What im saying is that were all of those pledges presented to the Emir of Sokoto, the Oba of Ife and Oyo, and the various Kingdoms of Igboland before Nigeria was united in 1914? Did all the ethnicities hold a congressional meeting and write those pledges before Nigeria was formed? Was anyone consulted on wether or not to join Nigeria? No, no, no.
Lmao! HAhahahahahahah. Roflmao. DUDE, PICK UP A DAMN BOOK AND STOP CHATTING FUXCKERY!!!

You sure you still wanna argue about who consulted who, or who didnt send a love note to the other before establishing the country?!

Ojukwu committed treason, and thats the long and short of it. And if Nigeria were not such a useless country, led by useless people who are followed by even more useless people, a person like Ojukwu that so flagrantly violated the constitution he swore to uphold should have been tried and shot. Period!

You continue to post tons of worthless information. No, no, no.
So as long as such a thing happens, everyone has the right to secede at any moment. The American 13 colonies all held a constitutional Congress in Pennsylvania in 1775 and each state agreed to join into the Union this justifies the Norths ability to wage war against the South inorder to preserve the agreement. Such a thing didn't happen in Nigeria so they are incomparable.
You have zilch idea what your talking about and the moment you just get to reading instead of posting shiyyt that dont make no sense, the better for you.

@ Bk.Babe
How am I a faker? I have calmly presented my case and gave peacefully presented you with my disagreement. You say that they swore allegiance to Nigeria, says who? The Union of Southern Nigeria and the Islamic Caliphate of North Nigeria was created by the drawings of an English cartographer without pure consent of anyone. After this they came and hung up British flags in our villages and called us Nigeria.Did all the ethnicities of Nigeria congregate and have a meeting on wether or not to unite? NO. so don't give me any Bullshit on unity and allegiance. Until that happens, everyone has the right to secede.

Nzeribe Is Rabidly Anti-Igbo

By C. Don Adinuba
Tuesday, August 26, 2003

More than 30 years ago, Nzeribe first cut the image of an anti-Igbo element when he supplied arms, ammunition and equipment to the Igbo enemy for the annihilation of his own people. At the age of 64, he is still playing the same game, argues C. Don Adinuba

No one is surprised at the inelegant role Francis Arthur Nzeribe is playing in the ever unfolding Igbo drama. It is in keeping with tradition. He is eminently allergic to inspiring conduct, all the more so when Igbo interests are involved. Let the examples speak for themselves.

One of the 15 reasons for which Senator Arthur Nzeribe asked the National Assembly to impeach President Olusegun Obasanjo in early 2000 was the non-resolution of the Sharia law controversy, stating that it was to the detriment of Muslims. Most Igbo people were flabbergasted. Many victims of the carnage in Kaduna between February 21 and 23 over the proposed adoption of the Muslim legal regime were Eastern Nigerians, and the perpetrators were Muslim fanatics.

In other words, Nzeribe's solidarity on the extremely sensitive issue of Sharia is not with the victims, who are his Igbo brothers and sisters, but, most curiously, with their oppressors, their assailants. Still, Nzeribe is in the Senate supposedly to articulate, espouse and defend the interests of the Orlu zone, which prides itself on being part of the Igbo heartland.

Nzeribe's latest jihad need not surprise anyone, let alone the East. The jihad, if anything, is in keeping with tradition, the tradition of adopting an uncompromisingly combative stance against Igbo interests. No Igbo, dead or alive, shares with Nzeribe the distinction or reputation of supplying arms to their ferocious enemy during the 30-month Nigerian-Biafran war simply because it was a lucrative business. Who knows if Arthur Nzeribe didn't have a hand in the supply of arms, ammunition and equipment which killed my very beloved father on April 20, 1968, when the Nigerian Air Force jets raided Owerri, a civilian target? With the death, the fortunes of my family changed dramatically, a reality from which some family members have yet to recover.

In a flattering book written on him by Dilibe Onyeama with the fabulous title, An African Legend, Arthur Nzeribe had an excellent opportunity to apologise for his role in the Biafran war, but he showed no remorse whatsoever. While in a discussion with Dilibe at Enugu Airport in the mid-1980s, the author ruefully told me that he did not know that Nzeribe was so unpopular that the book would be a monumental market failure; just a few copies were sold.

