I would have to say that this is true. Ghanians are nicer than Nigerians because on the internet it is always a Nigerian who talks ill of black americans. It is even here in the USA that Nigerians speak badly of them. I read on forums of black american's experience of living or working with a Nigerian and it is always a negative experience.Nigerians call black americans akata which means nigger and an offensive word. Don't try to deny the word really means what I said, because you all know the truth. They even admit that they speak bad of black americans in their own country. I love Ghanians because they are better to accept people without relying on stereotypes that the white or jewish media paint to you. In America, they paint Africa as starving or being Tarzan roaming the jungles. There are probably still Americans who think their is still tribal warfare going on there.
Ahh ok. Well it is good to see another side. My purpose is for us all to address the real issue: racism. But, I know that we cant overcome racism without addressing each others pain.

I think the word has gotten lost in its original meaning and unfortunately our private thoughts are on twitter; Nigerians have made it available for the world to see - and we are pissing people off from US to Britain. We didnt realize that youd read our thoughts, somehow we are foolishly allowing you to follow us and talking about you? And now it is really getting tense. I am sincerely trying to fix it. My Jamaican friend really shook me up. Ive always been unique in my family: my blackness before my tribe. I admit I am in the minority. Us Nigerians are ethnic first, patriots first and then black. Im inverted. Im black first. But it is rare, hopefully I can convince more people to see our unity first.

I know that we wont always see eye to eye but hopefully this is a first step.

We speak bad about ourselves, sure - we are one country but we arent pan nigerian, in a way you people over there are ahead because you are already pan african, you think as one black tribe. Once we become pan nigerian, we can become pan african.

Do you mind answering this so I can sort it out: do you also, like the Jamaicans, resent us because of slavery? And why us, more than Ghanians? What role do you think we had? What do you think we could have done better, when we first came to the US after independence, what should we have done?

What do Ghanians do that is different in terms of speaking? I dont think we should keep being hostile with each other. I am curious because they are the gold coast but you people tend to love them and want to do business and work with them.

Also, what do you think on your part as far as media education that can be done on your end? I will try on my end. Two people against 170 million. We will try.

Note: I will be off for a moment but I will be back.

Please comment. Watch video.
I think the divide is real. One black American said that we sold them. A Jamaican said he resented us, that we did nothing to help. I notice with the black Americans - not all, but those blacks dont like Nigerians. Note: I have some black American friends that I get along with who are Pan African, but they seem to focus on other areas and dont like our personality! Frankly, they only like Ghana from the West. I think thats largely because their admiration of Nkrumah.

I asked this Jamaican - he is like my brother, but I asked him..why dont Jamaicans claim African? What did I do that for? I got lectured! It got heated! Subsequently, Ive been on a quest to find out if any of his claims are valid. Oh and my Jamaican friend favors Ethiopia not us! Claims he is treated better!

Also, please check out my thread and answer if your family told you or passed down info on the slave relatives please! Thanks!

I want to know if their anger is justified? I stood up for them before but his anger seemed like it boiled for us!

I don't think this is true. The guy who says this on his twitter account is someone who posted the dandest thing. Did you see his post about semen...gosh!

Can't wait to hear what everyone else has to say.
Haha! I am curious because I have heard this a lot, in one way or another.

1. You people sold us.
2. Recently, you guys never came for us.

And with one American, not bashing them at all but, she said where are you from - with a big smile. I said: Nigeria. Her smile vanished. She responded, I thought you were from Ghana...they are nicer.

Just a little social experiment I guess. I never really let it bother me until last week, I guess I thought the socially aware would find us, we'd find each other.

And yes his twitter can be crazy at times lol. I too hope people respond and are not offended.

Ok requested, to answer the original question, it's highly unlikely that any of my family members were ever sent as slaves to the Americas. Most people enslaved were not Fulani unless they came from Fouta Djallon, but Fulani and Senegambians in general were not enslaved as much. Some Wolof though were.
Thank you my brother!! Maybe we can build bridges!!

Im afraid though that my know it all uncle might be right, by your answer!!

What are your thoughts on this?

I saw this on twitter. . (https://mobile.twitter.com/BruhSarcastic) "Blacks hate Africans cause they didn't come rescue them during slavey." And I just had a debate two weeks ago with a Jamaican about his resentment.

I have a related thread to research further if you care to follow it up. Ill give my findings.

Note: He says a lot of truth on his timeline, ignore the "sarcastic" part of his name in otherwords.

