I didn't deny that guidance is needed to understand the Bible. In fact Acts 8:30 that you quoted shows that it was the Holy Spirit that guided Philip to speak to the Ethiopian eunuch. All I want to know is where in the Bible we are told that in the end times, a man called Charles Taze russell will be sent to guide us into Biblical truth, because the Bible says something VERY different: John 16:13 “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth…”The Bible tells us that it is the Holy Spirit who interprets Biblical truth to us. So do JWs believe that Charles Taze Russell is the Holy Spirit? MaxInDHouse: I already told you that Russell has his own flaws regarding the accuract knowledge of God but at least you have seen that someone needs to guide another to the understanding of God's word but Russell was wrong because after Jesus it's a group that was chosen to lead the Christians not just a man.
Today what we have is broader than the understanding of Russell that is why he wasn't given the name God wanted to call His worshipers during the end time.
It's was fifteen years after his death that God gave us a new group name so Charles Taze Russell never knew the name God wanted to give His worshipers in the end time, in fact he was celebrating Christmas and other pagan festivals that should tell you that he is not the founder of this group as many people thought.🙂 |

There's asking for guidance which is what Acts 8:30 is talking about, then there's making a categorical statement that guidance can only come from YOU and that anyone who seeks to understand the Bible outside of your guidance will go into spiritual darkness within 2 years. So what Mr Russell was saying is that for 2,000 years, nobody was practicing true Christianity until he came along. All I'm asking JWs to do, is point me in the direction of a scripture which commands all Christians to learn their theology from Charles Taze russell. This shouldn't be difficult for you. MaxInDHouse: Charles himself also missed a lot about accurate knowledge of God's word but regarding his statement about someone guiding you to understand the Bible please read the Bible book of Act 8:30-31 There you will see where a Bible believer asked another person to guide him into the understanding of God's word! |

Actually what he said, was that if you do not follow his method of understanding the Bible, you will go into spiritual darkness within 2 years if you try to study the Bible on your own. Can you show me any Biblical verse that justifies his statement? AkinwaleJJ: Before the revised standard whoever is reading the KJV version will continue to go blind spiritually speaking.
For instance the only version that has made its adherents a global family today is the New World Translation published by Watchtower.
Please present any other version of the Bible that those using it don't participate in worldly politics and wars! |

Why did Charles Taze Russell say that reading the Bible causes spiritual blindness? MaxInDHouse: On the contrary JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES is the name the only true God gave His worshipers after separating faithless people from among His faithful servants.
You will leave behind a name that my chosen ones will use as a curse, And the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will put each of you to death, But his own servants he will call by another name. Isaiah 65:15
The name false religionists and pagans took is Christians thinking that is the name God wants His worshipers to be called but you have all lost it because there are worshipers of God before the time of Jesus and they are not Christians and for your information the name "CHRISTIANS" was given to Jesus' first century disciples in a city called Antioch {Act 11:26} before then followers of Christ were first called "disciples of the Nazarene", later they began calling them "people belonging to the Way" and finally they were called CHRISTIANS.
Even though they knew this people were really devoted and ready to practice the things Jesus taught them yet they were using all these names to mock them but the disciples of Christ welcomed it all as they were ready to be counted unworthy of honor along with their leader.
So continue deceiving yourself because that group name "CHRISTIANS" has been bastardized today with so many atrocities committed in that group name that is why if i should ask you now to tell us on this forum the name of the church where you worship as a Christian you can never ever mention any reputable name due to shame of all the atrocities leaders of your so called Christian churches have committed that is why all of you keep hiding under that group name "CHRISTIANS" as lawlessness has made you unproductive so you have now turned that name to an idol that you keep worshiping while criticizing one another. 🙂
According to Jesus his real disciples will be known globally as active preachers and teachers of God's word in all their neighborhood {Act 1:8} they will have love among themselves {John 13:34-35} they will not participate in worldly politics {John 17:14-16} and people of all other religions will hate them. John 15:18
Now tell me which religion fulfilled all of these today apart from JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES?
So if you are claiming Christian yet you can't mention the name of your church we know the reason why.
