hatred and deceit exhibited by a useles and scornful Kayode. And I am happy that some Yoruba folks in this forum like TUNDEOLANIYI have long confessed to enjoying as much freedom in pursuing their interests in Igboland as they could get in their native areas. |
The problem in this country is that those who have been prepared for leadership through many years of educational trainning, international exposure and concrete achievements are senselessly schemed out from the electoral process. Else which other aspirants in APGA, PDP or even APC can match half of Soludo- a man who created real opportunities for thousand of jobless youths and hence, millions of families during his time at CBN? As long as there is no room for independent candidature, Soludo must be allowed to contest in APGA primaries- simple! For how long should we continue to field mediocres? People come here to talk idly about party politics.. One must realize that imposition of candidates at party primaries is the reason for low voter turn-out in most elections and the hence, the rigging nonsense that has become the bane of Nigerian politics. Or how could have a cultist, Evans Bipi become an assemblyman and an old, village thief TA Orji become governor if not for such heartless impositions? Can one in all conscience deny that there aren't persons who are 1 millon X more qualified than these two, in their respective areas before and during elections? NDI ANAMBRA MUST ENSURE THAT THE RIGHT CANDIDATES EMERGE NOT JUST IN APGA BUT IN ALL THE PARTIES!We must use party primaries to eradicate all these polliticians that have held the state down for so long with nothing concrete to point as achievements: the likes of Peter Obi, Ngige, Andy Uba, et al. |
eye4eye: The power to create new states is vested with the National Assembly; not the executive.Gbam! However, I think it would be better if Ohaneze Ndigbo as a whole throw its full weight behind the creation of Anioma State. Having decided to rotate its offices among the areas in Igboland, what stops Ohaneze for pursuing the realisation of Anioma State? it may not be a state for the South-east but it will definitely further the cause of Igbo unity, considering the emasculation of Anioma people in the present Delta State |
iyaniwurablog: The head of state was killed in a shower of bullets immediatelygood, very good.....he got the same medicine he gave so many innocents in his short, violent and ill-mannered life |
Those who often try to deny their Igbo identity in what is now Rivers State are in fact 100% Igbo! If you are not Igbo, why make effort to deny it? Waht would it even profit someone to deny his/her heritage? Unless you are a toddler, or one of those lying machines, you must agree that an organised and deliberate policy to check the political and economic power of Igbos in Nigeria was launched by the FG immediately after the war. Out-lying areas around PH where pre-fixed with the R's, just to confuse the authentic Igbo identity and corner oil money. Even up to 1976, the whole of Obigbo including Afam, Owaza and Egbema which are part of Igbo cultural areas were within Gowon's post-war packaged East- Central State. Having transversed Obigbo, Ikwerre-Etche, Ekpeye and Orashi rareas, I can confirm as I speak, that these areas still speak and write in Igbo alphabets (36), watch Igbo movies, play Igbo gospel songs, organise Igbo traditional marriage, chieftaincy (even 'ezeship') and burial ceremonies and very funnily, give their sons and daughters Igbo names! Please is there an additional'Ikwerre, Etche or Ogba' meaning to Chibuike and Amaechi apart from 'God is strength' and 'let the family tree continue' respectively ![]() |
mu2sa2: The lone salat man is not the one blocking the road. Put on your glasses and you will see that it's the phalanx of policemen who are barricading the road quite unnecessarily.Foolish boy, so you see nothing wrong in your facebook activist hallucinating right in the middle of the road eeh? All the mosques in Ethiopia cannot contain his wretched body? Soon your type will call on muslims to be spreading their mats on Lagos- Ibadan express...Nasty fellow |
Mrs Kale, you did your best for the army but it is either the person that made this report is lying or you are lying! You were eased out in 1996 and Diya's alleged coup happened in late 1997: How does it bring up the issue of being retired based on ethincity? Were you expecting to remain and be given the same rank as Abacha himself? You reached the pinnacle of your career, even in a setting where females then had below 2 percent chance of succeeding. In Nigeria's 'normal' circumstance I was expecting a report that states you spent 50 years in the army but since I didn't read such, then there's nothing to blame |
Emmm...What do we call this? An act of religious piety or brazen defiance to personal and public safety? Why pray in the middle of a main road, meant to serve general interest? Does this self-acclaimed activist realize that he is intentionally radicalizing otherwise well-meaning muslims? The only good thing about this post is that the police must have picked him after his 'activist' praying....to continue doing same indefinitely in Ethiopian kirikiri |
Pls this is a very stale news... Buhari will contest in 2015 just as I'm free to do the same. I see no reason to make a capital of his intentions. Aferall he has been contesting since 2003 |
which kain nyama nyama tin bi dis?? Abeg comot hia... Eye just dey pain me!!! |
This man Bala Lade is a very unserious person. In fact this report didn't surprise me cos he has no biz being in politics in the first place. His defection to APC should be a very big PLUS for APGA in Kwara State |
What Obasanjo is saying is nothing new... and he should also take part of the blame for electoral process that produced the likes of Ibori, Alams and Salisu Buhari in the first place! |
OUK just need to play very smart with this ill- advised step of LASG...just sue for damages and loss of revenue from his property and he could earn as much as 5X its present value |
na the head of anti- Amaechi lawmakers be dat ?? ![]() |
hmmm... all these killer cops... For me, Nigerian police is an enemy! |
What a shame for a state governor who should know better that Festus Odimegwu is far more qualified to run any public service than a billlion replica of himself!