Now, let us compare Nzeribe's behaviour over the civil war with that of Yakubu Gowon, Nigeria's military Head of State during the fratricide of 1967-70. Five years ago at the public presentation of Victor Eremonsele's excellent book, Nigerian Petroleum Business, at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs in Lagos, I approached Gowon and intimated him about how my father was tragically cut down in his prime while performing his legitimate function as a journalist. General Gowon, short of shedding tears, kept on apologising profusely, "I'm sorry, very sorry, deeply sorry. Please, forgive me. I'm very, very sorry for the colossal tragedy which befell you and your family." The former Head of State gave me an appointment so that he could form a personal relationship with my family.

In a saner society, Nzeribe's role during the Biafran War would have forever ruined him politically. The Igbo like being referred to as the Jews of Africa. Afterall, they are a bundle of intelligence, resourcefulness and entrepreneurial skills, and they are scattered in large numbers all over the world. In spite of all odds, the Igbo, like the Jews, record fantastic successes in all fields. But they lack the political savvy and sophistication of the Jews, who will never allow any suspected anti-Semitic person to rise to high office anywhere in the world. When his biography was published a few years ago, Jewish intellectuals discovered a lacuna in the biodata of Kurt Waldheim, the erstwhile UN Secretary-General, who was running to become the president of Austria. They found out that Dr. Waldheim served the Nazi at a rather callow age. Though eventually elected president of Austria, the powerful Jewish lobby succeeded in getting many governments of the world, including the one in Washington, to declare him a persona non grata.

Let us also consider the example of another drama in Austria. By 2000, Joerg Haider, leader of Freedom Party, was not in government, but the involvement of his party in the new coalition government generated a tremendous furore worldwide. The United States and the European Union imposed sanctions against Austria. All this was because Mr. Haider once uttered a statement interpreted to be favourable about Adolf Hitler, a heinous crime as far as the Jews are concerned. Why then are the Igbo, the Jews of Africa, rewarding one of their number with a record of working very hard against them? Is it imaginable that the Jews would once, twice, thrice make a senator one of their number, who collaborated with the Nazis in the Holocaust in which six million of their people were gassed to death?

The Great Zik of Africa, the perceptive man he was, was so sceptical about Arthur Nzeribe that he did not for once fly the helicopter which Nzeribe donated to him for the 1983 presidential election campaign. Zik was a far-sighted leader, who saw in advance what many could see only several years later. Who could have foreseen that the same Nzeribe, who in his book, Nigeria: Another Hope Betrayed where he passionately argued against Nigeria's domination by the "Muslim North" would fanatically campaign for another four years for Ibrahim Babangida, a Muslim and Northerner, who had ruled Nigeria for eight years? Even in a subsequent book, Nigeria: The Turning-Point, Nzeribe was still preoccupied with finding an end to Muslim North domination. "At this particular time, there is no greater need," he argued strongly in the preface, "than for people outside the Christian South to understand the real issues…, It is time that we addressed the country's agenda rather than that set out by the controlled and influenced media or by the government through the army, largely dominated by Northern Muslims." Yet, the same Nzeribe campaigned so rigorously for not just Babangida, but also Sani Abacha, two persons who ruled Nigeria most irresponsibly and who viciously and humiliatingly dealt with the highly principled Igbo Chief of General Staff, Ebitu Ukiwe. In fact, the week the former Head of State died in June, 1998, Nzeribe was on the cover of Newswatch magazine, strongly making a case for Abacha's continued rulership.

Does anyone need be reminded that Nzeribe, the supposed implacable foe of the Muslim North and the Don Quixote of the Christian South, caused a stir when all newspapers reported in 1988 or 1989 that he had converted to Islam? On the Sunday the news was published, I was with Nzeribe in Arthur Nwankwo's house in Enugu. Immediately the papers arrived at Nwankwo's residence, Nzeribe hurriedly left for Motodel Hotel and from there sent his younger brother to inform us that he would not come back because he had taken ill. No one believed him. Did Nzeribe actually convert to Islam? He never publicly answered that question, but for some time, he developed the habit of lacing almost every sentence to the press with the popular Muslim refrain, Insha Allah.