You are all hiding behind idols while claiming worshipers of God! Revelation 6:16🙂 |

Jesus NEVER said He was not good. He merely ASKED why the term was being applied to Himself. He was testing the man who called Him good. Jesus didn't have a problem with being called "good". He referred to Himself as the Good Shepherd: John 10:11 "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep" Jesus is God in human form. He is Eternal and has no beginning or end. BodyCount: So you people know better than the Jews and people who lived during the life of Jesus who rejec him? Politics › Nigeria Emerges As Global Epicenter Of Hunger For 2026 by BlackViper(op): 5:37am On Feb 18 |
Nigeria tops global hunger hot spots list; 32 million face acute food crisis
Nigeria has emerged as the epicenter of the world’s worsening hunger crisis, with 31.8 million people projected to face acute food insecurity in 2026, according to a new report by U.S.-based humanitarian group Action Against Hunger. The figure makes Nigeria the single largest food crisis globally, more than India who is several times more populous, underscoring the scale of economic strain and insecurity battering Africa’s most populous nation. The organization’s 2026 Global Hunger Hot Spots report, which draws on data from the State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World and the Global Report on Food Crises, estimates that 295 million people across 59 countries are facing acute food insecurity. Nearly two-thirds of them live in just 10 countries — with Nigeria topping the list. In northeastern states such as Borno, Adamawa and Yobe, more than 15 years of insurgency linked to Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) have devastated farming communities and disrupted food production. The crisis deepened in 2024 when severe flooding destroyed an estimated 1.1 million hectares of farmland, compounding already fragile supply chains. The humanitarian fallout is stark. An estimated 5.4 million Nigerian children are suffering from acute malnutrition, while inflation hovering around 35% has eroded purchasing power, forcing families to choose between food, medicine and shelter. “Conflict, climate shocks and economic collapse are pushing millions to the brink,” the report said, warning that funding shortfalls could further escalate conditions in 2026. Crisis MultiplierNigeria’s ranking places it ahead of Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo, which each have 25.6 million people facing acute food insecurity amid conflict and displacement. But unlike Sudan, where famine has already been declared in some regions, Nigeria’s crisis is being driven by a volatile mix of insecurity, extreme weather and macroeconomic instability, the report said. The report highlights climate change as a “crisis multiplier.” Erratic rainfall, floods and prolonged dry spells are undermining agricultural output in vulnerable regions. In Nigeria’s riverine and northern farming belts, recurring climate shocks have collided with insecurity, limiting farmers’ ability to plant and harvest safely. At the same time, international humanitarian financing is shrinking. The United States recently announced an 83% reduction in USAID humanitarian programs, with additional cuts from major European donors. A Lancet study cited in the report estimated that USAID-funded programs saved more than 90 million lives over two decades. Sustained reductions, it warned, could result in millions of preventable deaths globally by 2030. For Nigeria, which relies heavily on donor-funded nutrition and emergency food programs in conflict-affected regions, the implications are severe. Aid agencies caution that reduced funding may force the closure of health and nutrition facilities, cutting off lifelines for vulnerable children and pregnant women. Across the 13 most critical hunger contexts identified globally, nearly 30 million children are acutely malnourished, including 8.5 million at severe risk of death without treatment. Nigeria accounts for a significant share of that burden. Action Against Hunger said the crisis remains preventable with coordinated intervention, including climate adaptation in agriculture, protection for vulnerable groups and sustained humanitarian funding. But with insecurity persisting in the northeast, inflation squeezing households nationwide and global aid budgets under pressure, Nigeria’s food crisis risks deepening in 2026 – a development that could further strain social stability in Africa’s largest economy. https://pluboard.com/2026/02/12/food/nigeria-tops-global-hunger-crisis-2026-report/Mynd44 Lalasticlala Nlfpmod

Science/Technology › Rita Orji Appointed To UN Panel On AI by BlackViper(op): 12:27pm On Feb 16 |
Nigerian Professor Chosen Out Of 2,600 World Wide Candidates For UN Panel On AI
A Nigerian-born computer scientist has been appointed to one of the United Nations’ most important new technology bodies.
Rita Orji, a professor at Dalhousie University in Canada, has been selected as one of 40 global experts to serve on the UN’s Independent International Scientific Panel on Artificial Intelligence. She will serve a three-year term.
The panel was created by the UN General Assembly in August 2025 to provide independent scientific advice on artificial intelligence – including its development, risks, ethical use and global impact. It will guide international discussions under the UN’s Global Dialogue on AI Governance.
“In a world where AI is racing ahead, this Panel will provide what’s been missing — rigorous, independent scientific insight that enables all Member States, regardless of their technological capacity, to engage on an equal footing,” UN Secretary-General António Guterres said in a statement announcing the initiative.
Born in Enugu State and raised in Owelli, Orji studied computer science at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, graduating with First Class Honours. She later earned a master’s degree from Middle East Technical University before completing her PhD at University of Saskatchewan in 2014. She was the first woman from her hometown to obtain a doctorate.