Note: American blacks correct me if I am wrong - you guys like Ghanians more, some say, Id like to know why.

Lets rebuild!

I

The. Answer to this question is dicey and must be tackled systematically ...majority of families in sub Sahara Africa was taken by slavery but the snag is that we do not have records of who and which family was taken as slaves ....I mean we are just inventing data centers to store data ...the only bet is genetics

Can we know the basis of the argument bro so that I can give you my own submission.

I don't don't want to be the man that was not there when the burial ceremony was going on and he was told to exhume ..he will start by the leg ...Igbo proverb

So what's the argthe argument about it
Ok! So glad you came in!

I will give you a detailed background, didnt want to bore anyone!

MORE DETAILED BACKGROUND:
The argument brought to me from a British Jamaican that the reason the first diaspora is disconnected from Africans is because not only did we help sell them, we didnt come to find them either.

I argued that we didnt have a method, it was chaotic. I presented this to my elder (85) and he argued with me that many if not all were killed so there is virtually none of their ancestors left on the continent. He didnt say a percentage, but how he described the finite number, itd be less than 1%. That seems too low.

Then I told him that the tests were marking some of them back to Africa. He claimed (and keep in mind he has no experience with these tests but he insisted!) that the tests only show that they are African, as he believes that we are all going to test as related kin.

RECAP: So my question is ...is he (my uncle) right, that many were starved and killed..those that were not captured, their family members were killed? Or, am I right...there was too much confusion to pass it on? Or is my Jamaican friend right that they knew and simply didnt pass the story on as time went on..it didnt matter?

Thanks for the records/data info! My family never said we had slaves in an away land!

DAYS 'WITHOUT FOOD & WATER’ LIBERIAN ‘EBOLA PRISONER’ IN KENYA

Written by Rodney D. Sieh, rodney.sieh@frontpag eafricaonline.com
Published: 16 October 2014

“I’m pregnant, but was made to sleep on a hard bench, it’s not even a bed, for over 24 hours without food, water or anything, can you imagine, this is the room, that’s the toilet, this is me.” - Monique Tata Allison
In the past week, the stigmatization of Ebola hit new lows, not just for citizens of nations hardly-hit by the virus residing in western nations, but also for Africans within Africa, a sad reality Monique Tatu Allison discovered when she touched down at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport last Sunday.

“Can you imagine a Liberian citizen being detained in Kenya for over 24 hours in this kind of room, sleeping on this hard bed, I don’t even want to call it a bed, this hard bench?, a pregnant woman, from Brussels into Kenya Airport, “ Monique laments on a self-made video she made while in a holding room at the Kenyan airport.

Monique, who had flown into Nairobi to visit an aunt, Sharon Cooper told FrontPageAfrica Wednesday that immigration authorities in Kenya refused to allow her in. “They put me this room, detained me all day.” It took the intervention of Liberia’s Foreign Minister Augustine Ngafuan for the matter to be resolved.

Immigration authorities had threatened to send Monique back to Brussels, but after Minister Ngafuan called his counterpart in Nairobi, Monique was allowed to leave the airport and to see her aunt she had arrived in Kenya to visit. “I’m relieved but a bit disappointed, “she said Wednesday. “So much for African solidarity”.

Monique says since she touched down in Nairobi Sunday night about 11:15am Kenya time, she was booked as soon as immigration officers recognized her Liberian passport and suspected that she may have been infected with the virus but failed to give her a temperature test.

No African Solidarity

Monique lamented:“I’m pregnant, but was made to sleep on a hard bench, it’s not even a bed, for over 48 hours without food, water or anything, can you imagine, this is the room, that’s the toilet, this is me,” Monique narrates on the video she shared with FrontPageAfrica Wednesday.

Monique says after almost 48 hours in a detention room she was given a bottle of water and a food bag by the airline. “I guess you’re seeing a water bottle and a food bag. It’s not from the Kenyan government, it’s from the Brussels Airline. They brought in this food late last night(Tuesday) around 6 yesterday evening. I came in Sunday night. I did not eat until 6am yesterday morning(Tuesday) SN Brussels brought me this food and water and that’s it. The Kenyan government or the Kenyan immigration never even made an attempt to even give me water or food in this situation and we call ourselves Africans. How can you treat your fellow African in such a manner.”