Nzeribe is worth more than two billion pounds (£2b), going by his last published account. Yet, he has no investments whatsoever in Igboland. If other people with immense resources were to behave like him, there would be no commerce or industry anywhere in Igboland. If Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Sonny Odogwu, Mike Ajaegbo and the rest were to borrow a leaf from Nzeribe, there would not have been Diamond Bank, Hallmark Bank, Minaj Broadcasting International, Champion Newspapers, SIO Industries, IEA, Ekene Dili Chukwu Transport Line, ABC Transport, Udoji Football Club, Jasper United Club, African Development Insurance Company, Ordrec Investments, Chrome Oil, etc. Where will hundreds of thousands of Igbo people who graduate yearly work? Yet, Nzeribe is a billionaire by any standards in the world.

Even in ordinary matters of philanthropy and social responsibility, Nzeribe's record is abysmal. He began the Nzeribe Foundation with tremendous fanfare. But he initiated the Foundation simply because he wanted to become governor of Imo State. When Babangida disqualified him, the Foundation died instantly. The Foundation was obviously a Greek gift.

The Igbo will ever remain indebted to the Catholic Church, particularly the French-based order of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit (CSSP), for building numerous hospitals and schools in Igboland, including Holy Ghost College in Owerri which Nzeribe was to attend. The first Nigerian Spiritan priest and bishop was Nzeribe's uncle, Dr. Anthony Nwedo Nzeribe. When the bishop emeritus of Umuahia Diocese was buried in 2000, Arthur Nzeribe shocked everybody by bluntly refusing to attend any of the ceremonies. To repeat the obvious, the fact that Arthur Nzeribe comes from a family with a bishop has not stopped him from being arguably the most fetish politician in Nigeria. Recall that in his days as the uncrowned leader of the Social Democratic Party in Eastern Nigeria, Nzeribe's most-remembered contribution, apart from causing the party to lose the gubernatorial election in all the states except Anambra because of his imposition of unpopular candidates on the states, was forcing almost every important office seeker to swear an oath of absolute loyalty to him. What Nzeribe actually wanted was not just a party he could control and manipulate, but, indeed, a cult with himself as the absolute ruler.

More than 30 years ago, Nzeribe first cut the image of an anti-Igbo element when he supplied arms, ammunition and equipment to the Igbo enemy for the annihilation of his own people. At the age of 64, he is still playing the same game. It is one of the greatest political scandals of Nigerian political history that a person with this record is in the Senate, ostensibly elected by the same people whose interests he has never espoused in any way. But all hope is not lost, as the 1999 Constitution, despite all its infamous imperfections, provides for the recall of any erring legislator.

International law dictates that no nation shall be involved in another nations civil war. In US civil War if Britain had assisted the south there would have been two Americas. In Sudanese civil war if Egypt assisted Northern Sidsn the independent State of South Sudan wouldn't have existed today. Let me tell you if the US and Britain had not been involved in Biafra, Biafra would have lasted much longer and possibly won the conflict. All Biafra needed was the sea to import food from friendly countries like Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
Is this true? And what does "involved" mean in this case?
I was under the impression that Britain was too occupied with other stuff to really assist the south. and too dependent on imports from the North.
Didn't Egypt sell a bunch of weaponry to Sudan? Where did Sudan get its weapons from? It certainly didn't make them itself.
US and Brits sold weapons to Nigeria, right? This was the main extent of their involvement, correct? I'm pretty sure that you are allowed to sell weapons to sides in a conflict.
Chief Arthur Nzeribe, an Ibo man still celebrated and loved by his clansmen till this day, SOLD WEAPONS TO BOTH THE BIAFRAN AND NIGERIAN SIDE. Matter fact, he refused to sell to Biafra because she couldnt raise payment for his goods, while he readily sold to the Nigerian Govt. because they could afford his fees. So, Go figure. . . .

Britain helped Nigeria bcus it wanted to maintain ties with it's colony and US helped because it wanted to support it's Ally Britain but I digress. Biafran troops were guerillas and they had homefield advantage. If the food supply hadn't been cut, The Biafran conflict would have been one of insurgency.