Today, she holds the Canada Research Chair in Persuasive Technology at Dalhousie and directs the university’s Persuasive Computing Lab. Her research focuses on human-centred AI — designing technologies that promote health, well-being and social good, particularly for underserved populations.
Dalhousie praised her appointment, highlighting her long-standing advocacy for inclusive and equitable AI development. “Rita is a powerhouse,” said Dr. Nur Zincir-Heywood, Associate Dean of Research in the Faculty of Computer Science. “We are continually impressed with her accomplishments and the incredible way she represents our Faculty and institution.”
The 40-member UN panel was chosen from more than 2,600 candidates worldwide and is designed to be geographically diverse and gender balanced. Its mission is to provide impartial scientific assessments of AI’s opportunities and risks, helping countries — including developing nations — navigate the fast-moving technology landscape.
Artificial intelligence is already reshaping finance, health care, education and national security. But it also raises concerns about job displacement, bias, misinformation and data privacy. The UN panel aims to ensure that global AI governance is informed by independent science rather than corporate or geopolitical interests. https://pluboard.com/2026/02/14/vanguard/nigerian-canadian-computer-scientist-rita-orji-appointed-to-un-panel-of-ai/

Politics › "They Roasted The Pastor & His Wife Alive In Plateau Church" - Daily Mail by BlackViper(op): 10:12am On Feb 15 |
British investigative journalist for the Daily Mail, David Patrikarakos visits areas affected by Fulani insurgents in Plateau State
Driving through the vast, scorched landscape, I hear the words that have followed me all day. ‘They roasted the pastor and his wife alive in the church. We heard their screams."
Plateau State stretches to the horizon. Rich black soil that once grew cassava and sugar cane is now ash. Trees are encrusted with soot. Fields of maize that shone gold in the sun are grey and lifeless, stalk after stalk standing in formation like an army frozen in defeat.
Bricks lie scattered in the scrub. Concrete blocks jut from the earth like jagged teeth. Roofs have collapsed inward.
And then come the churches.
Burned-out shell after burned-out shell. Crosses broken. Windows blown through. One has been gutted by fire, another reduced to rubble.
It’s as though someone has tried to erase every visible sign of Christianity from this land
For more than two decades, this stretch of Nigeria’s Middle Belt – the faultline where the largely Muslim north meets the predominantly Christian south – has convulsed in recurring waves of bloodshed.
According to the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project, thousands have been killed in one state alone since the early 2000s. Nigeria’s Security Tracker estimates that more than 60,000 people have died nationwide in communal and insurgent violence since 2011.
Yet outside Africa, the carnage rarely holds attention. It pierced Western consciousness in 2014 when Boko Haram abducted more than 270 schoolgirls, sparking the global #BringBackOurGirls campaign and drawing figures such as Michelle Obama into the outcry – and then it faded. It flared briefly again last Christmas when Donald Trump ordered air strikes against jihadist targets in the region following renewed attacks on Christian communities, thrusting Nigeria into the centre of American political debate. Then it slipped from the headlines once more.
And yet the religious faultline running through Nigeria mirrors anxieties reshaping politics across Europe and America: identity, migration, demography, religious coexistence. In Nigeria, those tensions are simply sharper – and bloodier.
Nigeria is home to more than 220million people and is projected to approach 400million within decades, on course to become one of the world’s most populous nations.
Plateau State, roughly the size of Belgium, has around four million people wedged into a fragile mosaic of farming villages and grazing routes layered over fertile land and mineral deposits. Add rapid population growth, climate pressures, weak institutions and the long shadow of the jihadist group Boko Haram’s insurgency – which has killed tens of thousands – and the combustible mix becomes clear.
In the face of all this, calling the violence here merely a ‘farmer–herder conflict’, as government officials try to do, begins to sound like a diplomatic euphemism. It’s true that land is in high demand and grazing routes are contested. But that explanation alone feels inadequate when you witness for yourself the ruins of so many churches – and hear the stories of so many slaughtered Christians.
We arrive in the village of Gwet, parking by a collection of abandoned houses, destroyed fields and another ruined church. In truth, we’re not exactly welcome. The people who committed these atrocities – Muslim Fulani herdsmen – can be seen in the distance: the new, unchallenged masters of this once devoutly Christian area.
I’m told that they’d normally slaughter any stranger who dared to come – but unfortunately for them, earlier this morning I met the honourable Dachahat Tongpan, secretary general of the Local Government Area (LGA). This part of the Plateau State has a troubled history.
