In Ijawland we are not Ohaneze ndi Igbo that their first attempt to speak in their tongues turned into a meeting to resolve never to speak in Igbo because after the first speaker it was clear that was the tower of Babel. I accept your surrender |

Everybody knows it is Igbos who try to be like other ethnic nations in Nigeria. You never had access to our kingdoms until Nigeria came into existence.
Igbo people were never 1st, 2nd nor 3rd choice in our place. Our women never married Igbo, it was seen as a downgrade. If not for churches that have helped you today, people knew marrying an Igbo was a taboo. No woman did that! Funny. Especially coming from people that try as much as possible to look like Igbo |

Some of the people you Nri Igbo today spoke other languages many years ago. Their languages changed largely due to Igbo benefitting from colonialism. 2Lynx: Well you are so right on this...the Igbos will let go, if you want out. And this is just in their gene remember they solely practised indirect rule under the colonial masters this is coming after every effort to get them organized under one central government failed...they place so much emphasis on linage and clan rulership even till this day...if the Igbos should successfully get divorced from this matrimony called Nigeria and then other tribes should join her, if those tribe wants to move out, it will be so easy...very easy, like, say the word and the igbos would let you go cheaply and still give you resources sef.... ...But with the way things are going I just hope this trait is still in the igbos That is how we are brought up. I've watched many towns get autonomy in person. So it's more like our identity. |

Instead of keeping quiet you keep forcing people to expose your( Igbo) slave history. Igbos doesn't cross water and Nri managed to get to cross the Niger river to present day Delta state. The Ijaw did not even have that level of interaction with Igbos! Thank God for what Lugard and Nigeria gave you and stop overestimating yourselves. Oga we did. Ask your old relatives. Where do you think the Osu and Ohu (slaves) in Northern Igboland come from. Don't tell me you thought they grow on trees. They are from Igala, Ijaw and other minorities. Olisa is a short form of Olisebuluwa. This is exhausting.
Nwolosebuwa also Nwachukwu Nwosa/ Nwa Olisebuluwa Olisa/Olisebuluwa emeka Okosa/ Nwoke Olisebuluwa melu mma Mbosa/ mbelu Olisebuluwa Osegboo/ Olisebuluwa gbolu ogu Osakwe/ Olisebuluwa kwelu Osefo/ Olisebuluwa efolum Oseloka/ Olisebuluwa eloka(My son's name and many uncles)
This is not enough to cause Igbo disunity. Igbo is still Igbo but very diverse even in looks. You don't speak like someone that have lived in Igboland. Which one is Oliseburuwa? Maybe you heard Olisa kere ụwa and you think you can manipulate it. Olisa is a name as it is. Just type Nwolisa on your search board and stop telling everybody you don't live in SE |

IDENNAA: The nomenclature is not so important to me right now. I have used "Omanbala" , "Ideocha", and "Onicha" to identify this Anambra form of speech.
Meanwhile, Osebuluwa not Oseburuwa(Imo copied from Anambra) is rooted in antiquity in Anambra. It doesn't belong to Onicha. Osegboo Mbosa Okosa Olisa Nwosa etc are all ancient in Anambra. Olisa as a name is totally different from Oseburuwa or Osebuluwa as you call it. Nwosa is short form Nwolisa (my classmate bears this as surname those days) Okosa =Oke olisa Like I said before we need to stop this so as not to feed the Bini poachers what they need. They are already hunting for things to manipulate here. Olisa is actually the God of Creation just like Oseburuwa. Olisa is more used across the entire Igboland especially in Anambra. Olisa=Chineke=Olisa=Oseburuwa(Onitsha dialect mostly used in Catholic Church) |

iSlayer: There's a post where someone said what is spoken across various Anambra communities are similar yet distinct. This is the truth. The "general" Igbo spoken across is not Onicha dialect, though it may be close. No matter how much one speaks this "general" Igbo, one with a keen ear can still pinpoint where you're from.
Again, any move to supposedly impose one particular dialect, no matter how sweet it is on the tongue will be resisted. The indigenous dialects across the state, from Onicha to Awka to Nnewi and interior areas remain sacrosanct to the people, traditionally and otherwise. You've said it all. Infact what is spoken in Enu Onitsha is not actually Onitsha dialect. It a dialect formed out of cohabitation of various Igbo groups over the years. It is very different from the original Onitsha dialect and the indigenes will tell you so. It is even modernizing every year. Like recently they included de je, something that is peculiar to Nsukka dialect. In summary anybody that can understand the new dialect they speak in Igbo cities like Onitsha or the entire Anambra State because there is a way we are interwoven unlike others can understand any kind of dialect in Igboland. The best is to leave it like that. Don't tag a name to it so as not to bring resistance and allow nature take over |