International Law also dictates that each and every man is born with certain unaliable rights such as the right to: freedom, liberty, self determination and the pursuit of happiness. So if your people are being massacred by the thousands in a country in which you did not ask to join, why wouldn't you declare independence and secede. If 30,000 Yorubas were massacred in Kano just because they were Yoruba, wouldnt the West secede? Ojukwu was an instrument of the people. We used him to try and liberate us but he tried. Igbos were the first to see the troubles in Nigeria, but once again I digress.

If at all anything, Gowonn should be tried for War crimes , violation of international law, and for genocide. The blood of 1 million Igbos rests upon his head.

Dividing the country is justifiable. IMHO, I believe that the GCFR** should be awarded to Ikemba and Effiong, they both led a part of Nigeria during the most trying times. In addition, some streets/roads/crescents/dual-carriage-ways should be named after these illustrious Nigerians. It is high time Nigeria healed the wounds of divide the keeps witch-hunting its populace. All the towns, villages, roads bearing Igbo names in pre-civil war times to be returned to their original names.

Easterners fought to protect themselves, they fought for the right to exist, they fought for what every black man is still fighting today - a fight for independence.

Finally, the money being earmarked for the these areas affected by conflict should be wisely used to improve these areas and the people inhabiting them.

In sane societies, when a Military official commits a Treasonable Felony against the State i.e a coup, the penalty for that is usually death by firing squad or by hanging. If [just] an attempt to take over Government could warrant such punishment, how then is it that an attempt TO DIVIDE THE COUNTRY  by force automatically attracts a monetary compensation?! In most societies Ojukwu would have been a folk hero by now. . . . . . referred to only in the past tense.

While I will never advocate another man's death, especially not one whom I admire and respect like the Ikemba, I still think it is utterly irresponsible of the Nigerian Govt. to honor, financially, a man that sort to split the country. If Nigeria had been divided as Ojuwkwu planned, who will be paying him now? But then again,we're complaining about the same man that welcomed Bode George from prison by holding a huge party on his behalf!

Like I said over a year ago (check my old posts) I wont be surprised if  (when Ojukwu dies) the Federal Govt. of Nigeria not only honors him with a National Burial and a public holiday in his memory, or a post humous Medal complete with National Honors. Imagine if the United States  decided to honor Timothy Mcveigh or Terry Nichols. . . . .

Nigeria, what a waste of valuable land space. Theres no time, though, that yall aint gonna go to war. 'Cause, eventually, all the bullshiyyt has to be settled once and for all. Spreading the money as wastefully as possible aint gone save yall, theres gotta be a "few good men" still lurking around your country somewhere thats tired of all this crap.

Let me make some things clear (at least from my perspective). This money is by no means a "settlement" or fair compensation for wrongs done to N'delta or Biafra or Ndigbo or Ojukwu.
This is a token - a demonstration of good intent. When apartheid was beginning to crumble, there were similar "small" gestures from the minority ruling whites before the taps opened fully for black empowerment.

Anyone who reads this as a full settlement is a fool.

Dude, u got bigger problemos than just hate, jealousy, envy, and bigotry. Pick up a book and solve YOUR problem, instead of facing those that aint got no time for u!

Illiterate punk!

Eko Ile:
lmao. We don't even have to define them, they are doing a great job defining themselves as the ultimate mumu.

After running out of pics of ugly road sides and bridges, they are now posting pictures from other countries just to discredit another state inside their own country. This is pure bad bele on steroids,

Talk about lack of pride and belief in your own country and people.

ibo people are funny animals indeed, that's why they amount to nothing and will remain so.
You know what scares me the most about their hate? Its not that they are in "friendly" competition with the Yorubas in a "lets see who's gonna develop her region faster" type of ish, its that all they do is hope that the Yorubas crash and burn. . . . even when they aint doing shiyyt to develop their own homes.

Example? When you hear and read about them wanting to dredge the Niger River, build their own airports ect the next thing you hear them say is "Once we get the Seaports and Airports going LAGOS ECONOMY IS GONNA CRASH AND THE SOUTH WEST IS GONNA BE MESSED UP!!!" Like, who wishes another man fails just because you succeed? Theres something called "Nature", u dont wish evil and expect to reap goodwill. Fo*ols!