In 2024, a sickening video circulated online of a Muslim mob beheading a young Christian man here and killing a family of five, including three children. The people remember. After he learned that I had come to investigate violence against Christians, the Secretary General insisted on providing an armed escort
‘You need to see ground zero,’ he told me.
The truck-mounted heavy machine gun would ensure the Fulani left us unmolested.
But word spread. Some Christians who once lived here took the chance to return to their homes for the first time since they were driven out. Reverend Iliya Ayuba Fwangle is the local area chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria. As we stand together amid the devastation, he turns to me. His immaculate, pinstriped suit clashes with the devastated landscape.
‘We are being displaced,’ he says. ‘Our people cannot farm. Our children cannot go to school. We pray you go back and tell the world about the genocide we Christians are experiencing here.’
The pattern has been identical across the years and locations. Night raids. Armed, baying men descending on sleeping Christian communities. Houses torched; men, women and children cut down or slaughtered in their beds; churches set ablaze. By dawn, whole settlements are smoking ruins.
‘Jonas’ is 29 years old. He cradles his metal machete like a comfort blanket. ‘For firewood,’ he says, ‘but also’, he adds, looking at the Fulani in the distance, ‘for protection.’ We stand in the blackened remains of his family home. This is the first time he’s dared to come back since May 16, 2023: the day his world was destroyed.
He starts to remember. Early that morning, Fulani families had been seen nearby gathering cattle and belongings, moving in unusually large numbers. Within hours they stormed his village screaming ‘Allahu Akbar’ and calling the Christians living there infidels. They fired into homes, chased families out and burned everything they could. They were methodical in their savagery. ‘We were terrified,’ he tells me. ‘We ran and hid in the bush and then fled.’ ‘We cannot forget what they did to us,’ says Patricia, left. The Fulani shot her husband dead in front of her.
Ten people once lived in his home: his parents, wife and younger brothers. They were farmers. Now the Fulani cattle graze the family’s field beyond their ruined church .
The Islamists murdered Jonas’s father: he shows me the very spot. ‘I shouted to him to run,’ he says. ‘Then I turned around and saw they had shot him. He was lying in his own blood.’ Thirteen people were killed in this village of around 800.
‘The churches are always their main target,’ he says. It is an attack at the heart of their faith. A message written in fire. Christian advocacy group Open Doors reported that the vast majority of Christians killed for their faith globally (between October 2024 and September 2025) were murdered in Nigeria.
Government sources reject the claim, arguing the violence is driven by competition over land, farming and resources rather than religion. Yet when the killing comes, it is often Christian villages that burn
To drive between villages in Plateau State is to run a gauntlet of checkpoints. These range from official military installations with guard-huts and sandbags to a tree branch dragged across the road. Many are manned by men wearing ‘Special Forces’ emblazoned across faded uniforms – a promiscuous term out here.
We have to be careful, my fixer Abdullahi warns, because bandits erect fake checkpoints to rob travellers – especially at night. We round a bend and another checkpoint comes into view. An armed man leans into our window, looking intently at me. I brace for an interrogation. Then he puts his hand to his mouth: asking for money to eat.
‘Not so Special Forces,’ Abdullahi mutters.
The following morning, we pull into a churchyard smothered in the yellow dirt characteristic of the region. I’m here to meet several ‘internally displaced persons’ (IDP), in the humanitarian jargon – yet more victims of Muslim violence. We are going to discuss one of the worst atrocities in living memory: the Christmas Massacres of 2023.
In 48 blood-spattered hours between December 23 and Christmas Day, mobs attacked at least 17 rural communities in the Plateau areas of Bokkos and Barkin Ladi, murdering at least 200 and injuring 500 more. Although no group claimed responsibility, residents insist it was the Fulani.
They also insist the date was deliberate. In the days before the attacks, warnings had circulated: ‘Be careful how you celebrate Christmas – or you may not celebrate at all.’
Inside a surviving church in Bokkos, I take a chair by the stage alongside a lectern and a drum kit. Music is important to Nigeria’s Christians.
Reverend Silas Caleb Dang takes up the story. As Christians across the world prepared to celebrate the birth of their Saviour, gunfire ripped through the hills here. Houses were already burning when one pastor ran inside his church, locked the door and knelt at the altar.
‘He went inside the church to pray to Jesus,’ he tells me. ‘And they burned him alive.’
In nearby Muong village, the horror was repeated. At around 5pm on Christmas Eve 2023, gunshots were heard in neighbouring villages. By 6.30pm, the attackers were closing in. Sunday B. Randong, a retired civil servant now also displaced, went to the Special Task Force office in Bokkos to raise the alarm, but the officers just laughed and said they lacked personnel.
