Neymar is a fantastic player but he is emotionally unstable. He is also injury prone. Bartomeu and co have taken FC Barcelona to a new level. A very low one. I was against the fee that was paid for Dembele. I am against Griezmann coming into the club. The club's philosophy is dead. Either Coutinho or Dembele has to leave as it stands. Leaders and elders from various geopolitical zones across the country have endorsed Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as their preferred candidate. This formed part of the resolutions at a meeting tagged: ‘Summit of Nigerian Leaders and Elders’, held at Ladi Kwali Hall, Sheraton Hotel, Abuja, on Sunday. Present at the meeting were leaders of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Northern Elders Forum, Pan-Niger Delta forum, the Middle Belt Forum, as well as a faction of Afenifere, the Yoruba socio-political group. Participants at the forum said they agreed on endorsing Atiku after meeting with various presidential candidates. They said the decision not to support President Muhammadu Buhari, currently seeking reelection on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was based on the current President’s loss of control of government. They also accused the President of dividing the country. Among those who attended the meeting were: Ayo Fasanmi (Afenifere), Dr Pogu Bitrus (Middle Belt Forum), Ango Abdullahi (Northern Elders Forum), Edwin Clark (Pan Niger Delta Forum), John Nwodo (Ohanaeze Ndigbo) and Buba Galadima. http://saharareporters.com/2019/02/03/just-afenifere-ohanaeze-ndigbo-northern-elders-forum-endorse-atiku |

The Chamber of the Nigerian Senate The Nigerian Senate has filed a case at the Supreme Court to seek clarification on the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen. Relying on an order from the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), President Muhammadu Buhari last Friday suspended the chief justice replacing him with another Supreme Court justice, Tanko Mohammed. On Monday, the Senate approached the apex court seeking its interpretation on whether President Buhari acted within the provision of the constitution in his suspension of Mr Onnoghen. The Senate also wants the court to determine whether the action of the president does amount to usurpation of the powers of the Senate as provided for in Section 292 of the constitution. The section states conditions for removal of a chief justice but fails to clarify the difference between temporary removal and permanent removal. “Following the filing of the case, the matter of the suspension of the CJN which is the main issue for which the Senate had planned to reconvene tomorrow, has become subjudiced,” a statement signed by Yusuph Olaniyonu, media aide to Senate President Bukola Saraki says. “Therefore, in line with the standing rules of the Senate not to debate issues that are already pending before the court, the reconvening of the Senate tomorrow has been put off. The previous adjournment of the Senate till February 19, 2019, stays source: https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/308478-breaking-onnoghen-senate-approaches-supreme-court-suspends-plan-to-reconvene.html |

BREAKING: Atiku arrives US, to speak at Chamber of Commerce Mayowa Tijani in On the GoTop Stories Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), will be speaking at the United States Chamber of Commerce in DC on Friday, TheCable can report. The former vice-president is expected to speak at the Chamber of Commerce on Friday, from 2:30pm to 4pm. The private roundtable, which is hosted by the US Chamber of Commerce and the US Africa Business Centre, is expected to hold at 1615 H street, NW 20062. TheCable had reported that Atiku had been issued with a US visa for the first time in 13 years. TheCable can also confirm that the former vice-president, who has been unable to enter the US for years, arrived in the US on Thursday. His row with the US authorities began after the FBI investigated a bribery scandal involving William Jefferson, former US congressman, in 2004. The All Progressives Congress (APC) has repeatedly said he was running away from investigations by the US authorities. Adams Oshiomhole, the national chairman of the APC, had said Atiku could not travel everywhere, asking Nigerians to elect President Muhammadu Buhari whom he said could go everywhere. “We have a president whose integrity cannot be faulted anywhere in the world, but the PDP has a presidential candidate who can only travel to Dubai,” Oshiomhole had said. Atiku was accused of demanding a bribe of $500,000 to facilitate the award of contracts to two American telecommunication firms in Nigeria. The FBI had searched his residence in the posh neighbourhood of Potomac, Maryland, but no money was found. The investigators had videotaped Jefferson, who was the congressman representing Louisiana, receiving $100,000 worth of $100 bills which he claimed was meant for Atiku, but the former vice-president has consistently denied the allegation. Former president Olusegun Obasanjo was said to have been very instrumental in the process which made the US grant Atiku the visa. Atiku is expected to hold consultative forum with Nigerians in diaspora, as TheCable initially reported.