Develop your own Region and stop hating. If the dredging of the River will make your country and Region prosper, then, thats what you should be aiming for, not hoping to destroy another out of jealousy!

Monkeys! If you Region develops as fast as the South West, then, it benefits the WHOLE OF NIGERIA not just one section. When foreign investors look at places like Lagos and Abuja all they see is "NIGERIA", not Yourba land. Lagos has the economy of certain countries. Have you thought to your Ibo selves what would happen to Nigeria if the economy of Lagos was to crash?! Nigeria would burn!!! But, no, cause its in ur nature to be evil and destructive u monkeys dont never think that far. Or, u probably do, and just like the Devil (yall are) you just want to "Destroy" anyways.

Ive never seen someone hate his host----- the same host that welcomes you with open arms. Jealous fuxcks, no wonder they doing their best to steal Lagos State from its owners. Greedy Gorillas!

Eko Ile should hook them up with the injectable version of this medication to stop their hate.

Actually, I think the injectable method would be the best, afterall, they used to shooting up all kinds of of illegal narcotics i.e Heroin and its like. Why u think they usually arrested for selling drugs?

p.s: most of the african drug addicts u run into, here in NY, are usually Ibo. So, yeah, Eko Ile where the syringe at for my Ibo brothers?

mehn, this dude ekt-bear i, apparently,  erroneously use to think u were some above-the-fray erudite fellow i guess i was wrong.
your increasingly tribalist tendencies are really casting an ugly shadow on your personalities.  its really becoming repugnant. abi u don turn x/f/stranger ? talk, so we go simply ignore u and your comments.

why the 6 western states? and not advocating something more nationalist like the president (tho i don't completely think he is awesome).

on the topic,  the so called plant to be built where will the gas to power it come from? the 6 yoruba state?
So, because he wants whats good for his homeland, now he's a tribalist? What does Western Nigeria have in common with you guys? What kind of development is going on in your Region? How many of your governors could you, honestly, term as "progressives"? Nationalist indeed! "Nationalist" with an Ibo man that would rather let the Devil have raw se*x with him than see a Yoruba man as Speaker of the House? How come yall supporting the Hausas (for Speaker) even though the Hausa will never support you even as Janitor or Dishwasher of the House?

First get your house in order.

Your Region is dragging Nigeria down because of their bigoted attitude and you come here flapping gums accusing another of being tribalist. Wonders shall never end.

Corruption is part of our system and it can only be by violence for us to get things right. Our leaders are so corrupt that they flaunt their wealth and nothing happens. Look at Bank directors, after stealing billions will get plea bargain. Governors, after looting the state dry gets plea bargain. Now, if I am going there, knowing fully well that Mr. A, got plea bargain for stealing billion, I will confident enough to steal trillion. It goes on and on. So, who will arrest who?

Nice one. Just one question, sir; WHO DID YOU VOTE FOR IN THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS?

Chinedu Ehiem Dismissed by Vatican amid Gay Prostitution Sex Scandal

Chinedu Ehiem, a Nigerian ceremonial usher in Vatican, was dismissed after his name appeared in police wiretaps transcripts for an unrelated investigation. Chinedu Ehiem was in regular contact with Angelo Balducci, who was initially arrested on corruption charges before the sex scandal emerged.

Transcripts of the wiretaps between Chinedu Ehiem and Angelo Balducci show that their subject of discussion was gay sex. Police say Balducci was in contact with Ghinedu Ehiem and another Italian who were part of "an organized network ,  to abet male prostitution."

lankieman:
I wonder in this age of civilization and development, why we cannot digitalize all our security operatives in Nigeria; if the police and the military are all digitallized , it will enable the Authority to keep track records of all the activities of their men, who is on duty, who has been dismissed all their track records can be on "check", now in Nigeria,if a Policeman is dismissed in Lagos he can be recruited in Kano which is not suppose to be the case, Diditalizing them will enable the Authority store their data Biometrically in a data bank for easy tracking and to keep tab, also check their excesses, i know it will not stop crime perpetrated by them but it will definitely reduce it.
Which police? This one. . . . . . . .