Soon after, the mob arrived. ‘They torched a house with the pastor’s wife and her five children trapped inside,’ he says, sitting across from me in a mustard-coloured kaftan.
‘They were Fulani. We know this because we heard their names as they shouted to each other: “Burn this house! Burn that house!”
‘It was an anti-Christian attack, no doubt,’ he concludes. ‘They screamed, “Allahu Akbar!” as they fired, calling us all infidels.’
Women and children fled toward a nearby stream, hoping the darkness would hide them, but the Fulani were already there, waiting, Reverend Silas says. ‘They butchered 23 women, children and elderly.’
Across the surrounding villages, local leaders say more than 64 were killed over several days. More than 1,300 houses were destroyed. Churches were gutted. Food stores were looted. Later, cattle were driven into Christian irrigation fields to destroy their crops.
Reverend John Dakwat believes that, apart from any disputes over land or cattle rustling, Christian communities are attacked because of their religion.‘Any village they enter, they make sure they burn the church and kill our holy men,’ he says.
‘They tell us, “If you build a new church, one day we will make it a mosque.”’
In Jos, Plateau’s state capital – at the centre of Nigeria’s religious divide – I see church crucifixes just streets away from minarets. The call to prayer echoes above the corrugated shacks, while the occasional peal of worship music carries in the air.
And, I am repeatedly told, there can never be peace among Christians and Muslims here.
‘We cannot forget what they did to us,’ says Patricia, as her infant children sit beside her in an IDP camp, staring emptily into space. The Fulani shot her husband dead in front of her. Patricia has been in the camp for three years now, with little hope of either returning home or improving her life.
Each morning, she sends her tiny children to the rubbish tip to scavenge for anything they can sell to buy food.
I want to hear the other side of the story. Muslim communities have long claimed Christians rustle their cattle and attack their villages. The Christians say these attacks are only ever reprisals for Muslim violence.
Back in Jos, we drive through narrow streets filled with hawkers aggressively peddling their wares: for a while, a man sprints alongside our car brandishing a dead chicken.
I meet Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, chairman of a national Salafi (the strict, orthodox branch of Sunni Islam) organisation. The community here, he tells me, faces discrimination at every level: especially politically.
‘We are the majority in Plateau,’ he says. ‘Yet we have never had a Muslim governor. We have no voice.’ He speaks of earlier crises – going all the way back to 1960 – and of repeated attacks where hundreds of Muslims were killed, mosques burned and markets destroyed.
‘What surprises us,’ he says, ‘is that America and Britain talk about “human rights”. But when Muslims are killed, they are silent.’
He leans forward. Boko Haram, the Nigerian jihadist group, he tells me, is no mere home-grown insurgency. ‘There are people who say America and Israel created Boko Haram to destabilise Nigeria.’ He offers no evidence. But it’s clear that he, and his followers in the room, believe it sincerely.
When I raise the killings of Christians in Plateau, he doesn’t deny them. He simply insists the story is not one-sided. He recounts an alleged attack on Eid prayers in 2011, claiming worshippers were killed and cars burned. He barely escaped with his life. ‘We chose the law,’ he says. ‘We did not retaliate.’
Both sides believe they are the victims. Neither is inclined to yield.
As we drive away from this troubled region for the last time, I find myself thinking about something that happened the previous day in Jos’s city centre.
We had paused at a traffic light. On the pavement nearby, a small boy clutching a battered toy stared at me through the car window and followed my gaze to the church across the intersection. Then, he slowly lifted his fingers and, smiling, made the sign of the cross. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-15558203/Churches-fields-families-Nigerian-Christians-jihadists-frontlines.html

Crime › 'Imam' Wisam Sharieff Who Said Sex Can Bring People Closer To God, Arrested by BlackViper(op): 12:45pm On Feb 14 |
Tiktok Preacher Who Said Sex Can Bring People Closer To God, Arrested For Influencing 7 Year Old To Watch Põrn
A man who claimed to be an instructor in the Quran, and one of his online students have been sentenced to federal prison for their roles in a conspiracy to sexually exploit a child.
According to U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona, using the title of “Imam,” Wisam Sharieff, 44, of Euless, Texas, served as an online instructor specializing in Quran recitation and claimed to have taught over 25,000 students worldwide.
Escalona’s office said Blake Miller Barakat, also known as “Hamna,” 51, of Shelby County, was one of Sharieff’s online students.