Monique says she hopes other Africans, especially those hit hard by the virus would take note of her experience. “They are not good to Liberians and this is for all Africans because today it’s Liberia; tomorrow it could be someone from another country. Ebola is a disease, it’s a virus, it’s not only for one person, it’s not only for one country, as you can see I’m healthy enough, I’ve been in Europe for three months, I haven’t been to Africa. This is my first trip to Africa and you are accusing me of being sick. How is that possible? This is me. I want all Liberians to see this and learn from this.”

Stimatization Over Ebola

Ebola stigmatization is hitting a lot of countries affected by the virus hard. Last Saturday, members of the Sierra Leonean National team were humiliated when they arrived in Yaounde, Cameroun for their African Cup of Nations qualifying match. According to the BBC, fans taunted the players with chants of “Ebola” and some members of the opposing team hesitated to shaking their hands or engage in the traditional swapping of jerseys.

Sierra Leone, Like Liberia has banned football activities in country until further notice due to the Ebola outbreak. But the Leone Stars, on the Confederation of African Football (CAF) orders are being forced to play all of their matches in countries not hit by the virus.

The Seychelles forfeited a match in July rather than host Sierra Leone, but did not notify the visiting team until it was set to board a connecting flight in Nairobi, Kenya. Last month, while playing a designated “home” game in the group stage in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sierra Leone was mocked with chants of “Ebola, Ebola” from beginning to end in a 2-0 defeat.

Last week, Ghanaian midfielder Michael Essien, and his club AC Milan, were forced to deny internet rumors that the former Chelsea and Real Madrid star had contracted Ebola. Essien was left out of his country’s squad for a 1-1 draw in the African Cup of Nations qualifier in Guinea, which prompted rumors on Twitter that he had contracted the virus – something the 31-year-old was quick to deny. Essen posted on his Twitter account: “No truth in internet rumors that I have contracted Ebola. I am very well & I'm doing very good & will be training as usual tomorrow.#falsenews

On Tuesday, a Ghanaian student who was suspected to be carrying the Ebola disease and was wrapped in a black plastic in the Czech Republic, was reported to be traumatized although medical tests on the students later revealed the Ghanaian did not have the Ebola disease after being kept for about four hours by medical officers.

Also last week, another pregnant woman from Liberia was returned to Liberia for immigration violations after being detained at O’Hare International Airport and sent to a Wisconsin jail, where she was monitored for the Ebola virus as a precaution – despite showing no signs of the illness, officials said. The woman, who was not publicly identified, was detained by U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the airport and deemed inadmissible for immigration reasons, according to a statement from protection officials. As a routine procedure, because she was pregnant, she was sent to the medical unit at the Kenosha County Jail.

Kenya Regretted Incident

Liberia’s Foreign Minister Augustine Ngafuan told FrontPageAfrica Wednesday that he intervened to have Monique released after receiving a call from Charles Yates, a Liberian journalist who said that a pregnant Liberian woman was stranded at the airport in Nairobi.

“They had practically held her at the airport since Sunday and they were not allowing her to go and they were trying to deport her to Brussels. So, I got in touch with my colleague the minister of foreign affairs in Kenya, Amina Mohammed. We discussed among other things, the return of Kenya Airways to Liberia and then I brought up the issue of Monique.

“She (Mohammed) regretted the incident and said she would try to intervene and she did. She called the girl and tried to console her. Monique was reportedly about to board the plane back to Brussels when Mohammed prevailed on her not to do so and she was taken to see her aunt. Minister Ngafuan said Monique sounded hysterical on the phone and had thoughts of a miscarriage. “I told her to just be patient and don’t do anything out of the ordinary that will make any harm to come to you and harm yourself.

I called the aunt; everyone was frustrated, but we prevailed on them to exercise patience. Luckily, this morning, apparently as soon as my colleague woke up and notified us personally Monique was released to her aunt. Minister Ngafuan has in recent weeks been pressing African Union members to curtail stigmatization of citizens from Ebola-hit nations.

AU Against Stigmatization

The minister the extraordinary meeting of the Executive Council of the African Union on the Ebola Outbreak in September: “If we allow hysteria and paranoia to underpin our reactions to this Ebola outbreak, we would create a legacy of blanket stigmatization and unnecessary restrictions, which would be tantamount to unwittingly writing a dangerous prescription for how countries on our continent should be treated whenever they get afflicted with any public health challenge in the future. It is this grim possibility that we all, as African nations, must avoid by revisiting all measures that are not consistent with expert advice, but only fly in the face of African solidarity and integration.”