According to court documents, Sharieff told Barakat that a person could improve their recitation of the Quran and become closer to Allah by achieving sexual pleasure. In October 2024, both Sharieff and Barakat repeatedly watched and shared adult pornography videos with each other online. They then reportedly influenced a 7-year-old to watch these videos.
Escalona’s office said that both Sharieff and Barakat further coerced that child to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of creating child pornography.
In June 2025, Sharieff pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of children and conspiracy to receive and distribute child pornography.
On Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026, a U.S. district judge sentenced Sharieff to 960 months, the equivalent of 80 years, in federal prison. He will be subject to a life term of supervised release following his prison term.
Escalona’s office said Sharieff was also ordered to pay a $135,000 special assessment under the Amy, Vicky and Andy Child Pornography Victim Assistance Act of 2018 (AVAA).
According to Escalona’s office, the Amy, Vicky and Andy Child Pornography Victim Assistance Act of 2018 (AVAA) created new penalties and made several changes to existing child pornography laws.
In passing the legislation, Congress intended for victims of child pornography to be compensated for the harms resulting from every perpetrator who contributes to their pain. The amounts received as AVAA special assessments are deposited in the Child Pornography Victims Reserve to pay defined monetary assistance to victims.
According to Escalona’s office, in June 2025, Barakat pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of children, distribution of child pornography and possession of child pornography. In October 2025, Barakat was sentenced to 840 months, the equivalent of 70 years, in federal prison, followed by a life term of supervised release.
Barakat was also ordered to pay a $30,000 AVAA special assessment.
Both Barakat and Sharieff were held in the Talladega County Jail for the U.S. Marshals.
The FBI Birmingham Division’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force investigated the case along with the FBI Dallas-Fort Worth Violent Crimes Task Force, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office in Alabama and the Euless Police Department in Texas.
“The exploitation of children is an egregious crime that demands immediate and decisive law enforcement action,” David R. Fitzgibbons, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Birmingham Division, said. “The FBI stands ready to exert maximum effort, with urgency and in lockstep with our partners, to protect children and hold these predators accountable.” https://www.wbrc.com/2026/02/02/online-religious-instructor-student-get-federal-prison-child-exploitation-conspiracy/?outputType=amp

Foreign Affairs › North Korean President Chooses 13-Year-Old Daughter As His Successor by BlackViper(op): 7:33am On Feb 13 |
Kim Jong-un has chosen his teenaged daughter to be his heir, South Korea has claimed.
Seoul’s spy agency told parliament on Thursday that Kim Ju-ae had been selected to lead North Korea when her father dies.
Ju-ae, the only publicly known child of Kim and his wife Ri Sol-ju, has become an increasingly present figure during tightly choreographed official appearances, provoking suspicion that she was being groomed to be her father’s successor.
South Korea’s National Intelligence Service (NIS) said it took a “range of circumstances” into account, including Ju-ae’s “increasingly prominent public presence at official events”.
They said it would be notable if she attends North Korea’s party congress later this month. It is the country’s largest political event that takes place every five years.
If she attends or receives a title at the party congress, speculation about her path to succession will “gain traction”, South Korean congressman Lee Seong-kweun told reporters on Thursday.
Kim Ju-ae is believed to be around 13 years old and is already taller than her father.
Ju-ae first appeared on state television in 2022 when she was seen inspecting North Korea’s latest intercontinental ballistic missile while holding her father’s hand.
Believed to be around 13 years old, she is already taller than her father and symbolically walks beside him.
Despite her young age, she has been dressed in mature outfits – pictured in fur-trimmed leather coats and sunglasses, high heels and tailored suits – and wears her hair down as opposed to the mandatory up-dos imposed on North Korean women.
She has accompanied her father on a number of military and social events, including to meet Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping in Beijing – Pyongyang’s most important allies.
‘Designated as successor’
“As Kim Ju-ae has shown her presence at various events, including the founding anniversary of the Korean People’s Army and her visit to the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, and signs have been detected of her voicing her opinion on certain state policies, the NIS believes she has now entered the stage of being designated as successor,” Mr Lee said.
The Kumsusan Palace of the Sun is seen as the most sacred place in North Korea. It is where Kim Jong-il and Kim Il-sung – Kim Jong-un’s father and grandfather who preceded him as North Korea’s leader – lie in state.
Still, the apparent choice of a young, female heir has sparked confusion, with defectors and analysts long predicting a male would be put in charge in accordance with the country’s deeply ingrained gender roles.
The NIS previously made the assessment that Kim has three children and the eldest is male.
Hans Horan, an analyst at 38 North, said a female successor would likely face “unique challenges” consolidating authority in such a patriarchal society, with propaganda campaigns required to cement her legitimacy.
Sydney Seiler, a former US intelligence officer, said in a Committee for Human Rights in North Korea publication that Ju-ae’s military appearances could be an attempt to show she is well-versed in such matters and dismiss perceived “vulnerabilities”.
Kim’s sister Kim Yo-jong was also tipped as a potential successor. Ms Kim, who currently holds a senior position in the central committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, is widely considered the second most powerful person in the country.
But North Korean ideological doctrine appears to enforce the idea of a hereditary heir, arguing that the successor must come from the next generation, as Kim did from his father and grandfather before him.
According to the NIS, Ju-ae lives in a seaside estate likened to Mar-a-Lago in Wonsan, in the south-eastern province of Kangwon, where she enjoys swimming pools, water slides and football fields. She is being homeschooled in the capital and enjoys horseback riding, swimming and skiing.
Her existence was inadvertently revealed by American basketball player Dennis Rodman in 2013 when he told The Guardian that he “held baby Ju-ae” while on a visit to North Korea.
Kim, who is 41 or 42 years old, is relatively young but has suffered from health problems caused by obesity, including high blood pressure and diabetes, as well as stress and smoking, the NIS has claimed.
Experts have questioned whether health issues have forced him to look for a successor so soon.
But it could be a signal to the rest of the world that the Kim dynasty stays strong and will continue for a long time. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2026/02/12/kim-jong-un-chooses-mysterious-daughter-as-heir/?WT.mc_id=tmgoff_youtube_chooses-mysterious-daughter-as-heir%2F

Well, they have a large population of uneducated young people who are not afraid of manual labour, like farm work. In the South meanwhile, your average university and polytechnic graduate is trekking all over town with a resumé looking for jobs in banks and oil companies. Stephen0mozzy: That's the beautiful thing about the North that I love. They're technically feeding the nation with agricultural produce.
They produce it, so it makes sense that it's very cheap there.
Here in the South, with our so called fertile ground we don't product anything at an industrial scale like these folks. Last time, I bought roughly 7 seeds of not-so-big tomatoe size for #500. |
Family › Three Children, Two Degrees: UNILAG Couple Beat Odds To Graduate by BlackViper(op): 8:21am On Feb 11 |
A couple, Mr Olawale Olulaja and his wife, Blessing Chigozie, were among the graduands at the just-concluded convocation of the University of Lagos, completing their programmes through the Distance Learning Institute.
While the husband was a graduate of Business Administration, the wife graduated from the Department of Accountancy for the 2024/2025 academic session.
The duo, in a conversation with The PUNCH, spoke about how they overcame the demands of marriage, parenthood, and years of academic disruptions, and graduated at the same time.
Olawale, a graduate of Business Administration, said he began the programme before his wife but could not complete it as scheduled due to outstanding courses.
“I enrolled before her. I had some references which I came to complete, that is why we are graduating at the same time,” he said.
He explained that he returned to school when his wife was close to completing her own programme.
“When it was time for her to graduate, I had to come and complete my own course of study,” Olawale added.
The father of three said mutual understanding helped the couple cope with the pressures of studying while raising a family.
“We understand ourselves. I understand her when it is time for studying, even if she is not doing certain things at home, I understand that it is due to her studying, and I did not need to get annoyed,” he said.
“There are times when the food should be ready by 6 pm, but I get it at 8 pm. That is the little challenge faced. Managing the children, too, is by God’s grace. With God, all things are possible.”
Blessing, who graduated in Accounting, said she started her programme in 2018 and later discovered that her husband had not completed his earlier enrolment.
"We didn’t start together. He started first, but he didn’t finish his own. He had two references. I didn’t know about it till we got married,” she said.
She noted that she encouraged him to return and complete the programme, leading to their joint graduation.
“I started mine, and it was along the line that I knew, and I urged him to complete the programme. That was what we both did last year. It was not easy with the children,” she said.
Blessing said the seven-year academic journey coincided with the birth of their three children, as well as COVID-19 disruptions and prolonged strikes.
“DLI gave us three kids. We had the three kids in seven years. There was COVID and a long strike. I started in 2018 and was supposed to finish in 2023, but the extra two years were long strike and COVID,” she said.
She described attending classes and examinations shortly after childbirth as one of the toughest experiences.
“The last one was barely six months old when I came to class. The CS stitches were still fresh. At a point I wanted to defer, but my husband encouraged me to come back because he had to stay with the two kids at home,” she said.