The African Union (AU) this week reiterated its concern over the position by some African countries against citizens from Ebola stricken countries. The Union says the refusal to lift all travelling bans imposed on all citizens of affected countries has increased economic burdens on those countries which are Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone. The concerns were raised following Botswana's direct defiance of the AU's calls to lift all travelling bans. The AU's Sissy Potgieter says they will engage with all countries refusing to lift the bans. "If business people cannot fly to the countries it will have a direct impact on the economy. We made an appeal to countries to lift the travel bans."

The Botswana Health Ministry says it will continue to monitor all Ebola-affected countries before deciding whether to lift the travel bans. For Monique, the humiliation in Nairobi was painful and demoralizing. “I was humiliated by these Kenyan immigration people and through this whole Ebola thing. “I hope that others will learn from this. “We are Africans; we don’t want to be going through this in Kenya, even if you were from Sierra Leone, Ghana, Guinea, Nigeria or anywhere in Africa.”

Protectionism is part of human existence and the doctrine of survival is inborn

Self preservation is the first law of survival and notwithstanding the claims of civilisation, humans are still primitive when their existence and survival are threatened hence they tend to apply Darwin's Law of Survival which has been called the Law of the Jungle: - "Kill the child before it becomes a tiger hunter". Do not let species who are potentially stronger than you, grow big enough to kill you. Because they will eventually kill you."

Based on the above postulation, we try to persuade the acceptable standard while giving room for humanity to evolve at different pace.

Tut tut..seems like nature figured if she couldnt burn the reject alive, shed stop you from reproducing - shame http://www.nbcnews.com/health/womens-health/worlds-first-womb-transplant-mother-hopes-inspire-others-n219851 , should I go get the article that said that one of your deformed flat bottom women needed an artificial womb? Shame - Africans are too kind, we should do what nature itself is doing to you: kill you all

black people will always be at the bottom of the racial totem pole . black symbolizes darkness, ignorance, intolerance and backwardness .
white symbolizes light,enlightenment, innovation ,progress,understanding,tolerance,etc.
I had a phobia of a very dark skin person as a kid even when no one ever taught me about race.Although I like Michael Jordan as a talented legend, the ugly truth is that I am afraid of michael jordan and will be very scared to be with him alone .
sub saharan black physical features are not very appealing . most good looking blacks have a eurocentric feature such as pointed nose,or light skin, light brown skin ,light brown eyes ,etc.
So you want me to believe that a red blistering allergic to the sun white ape can comment on a skin tone that youre killing yourself to get?

You are allergic to the one thing that sustains ALL life: the sun. THINK long and hard on this. You are by NATURE allergic to the sun, a UTILITY needed for life itself. THE SUN. And in fact, you had to MANUFACTURE a life bubble ie sun tan lotion to accommodate natures REJECTION.

Once more, anyone that has had four courses of biology could proudly say: You are a universal reject, to be honest..a spawn of sorts. Do you think that the odds are actually in your favor when you not only have recessive genes, the source of LIFE hates you. Burn baby burn.

And because of this fact, you are torturing the Africans and the blacks worldwide. You are cursed. Nature knows you are cursed. She didnt expect you to live this long, but youre here. People like you fascinate me, coming to a NIGERIAN forum, black indigenous site...watching us like the sickos you are.

Pretty soon we will all unite

Which men are weighing in. I want to know them please. I dont know any sincere persons yet.
So you cant discern what a thoughtful opinion is?
You mean to tell me that you cant understand the men that have either said:

AFTER WATCHING THE VIDEO OR READING THE ARTICLE...THEY HAVE EITHER SAID (by consensus)

(A) that is what we get for seeking a better place in foreign land instead of building in Africa
(B) this is a shame - the sudanese are forced out and we need more empathy

You cant even understand the diverse opinions that are expressed in the historical and lineage debate?

Or are you just a vapid individual that finds nothing useful if you didnt orchestrate it, or are you just a do-nothing critic that would rather yawn, remain neutral, sigh...as others try ..to create dialogue, or are you just satisfied with lofty dreams, or how about this...are you the type that would much rather hide behind critiques instead of creating your own? Or are you the elder that has nothing interesting to add...but would much rather go ANYwhere there is a flicker of life and attest to how boring a thing is?

Because to me? Every gentleman that came in here that thoughtfully weighed in expressed themselves quite effectively.

I am sorry but I wont let you distract me either. This thread is for black Africans (and YES we need the distinction now) that had an opinion on the GROWING anti-african sentiment..and these men did just fine.

If YOU have a solution, by all means share it.