According to her, she once attended a residential session with her baby due to a lack of childcare support.
“The two people I called to help me did not show up. So, I spent a one-week residential program with my baby. During the exam week, somebody came. She would stay with the baby, I would go and write an exam and return to carry my baby,” she said.
Determined not to prolong the programme further, Blessing said she endured the pain to complete her studies.
“The programme had extended for too long, and I did not want an extra year to make it eight years. I just had to bear the pain and finish once and for all,” she said.
Reflecting on the experience, she urged Nigerians, especially women, not to wait for a convenient time before pursuing education.
“If you are waiting for a convenient time, it can never come. After one challenge, another challenge will come up. Just face your challenge, and you will survive,” she said.
She added that she relied on extra tutorials to cope with the academic demands of the programme.
“School class is just twice a month, so I enrolled for personal tutorials. For the past seven years, Saturdays and Sundays have not been mine,” she said.
Blessing said she plans to proceed to professional certification.
“I want to do ICAN,” she added.
The couple described their graduation as a product of sacrifice, resilience and mutual support, saying the experience had strengthened their belief that education remains achievable despite life’s challenges. https://punchng.com/three-children-two-degrees-unilag-couple-beat-odds-to-graduate/

Sports › Franck Ribéry Mentioned In Latest Epstein Files by BlackViper(op): 2:12pm On Feb 10 |
Bayern Munich fans were dealt a shocking blow over the weekend when the name of club legend Franck Ribéry was one of hundreds of recognizable figures found within the infamous Epstein files.
It should be noted that within the files, many of the names mentioned have not been formally accused of wrongdoing or charged with any crimes connected to Epstein, a financer and convicted sex offender. The release included over 2,000 videos and 180,000 images.
At this stage, the report is not considered to be an indictment or an acknowledgement of any wrong doing by those referenced within the files. What happens with all of this detail remains to be seen.
However, Brusa Carlo Alberto, lawyer of Bayern legend Franck Ribéry, mounted a reactive attack to his client being named in the files.
“This is fake news. I will take action in my capacity as Mr. Ribéry’s lawyer and implement all necessary legal proceedings to punish those responsible for this fake news, which is an attack on the dignity of my client and his family,” Alberto said (as capture by @iMiaSanMia).
As noted above, the files have some very damaging and descriptive information on many public figures. Ultimately, government officials and authorities might nor might decide to pursue action based on some of the information contained within the dossier. https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/lawyer-bayern-legend-franck-rib-123000432.html?guccounter=1

Sports › Re: Muhammad Ali In Lagos At A Night Club In Yaba, Lagos, August 1964 by BlackViper: 12:24am On Feb 10 |
You've more or less confirmed my initial statement: He believed that an Arabic name was the most authentic way to replace the "X" that represented his lost African lineage. Whether he was deceived or not, I am here stating facts and one man's side of the coin is another man's side. Does that even make any sense? Are Arabs Africans? Did he know that the trans-saharan slave trade started a 1,000 years before the trans Atlantic slave trade and that it was white Europeans who ended it? He was mentally conditioned and brainwashed by Elijah Muhammad and Malcom X. SixSeven: Shortly after defeating Sonny Liston on March 6, 1964, Elijah Muhammad of the Nation of Islam officially gave him the name Muhammad Ali. He had briefly used the name "Cassius X" just days before this formal change. In his 1975 autobiography, "The Greatest: My Own Story," Muhammad Ali addressed the idea of being "deceived" by clarifying that his name change was a deliberate act of self-liberation, not a misunderstanding of history. Muhammad Ali changed his name in 1964 because he viewed "Cassius Clay" as a slave name that belonged to his ancestors' masters. Even though he was named after a white abolitionist, Ali felt the name was a brand of white supremacy and insisted that he didn't want to carry a name he hadn't chosen for himself.
He opted for an Arabic name rather than an African one because, through the Nation of Islam, he was taught that Islam was the "original" religion and culture of Black people. To Ali, names like Muhammad ("worthy of praise" and Ali ("most high" weren't just titles;, they were a way to reclaim a spiritual heritage that existed before the slave trade. Watch the earlier video I posted.
https://www.tiktok.com/video/7537412986873466134
He argued that these names connected him to a global community and a higher purpose. In his writing, Ali made it clear that he wasn't deceived; he was seeking a sense of dignity. He believed that an Arabic name was the most authentic way to replace the "X" that represented his lost African lineage. Whether he was deceived or not, I am here stating facts and one man's side of the coin is another man's side. |
